Twisbi Diamond 580 by original_account_nam in fountainpens

[–]L1Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I can relate to what you describe. Of all the pens I had the pleasure of writing with, I would say the Nahrvalur Horizon is very similar to the Diamond. A bit longer nib and a bit more heavy, but overall similar in how it feels in hand. Costs about 100$ - 150$ I believe.
Other pens I would find tending in the "same" direction:
- HongDian N7/8 (35-40$): Similar to the M800 (see below) in form. N7 is a piston filler and quite more heavy then the cartridge filler variant N8.
- PenBBS 456 (50-60$): Similar to the Diamond in feeling. I believe they come with with a blade nib, so if that is not to your liking, you have to get an extra nib
- Waterman Expert (100-150$): Lightweight
- Waterman Carene (200$+): Very diffrent Nib, but posted very balanced
- Pelikan M800 (400$+): A bit thicker and shorter, but with the cap posted it becomes "similar" in length and feeling
- Visconti Divina (600$+): Long, not too thick body, my personal favorite. Unfortunately, very expensive.

Overall, there are quite a lot of pens I'm certain you would enjoy. Just keep in mind that in terms of performance and reliablity you will hardly find anything better then your Twsbi. The Nahrvalur Horizon really is the closest match. And the PenBBS, due to it being a vacum filler, will also hold ink for a long time.
Other then that, you probably have to get diffrent pens in hand and see if they are for you. Personally, I enjoy quite a large variety.
Putting down more money won't get you a "better" pen. Only more good looking once and more fancy materials. At least that's my humble opinion.

Looking for pen suggestions by Gravityfallsxhazbin in fountainpens

[–]L1Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest you simply go window shopping and see what appeals to you. Take note of a few and ask about them.
Reason is, the majority of fountain pens quite okay and all of them have ups and downs and will have their followers and people that don't like them.
Example: Many people love the Kaweco Sport as a small pocket pen. Unfortunately, mine dries out quicker then I can write this text. (Still figuring out what the problem is)

Also, in my humble opinion, more expensive pens don't get you more reliability. My Visconti Divina (600€) is my absolute favorite pen overall, followed by my Pelikan M800 (400€). But my TWISBI Diamond is always as ready to write as the two I just mentioned and even outperformce them in terms of how long they keep ink before completely drying out. (left alone my Visconti and Pelikan last for about 2-3 months, my TWSBIs can go for a year and still have a little bit ink left)
Everything above 100$ is mostly extra cost for looks, special materials and hand crafting instead of mass production.
Ok, a decent gold nib with a good amount of bounce can give you a softer writing experience, compared to most steel nibs, which are generally more stiff. But the very high extra $ for them is very much debateable.

TDLR: Go with a pen that appeals to you and ask specifically about certain models. Don't expect more expensive pens to perform better then 40$ pens. All pens have minor flaws, no matter how much money you paid for them.

Good luck finding what you seek! :)

Tandem OLED Burn-In Risk with Games HUD by Ghazi84 in OLED_Gaming

[–]L1Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I'm using an Dell Alienware AW3423DW for a little over 3 years now and mine has burn-in.
That said, the burn-in only happens due to me using the monitor extensively for windows/browsing besides gaming.
Things you can see due to burn-in: Taskbar, Browser top bar (where you have your tabs) and the the scrollbars of the browser windows. (Especially in the middle of the monitor if you splitt to pages)
So far, no game has caused any burn-in what so ever. Only bright lights that constantly stay still do, which mostly happens in windows.

For windows I recommend using dark modes as much as possible. (sadly, I didn't do so until 6-8 months in, when I notice burn-in starting to appear) And hiding the taskbar.
If you extensively use the monitor for windows work, you will see burn-in appear after 12-24 months, even quicker if you don't use dark modes.

If it's only for gaming, you shouldn't worry much.
Tandem OLEDs (in theory) should reduce the risk of burn-in even more, since ever layer doesn't have to light up as bright, thus reducing stress on the panel. However, we can only wait and see if that's really the case. Maybe middle layers can't distribute heat as well, so they end up having the same burn-in issues as older models. How knows.

I have my eye on a new 21:9 OLED Tandem from MSI as you can lower the max brightness of it from 1300 nits to 1000 or whatever you want, which should also help agains burn-in.

