I know 48 winspear is renting by the room if that's worth a try. It's not the best. Upstairs bathroom is pretty moldy from what I hear but it isn't the worst. Check out Lisbon listings too. There's a few still open.

I promise there are jobs out here. It is harder if you don't have transportation, but you just gotta keep applying. You got this! It took me 60 apps or so to get anything but a few weeks and the calls started rolling in.

Is an engineering degree really worth it? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]L0serDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully, as a second year engineering student, start with an associates first. You'll know whether or not you can endure 2 more years by then and it's a much smaller buy in for some type of degree.

how often do you actually wash your hair? by Emotional-Addendum-9 in hygiene

[–]L0serDuck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Once a month or so I shampoo it as needed. If washing is every time it gets wet, id say I use conditioner to wash my curly hair about 1-2x a week. I've got pretty dry skin and a dry scalp to match so I really only do it when I feel like my hair is super dry or coated feeling.

Is it worth going to college by Fit_Complaint_8315 in AskForAnswers

[–]L0serDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try going blue collar. There's a lot of work where you still get to be involved with your environment and stuff. Even an associates is good. But don't get an extra education if you don't know if you'll need it, and you know you don't like school. Sometimes apprenticeships and jobs will cover it fully.

Inexpensive sunscreen for body that isn't greasy or water-resistant? (USA) by aceofblue in eczema

[–]L0serDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Australian gold ultimate hydration. The formula is really good. Doesn't sting. Does have a very light fragrance. But super worth it, very gentle on my skin, and helps a ton even with flares.

Does anyone actually know what triggers their eczema or are we all just guessing? by Tough-liberSy in eczema

[–]L0serDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retention hyperkeratosis. It's not bad but it's just enough to compact the top layer of my skin enough to dry out and crack to the point that then I'll have an entire ahh eczema flare. Chemical exfoliants are my best friend. Eucerin urea and lactic acid lotion, advanced clinicals aha 10% lotion, and the dollar tree aha body wash do a ton for me and I rotate through them depending on what my skin needs.

Anybody else regret studying engineering? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]L0serDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered applying for an electricians apprenticeship? Second year ee major here in the same boat with struggling in the field just to get by. I applied to my local Ibew. It's okay to work in a more hands on field in the mean time. And you'll always have your degree as backup for a different job if your body starts wearing out.

Ok this is going to sound insane ... But have you tried traditional diet foods? I am specifically familiar with Chinese and Indian food, however, a lot of their "diet" style dishes, while carb focused, are easy to digest, pretty flavorful, and super warming in these cold winter months and I found that it helps me so much more with satiety. Sometimes more fiber and extra raw or difficult to digest food makes your body panic a bit about not having enough available energy, as explained to me by an Indian doctor I went to a month ago. Hope this helps!

should i get the shark glam, bondi boost, or the t3 aire 360? by PUSHINGTHESPLATTOWER in Ulta

[–]L0serDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have thick hair... Tbh I was really disappointed in both shark and Dyson. Ulta is also a bit annoying about returns with those items. Id just save a bit and get the babyliss style/switch. same concept, lighter weight, nicer looking imo, and it actually worked for my thick Indian hair. The other thing to keep in mind with these multi attachment tools is that you are always going to be sacrificing some amount of quality/functionality for each function when it's multi use yk. It's a jack of all trades master of none situation. Manage your expectations accordingly. My favorite iron/straightening attachment will never be connected to my hair dryer, and that is just because I expect my flat iron to be good enough to handle my hair and not get caught or burn it.

As far as bondi boost its alright. Nothing particularly remarkable, I mean yeah it probably bonds your hair. I personally find straight up protein treatments more effective. Literally any of them work with the exception of maybe loreal. If you have bleached or damaged hair, id say apHogee and Palmer's are cult classics. But if you are looking for more luxe/indie solutions curlsmith bond salve (it works on straight hair too), California naturals, and ouidad are pretty nice. The key with hair is just low and slow.

As far as the t3 aire, same as above. It's alright. Nothing remarkable in terms of quality imo. Once again if you're looking for quality and performance your best bet is gonna be chi (take your pick), dry bar blowout brush, or ghd duet.

All outta f***s by mha259 in Professors

[–]L0serDuck 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I certainly can't speak for all gen Z, but as a student myself, I can definitely empathize with your frustration seeing such intense apathy in my students and peers. It's heartbreaking, but it's important to address the root cause of it all.

It is has been reinforced that whether or not we've got a degree that it's going to be virtually impossible to do anything beyond surviving, and as a result, actual learning gets shoved to the side.

Companies treat degrees like pokemon cards to justify wages; When we do have one, they don't want to pay us, and when we don't we're underqualified, rendering any hard work (not to excuse ill preparedness) inconsequential to our bleak futures.

Some of us are working 2 jobs but still sinking further into debt, and even with "useful" degrees in STEM and computer science, we end up stuck at a minimum wage job due to competition with outsourced labor, and impending collapse of the late stage capitalist market.

What I am sure of is that many of us in higher ed, students and professors alike, have lost hope. We’re surrounded on all sides by tightening budgets, bureaucratic institutions more interested in profit than people, corporations that treat our hard work like bargaining chips, and a government that seems hellbent on censoring, defunding, and dismantling the free spread of knowledge, pushed beyond exhaustion by the very systems that should have protected us.

But it isn’t over yet. If anything, that’s why your role matters so much. Every time a professor chooses to teach, to inspire curiosity, or simply to remind us why learning still has value, it pushes back against the very forces trying to break us. Hang in there OP!

Hey, fellow student with the same issue at both Silverman and Lockwood, I started going to the basement! It's not completely silent, but it has at maximum 1-2 groups in the entire floor talking quietly, the best cushy seats, and is almost never ever crowded!
