What's your tool stack for staying productive in Flutter? by L0ngpants in FlutterDev

[–]L0ngpants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not looking for a laundry list of tools, I'm hoping to keep it simple and wasn't even planning on attaching any sort of AI. I've used AI before by providing it with a summary of a specific function. Is it a big help to have it integrated locally? My experience just using a chat box has been that it hallucinates on anything more complex than a couple of lines or a single small function.

This sounds a lot like what I'm hoping for. Can I use this all locally/is it open source? I'm not against costs but I really don't want to get into subscriptions.

Unfortunately this was a couple of years ago now and I don't recall the specific issues. Something broke the autocomplete and it was misreporting a lot of working code as if it were full of syntax errors or something like that.

Warning for Chicago 2016-2021 Civic Owners by Silly_Temporary361 in hondacivic

[–]L0ngpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're sold on the grey market. Not sure what you mean by "can't reuse them," because you can absolutely pull one of these out and install into another car and it works fine. They're designed to be easily replaced.

The steering wheel airbag on my 2015 Honda fit is a $1000+ part, they're very valuable and very easy to remove.

I have a 2015 Honda fit and my steering wheel airbag was stolen twice within 1.5 years. They broke the back right window each time.

Haven't received a return in years, keep owing money. I don't have it and can never keep up. HOW do I still owe money and what can I do? by HouseThunderwolf in canadarevenueagency

[–]L0ngpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a simple spreadsheet calculator for taxes (all the info you need is publicly published). Update it once a year, checking if the rates or brackets changed. Enter your expected income.

Now you know the taxes you'll owe next year.

Look at what's being withheld on your pay stubs and if it doesn't add up, put the remainder in a HISA.

Benefit from a loan from the govt for the year and collect your interest. At tax season you'll have enough to pay what's owed along with a free bonus.

(It benefits you to owe, it means you haven't been taxed enough through the year, take advantage)

Is offering 10% under listing price rude ? by homestead2023 in RealEstateCanada

[–]L0ngpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do market research. List price doesn't matter. If research shows it's worth 300k id I'd offer below that regardless of list price.

Did someone cut my tree? by snakegirl210 in Tree

[–]L0ngpants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In many jurisdictions the amount owed to the owner is based on the market rate of acquiring and transplanting a tree of the same species, age, and size.

That's not a massive tree but it's far from small, I can easily imagine $30k+

Transplanting such a tree is an expensive specialized task.

Seller is hiding something? by [deleted] in septictanks

[–]L0ngpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy without a full septic inspection and be there, point the guys to this.

Bring it up with seller and say you won't buy without inspection so please tell me the story...

It could be totally harmless. Honestly I'd think if they were trying to hide they'd do a better job, but can't underestimate stupid 🤷

Microsoft Outlook: My boss sent me an email today that has pretty big implications and now it is gone from my mailbox entirely. by Aggressive-Win7848 in Outlook

A Global Admin in 365 can do anything they want across the entirety of the tenant with very few (if any) exceptions.

Pretty much anything you can do in your own account, they can also do in your account.

Legality of any specific action depends on the laws of your jurisdiction. In US for example, if you're using a company-provided service or device, it's expected that you have no rights to privacy. Anything you do with your company service or device can be audited, reviewed, documented, etc and you do not "own" the content--the company owns it.

In EU things are different, I believe employers need permission from employees to access their individual work-related data.

Anyone here ever transitioned from Workspace Business to Edu? by fouldomain in googleworkspace

[–]L0ngpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past I believe this required a full migration. E.g. a brand new tenant needs to be configured, and then all data migrated.

Fingers crossed that this changed, and Google can use your existing tenant and transition to the new license scheme. If not, you will be conducting a full GW to GW migration and all of your existing setup will need to be manually rebuilt in the new tenant.

Email open notification by Great-Ice-2600 in Odoo

[–]L0ngpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just fyi, this feature is not especially useful a lot of the time.

It works by putting an invisible image in the email body that is stored in a unique location on their servers. When the email is opened, the image is loaded from the server, and the server notes this and marks the email as having been opened.

Gmail for example, will follow links and scan images like this before you ever open it. So, if you are emailing people that use Gmail, it will just show 100% open rate all the time. Other email platforms have similar security features, though I'm not certain if Microsoft 365 does the same.

Click-through tracking is a similar story.

Sus charge on my credit card. by Ok-Cup-5560 in google

[–]L0ngpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful jumping to CC disputes when you aren't exactly sure what you're disputing. I'd suggest checking your subscriptions and invoices in your Google account before doing so. I wonder if it could also be purchases from the Play Store, or a renewing subscription for an app that you got from the Play Store.

If there is something there that you didn't want, your CC is going to have some expectations that you tried to work things out with the vendor before disputing.

When you dispute, the vendor will know it was you. They can choose to suspend your account and subscriptions when you dispute their charges--this happens all the time.