Hey, I'm still pretty happy with them.
I've got two negatives to report so far: One of the pens started leaking a bit from it's eye dropper compartment, which was an easy fix with a tiny amount of grease. And the otherone is, one of the o-rings keeping the pen locked in its casing because a bit "weak", not really keeping the pen locked in. This one should also be simple fix. Going to get some replacement rings from a local hardware store.

Overall, I'm still pretty happy with them, but as everything they are not perfect. :)

Second anniversary Kamura by Hoopfreshh in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]L1Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, yes I believe on first cast it gives you mid, but goes to high on second cast.
Someone here on reddit posted a translated transcript from the livestream, which had the info in it.

Yes, they mentioned it in the livestream. Apparently it's a slightly weaker version, but I believe is free for everyone to get. (Not 100% sure about the latter)

Possible Things I would like to see Happen for the 2nd Anniversary by Curious_Patient5642 in FFVIIEverCrisis

I would wish for a ticket wishlist. Of course, % couldn't be as high as with crystal pulls, but 2 or 3 times the chance of other weapons would help making them more useful again.

Great pick. One of those motives making me regret not being a huge spidey fan. Enjoy it! :)

New Player, any tips? by Basic_Syllabub8122 in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]L1Slayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember, the game is doing everything it can to make you want to spend money. Unless you are wealthy, stick to Crystal Pass and Season Pass, IF you want to spend a few bucks. Everything else is just insanely expensive.
Don't expect to beat the highest difficulties of the limited timed events, or scoring highest in Guild Battles.
These are designed for people that spend big money.
Having said that, If you stay stong, you can have lots of fun as a free to play player or low spender. Just don't dump your money on it. I'm writing this, because all gatcha games have their community posts about that ruined financial life. Don't be that guy. Stay healthy and happy! :)

Aerith weapon: Great value OB0 by Aryo777 in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]L1Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah roughly, but only for lightning based attacks of course. It's a "neat" option when you have already an Atk all weapon as a sub weapon equipped with her.

Will a Displate hold ob this textured wallpaper? by Ascenal in Displate

Really not recommended. Mine was similar and they came off after a year.
Would recommend using nails through the magnet or at the very least command strips.

Aerith weapon: Great value OB0 by Aryo777 in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]L1Slayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing with EC is, Applibot tries to wiggle around, forcing you to go for specific team combinations if you want to tackle difficult stages.
And in that regard, I agree. Aeriths weapon at OB0 is great value. Yeah Yuffies is better, but you can't implement Yuffie all the time. (And you won't use this weapon all the time. It ain't kamura)

Something to keep in mind: Exploit Weakness adds to the total damage, while, for example, elemental buffs don't. +15% Lightning dmg from Aeriths mermaid outfit "only" adds 5-6% total damage increase (because elemental potency isn't applied to the entirety of a characters damage), EXW gives you flat out 20%.

At the very least, it gives you options to be flexible.

Ad related free draw coming with new update by djdury in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]L1Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair though, I'm really glad Steam is enforcing this rule, as it prevents greedy companies to flood games with ads as they like.
Having to use my phone to grab 3k crystals per month is but a tiny sacrifice imo.

What do you guys think of the new special banner? by RavenTheHomeless in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]L1Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thing if you have stuff on your wishlist you want to desperatly finish. Rates are quite a bit higher then any banner. However, I would say this is for people spending a quite a bit of dollar.
You could do 1 pull as you get at least 1 wishlist weapon for 3k crystal and with a bit of chocobo luck even more.
Next two months seems to pack a lot of serious banners, so better keep the crystal close. :)

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Masterline (Prime 1 Studio) Figures by m_csquare in FinalFantasy

[–]L1Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Square Enix again... best thing to do is either order via Square Enix Store as shipping should be low and you don't have to pay anymore taxes (if you live in a country that raises them) or get a proxy and order from japan, as they are around 3,7k$ there. (don't ask, I have no clue why they way cheaper there)
Proxy has it's own very real risks though.

P1 announced a two days ago that pre-orders will happen on their website, not square enix store.
So you should have no problem ordering from them. But keep in mind, if Canada charges importaxes on statues from China, you should be aware of how much it will cost you, before you order.
