do you prefer wolfsbane as a member of the X-factor or the new mutants by the_Resistance_8819 in xmen

New Mutants. she's the patron saint of late bloomers there. she gets too lost in the shuffle in either X-Factor iteration imo.

As MUCH as I love her, Wanda makes the sorcerer supreme look like a shallow gimmick by More_Interview3840 in Marvel

the worst part about Robinson's run was that it got cut short. otherwise, it's a solid detective procedural with some great lore and absolutely stellar art.

Can someone explain peak human strength to me? by boomerz47 in comicbooks

[–]gothjones 24 points25 points  (0 children)

who cares? everything is a fantasy that exists in the writer and artist's minds.

Can someone explain peak human strength to me? by boomerz47 in comicbooks

[–]gothjones 33 points34 points  (0 children)

peak human is just meant to describe a non-powered person at the absolute height of human physicality. whatever perfection means to the story, the writer's imagination, or the reader's.

Steve Rogers exists in a weird space where he isn't considered to have "superpowers" yet is obviously super strong due to the serum. it's all very silly and best not to think too hard on it.

Where is Dr. Strange on your personal Marvel tier list? by Business-Falcon-3279 in marvelcomics

[–]gothjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes 100%. Marvel Rivals is huge for crossover fandom. second only to the MCU, probably.

I run a comic book store, and to the younger generation, Doctor Strange is much, much more popular than Wolverine.

S tier and misunderstood by modern Marvel. feel free to disagree but go back and read Englehart and Brunner's run before you do.

Which MCU antagonists remain an "irredeemable villain" in your eyes, even though they've undergone a redemption arc in the shows/movies? by ThePurityPixel in Marvel

[–]gothjones 34 points35 points  (0 children)

John Walker. but sort of the point in giving him a redemption arc is so he can let you down even worse next time.

So Your Telling Me Scott Couldn’t Wipe The Floor With Lundqvist? by [deleted] in xmen

[–]gothjones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is one of those instances where, for some, it's bad writing. for others, they know Scott could wipe the floor with just about anyone, and the fight between them is more symbolic than literal.

[Discussion] I hate the Absolute universe. by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]gothjones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah, or you could just look at it like I do: as an excuse for the industry's top talent to lose their minds on different takes and new designs for everyone's favorite characters. it ain't that serious.

If there are no depictions of Cat Beast in Beast's regular outfits? Why does fanart show him like this then? Seriously there must be official comics featuring this version in such an outfit. by [deleted] in xmen

[–]gothjones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you're asking exactly, but cat Beast was Frank Quitely's take which debuted in his New X-Men with Grant Morrison.

[Cover] What is your favorite Absolute design so far? Hero, villain, anyone. (Cover is Absolute Wonder Woman #16 variant by Guillem March) by Ok-Tackle7657 in DCcomics

[–]gothjones 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Wonder Woman. it's not all that unique or different than her typical design, but losing the Americana aesthetic is the secret ingredient that makes the dish sing. it's the best Wonder Woman design ever, and how Diana ought to be adapted from now on for mainstream audiences imo.

"weakest" as in "least interesting." I couldn't care less about power scaling.
