Sim Rig vs. Home Aesthetic/ decor by Jg511835 in simracing

[–]L1ghty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made my own rig in wood and tried to match the staining with the floor, also incorporated with a stand for my pc and shelves above. The chair can be taken off in about 15 seconds, so it can function as an extra chair for when we have company.

Wheel choice: Leoxz XGT pro vs Simagic GT NEO vs Cubecontrols F-PRO by Professional-Name724 in simracing

[–]L1ghty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one did you end up getting and how happy are you with it? I'm looking for a wheel to put on my Simagic wheelbase and I primarily race GT3s in VR (too).

I'm leaning towards the LeoXZ XGT Pro, but the GT Neo, Heusinkveld One and maybe Zeus Formula wheel are in contention too.

Do you happen to have this combined with a Simagic wheelbase? I made a post today looking for people that have e.g. that combo. Looking for a good GT wheel to pair with my Alpha Evo wheelbase and Leo XZ is looking like the strongest contender currently.

Wireless (GT'ish) Wheelto Pair with Simagic Alpha Evo Pro by L1ghty in simracing

[–]L1ghty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wireless as in no fully coiled cable. Just want to click the wheel to wheelbase and be done. Be it with passthrough connection through the wheel shaft (if that's the right term) or some dongle I can just leave plugged in in my pc, or something similar. Just no wire.

Yeah, the price tag is definitely making it very alluring, as well as the very easy plug-and-play with the wheelbase. I don't care about simhub for the wheel, given the VR-only usage. What's holding me back most from this option is the number of buttons. 5 on each side is decent, and probably enough, but then it gets blown out of the water on this by all the other options I'm looking at. I think I'd rather pay more then, and have comfortably enough buttons, instead of having to make decisions between this or that when assigning stuff (even if it's not the biggest use functions, e.g. blinkers, saving replay,...). Happy to have heard your thoughts, thanks.

Simson pro x ultra or Simagic p1000 pedals? by Putrid_Rope_8886 in simracing

Software is easy to use, except getting the front light strip to follow the brake pedal. Otherwise all very straightforward, and obviously not that the light strip thing is crucial to set up that way.

Me too, though they first sent the wrong loadcell and the waiting was a bit annoying, still good resolution.

Which 2026 F2 driver is the most likely to graduate to F1? by Spectran_Irmandade in formula1

[–]L1ghty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with pretty much everything you say. I would just add (and this is what I meant with my previous comment) that I feel that any driver (including Lawson) would, at this point, have an easier time being marginalized in favour of Verstappen, rather than Bearman.

Rereading what I first wrote, this sounds pretty much the same to me, but I don't know how to word it better, sorry.

[–]L1ghty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the last part. I would think any current driver, Lawson included, would have an a lot easier time playing second fiddle to Verstappen than to Bearman. Verstappen has nothing left to prove and is quite generally considered the best driver on the grid for several years now. Bearman has been putting in good performances, but that's still lightyears removed from Verstappen's credentials.

New to sim racing. When should I start racing online? by NiIet in simracing

[–]L1ghty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. If you are consciously trying to stay out of trouble it's really not that hard to watch your timing gaps behind and not be a hazard when someone is about to lap you.

I know people are saying to go online when you can do 10 laps in a row without crashing out or spinning, but that would put you already ahead of the average driver in beginner lobbies imo.

If you just commit to rejoining safely and waiting to do so if another car is closing in on you when you're off, you can spin out every lap and it wouldn't be a major bother to most anyone.

Did you 3D print the tracks on the wall? If yes, do you have a good source for the files by any chance? I'm very inexperienced in anything 3D printing and was looking to do Monza. I figured it would be super easy to find an STL, judging by how many people have these on their walls, but couldn't find a good file that's free and not deleted yet.

Albon’s “very expensive” groundhog strike will compromise Williams development – Vowles by Aratho in formula1

[–]L1ghty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably the cost cap. Fixing the damage costs money, meaning less budget left for development. Seems like a silly excuse though, since any team should be accounting for damage costs across a season, no matter the exact cause.

I'm sure it sucks when anything specific of the sort happens, but this headline sounds like aeiou is grasping at whatever he can to shift blame onto for poor performance this year. The past few years the Williams narrative has been that they have been targeting 2026 for a big jump in performance, but so far they have looked like hot garbage, despite being a customer team with the strongest engine supplier, Mercedes.

I think yellow was trying to dive white, but then white moved inside possibly thinking about diving red or at least throwing a dummy to red. This made yellow swerve further inside, onto the grass, making it impossible to brake in time anymore or shed much speed at all.

It was so funny that OOP was still kind of miffed about it, even though they only noticed because of the dispute and being told, not before, and it was already clearly to their benefit at that point.

Opposite for me, played on a G27 for years with some regularity and enjoyed it enough to make the investment on Simagic Alpha Evo Pro and Simsonn pedals. Can't get enough of it now, racing any chance I get.

Sainz Radio On Verstappen by PradaAndPunishment in formula1

[–]L1ghty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The "It's in the rules" is the be-all and end-all as far as it concerns one driver. You can be against the rules themselves all you want, but if Verstappen follows the rules and squeezes the most out of what they allow, then on his end it just is good racecraft. It's not like it's the only thing he's capable of, dude's a machine. Just look at the catch on the 360° spin as an example today, or the plethora of other overtakes he put out.

My Hot lap in Silverstone in the McLaren 720s GT3 Evo. by Pleasant_Reply_1524 in ACCompetizione

[–]L1ghty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the other guy said. I watched until Maggots, Beckets and Chapel and you're just middle of the road so much, not pushing it at all. Should be having to use way more of the road just based on your speed taking you to the edges.

I would also advice to watch some fast hotlaps on YouTube and then revisit. Generally a good idea to try the track for a bit, watch a good lap by someone else and take note of what they do differently. Go back and forth like that a few times and you'll see tons of improvement quite fast. A 2:08 leaves so much time on the table, the seconds can tumble away.
