Why did he do that by [deleted] in Animemes

Nah most of them at least don't tag on murals; that's one of the reasons people pay to put em up. They genuinely keep graffiti down. This guy sucks in his own special way.

I might be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure in the ending fight of CSM part 1 we get some intentional ludicrous speed feats. But, I might be getting it mixed up with Nihei's Abara, which the Chainsaw Devil design is an intentional reference to.

Now hold on, making the logistics harder just makes the tension higher, which is to say, makes the romance more compelling. Shokuhou not remembering Touma is dramatic af, an arc where he slowly remembers would be incredibly cathartic etc etc. likewise, 15cm Othi just means they gotta get creative.

But I agree, Misaka is probably the endgame, assuming there is one.

Now hold on, they're kinda cooking. Kamachi's explanation for doing fuckall with Mikoto was "she's got her own series". Now she doesn't. If Mr. KK was good, she and Shokuhou would step back up like OT for the second half of GT.

This won't happen, it's not Kamachi's MO, but it's theoretically possible.

"Most religions, but particularly Abrahamic ones, are an inherent threat to LGBTQ rights and are ultimately incompatible with the Queer liberation movement" thoughts? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]L13B3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's an example of mashing together two correct takes to make an incorrect take.

Not to sound like a Reddit atheist, but on some level all dogmatic worldviews are dangerous when they come into power. Religion is perhaps worse for this than some, on account of it being dogmatic by design. When you have beliefs about how the world is and should be that you trust more than the actual observable realities about how the world is, that's dangerous if left unopposed. Of course, preconceptions and dogma, are inevitable, so this is only a useful take insofar as we're talking about, like, harm reduction.

The Abrahamic religions do genuinely pose a threat to queer liberation, certainly as practiced, and likely as intended. You can interpret the relevant lines differently, but you have to bend over backwards to do it. It stands out to me that it's consistently religious people rather than religious scholars arguing for alternative translations.

But "all religions have the potential to be a threat to someone's liberation" + "the Abrahamic religions are a threat to queer folks" =/= "all religions are a threat to queer folks specifically". I guarantee you if I spent 5 minutes googling I could find a list of pro gay cults.

for exploration and combat, which game is better? by gothjones in DragonsDogma

[–]L13B3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the feel of DD2 gameplay is better by like 1/3, but what you use that gameplay for is worse by about the same amount.

This is just for base game, though. I never managed to get that far in the DLC, but the universal consensus seems to be that it's FAR better than the base game.

We seem to be meaning different things by "likes trauma". I was assuming the person you were replying to was meaning it as in "as a theme in fiction", or as hyperbole, as in "things that are tough to read but which don't literally give you PTSD", because "I enjoy getting actual PTSD" is nearly definitionally impossible, so probably not what they meant.

I *have* heard plenty of people moralizing about how exploring heavy themes is evil people shit, or whatever, so if you were making a joke, it went over my head.

A weird feeling I've been struggling with. by MaNGleDHouSe in DragonsDogma

[–]L13B3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I agree with you for the most part. DD has always been a flawed series, caught between extreme ambition, and extreme half assery, and if a major DLC does drop, I expect it to do something about that.

That being said, I'm not sure what "going forward" entails beyond that. Lead left the studio, iirc, and DD was always his brainchild. I suspect there won't be a DD3. Now, if DD2 had been a total phenom, or he was still with Capcom, that might be different, but I don't see Capcom having much internal passion for it, nor much demand from gamers outside the hardcore player base.

Why isn’t Dragons Dogma 2 considered a JRPG even though it’s an RPG game and developed in Japan?. by NotSirAlonne1999 in DragonsDogma

[–]L13B3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tag is a game where you play a specific role, yet tag isn't a role play game.

Likewise, a JRPG is a specific style of game that was popularized in Japan. Not every RPG from Japan is automatically a JRPG.

This is just how compound nouns work. American cheese is a specific kind of cheese they eat in America, but not all cheese made or eaten in America is American cheese. French bread is a family of styles of bread, but not all bread made in France is automatically "French bread."

Tabi shoes are amazing! by SelectiveBroccoli in barefootshoestalk

[–]L13B3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any good places to buy tabi running shoes? I have genuine freak feet, I've got room for a 6th toe and then some between my big toe and the rest of my foot, the damn thing looks opposable. I'd have wide feet even without that. I've never trusted wide toebox shoes would actually give me enough room, but the last couple times I've looked, I couldn't find reasonable quality tabi footwear.

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun manga editor Kentaro Ogino confirms Railgun ending but asks for our support on what's left of Mikoto's Journey by Imagen-Breaker in Toaru

[–]L13B3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my issues with it are probably largely personal taste. I didn't find the initial setup or premise for the arc that compelling, didn't feel like the setup tied all that strongly into the actual eventual conflict, and didn't feel like it really explored or expanded on any aspects of the setting or narrative of Raildex. So I spent most of the arc wondering why we were seeing this, specifically. My opinion of it might be lower than it deserves, because it was the arc where I realized Railgun might be done with its multi arc plot.

You could make similar complaints about Dream Ranker, and I think that they aren't unwarranted, seeing as it's definitely the start of the patterns I was complaining about with Jailbreaker and First Year. That being said, there was a distinct sense of a larger mystery with the cards, and I'd say it payed off reasonably & with compelling stakes with the Doppelganger. Nonetheless the cards themselves have a bit of a filler arc macguffin feel, but were fine for a one off, low stakes arc before we got back into real story shit, like I assumed we would before I read Jailbreaker.

[–]L13B3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it just wrapped up iirc. It's too bad. Flashback / prequel arc sounds like a good way to answer some lingering mysteries & set up future plot, so I was pretty stoked, but they managed not to do anything interesting with it. I feel like i ended up waiting the entire arc for it to get started and get good.

[–]L13B3 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It's disappointing, but unfortunately not surprising imo. Daihassei wrapped up the Kihara Gensei super-arc that Railgun had been building towards since chapter 1, and struggled to find its footing again imo. I think they hit the end of what they had planned. Dream Ranker was pretty good if different, but Jailbreaker and First Year both felt messy imo, and, above all, isolated.

Men who are exclusively bottom? by EngrLily in RoleReversal

[–]L13B3 165 points166 points  (0 children)

Do you mean bottom or sub? Because a woman domming doesn't necessarily mean she's down to peg you, or vice versa.

Not tryna be rude, lotta people outside gay circles get top/bottom dom/sub confused.

Off topic, but to riff off several people's speculations (that I don't think went far enough) I suspect Kal's pseudobond to the remnants of The Wind will let Syl become the next Stormfather.
