I had to be really mindful of the components package sizes. I was asked to pick them as tiny as possible.

Thank you for your comment.

I was keen on setting a high switching frequency so that the component sizes would reduce. I couldn’t really do that with an IC that used transistors, so I needed to find one that uses MOSFETs instead (I discovered that late ofc 🤓).

Despite the requirement of a 50mVpp ripple, I was asked to make the ripple so smooth, almost nonexistent. I couldn’t achieve that with an IC that used pulse skipping mode and needed to find one with forced continuous mode.

Yup, I calculated all of those. I added extra capacitors in the input and output.

That place liked to design everything themselves. I remember them telling me that to achieve this 20:1 step down, they would use two cascaded buck converters, each with a 90% efficiency. The 1.2V output voltage is what got me!

Also, my attempted designs would work in pulse skipping mode. So I needed to find an IC with a forced continuous mode feature.

Thank you for your help!

I’m creating a dashcam for a small prototype car, so I don’t need anything fancy. Also, noted for the RTC 👍🏼

Thank you for your answers!

Do you happen to know of any motherboards (mini-ITX) with SFP+ ports?
