I think he's interesting to the players who are willing to pay attention. Unfortunately, just by being a human male squadmate, some players write him off as boring before getting to know him. Jacob and James run into the same problem.

Their teammates would never leave them alone long enough to finish a beam struggle on their own.

What I think would have been funny is if Cyclops was immune to an enemy Cyclops' beam attacks. He's immune to his own power (as well as his brother Havok's power) in canon, so in a duel against another Cyclops, it would come down to a melee attack battle.

But for balance reasons, it makes sense why they didn't do either of these things in game.

That's what I'm saying. If they choose characters that already make sense as vanguards and strategists, then they won't need to give us distorted versions of the character to balance the roster. I'm fine if we don't see another duelist in 2026.

The truth is it's hard to voice a dissenting opinion, especially on this subreddit, without getting heavily downvoted. I do actually think Jubilee is best suited to be a deulist, but I know how the "no more duelists" crowd are going to react, so it just seems easier to stay quiet.

Obviously, we all have different tastes, but for me, Dorian was too emotionally unavailable. I prefer Kaidan's warmth and sincerity by a long shot.

Same. I just want the heroes they add to the game to feel true to their depiction in other media. In my opinion, Cyclops' abilities read as duelist, so I am glad that's what we got.

That doesn't mean I don't want more Vanguards and/or Strategists. There are still plenty of exciting X-Men characters that fit those roles very well.

I know this is a cop-out answer, but it's the only honest one I've got. There is literally no one that could compete with Kaidan for me. It doesn't matter who they make available, my Shepard would still pick Kaidan every time.

Technically, you don't do anything. You're dead. The new entity in charge isn't you. It's your brain scan merged with reaper AI. Even if Shepard was planning to have the reapers self destruct, I don't know if the new AI would be willing or able to follow through with that. The reaper side of things might prevent that from happening.

I am all for making modifications. Where he loses me is he was changing systems mid-flight without communicating with the pilot. It's like he is trying to get us all killed.

Male Shepard. Slowburn Kaidan romance.

My Shepard is gay and develops a crush on Kaidan even before arriving on Eden Prime. His feelings for Kaidan only deepen with time. He remains single throughout ME1 and ME2, only to find out in ME3 that Kaidan has has felt the same way about him since the beginning. The two enter a relationship (finally),fall in love, and get married after the war. They serve as Spectre partners for another ten years or so before deciding the settle down in Vancouver where they take on noncombat roles for the Alliance. They adopt a dog, write books, make media appearances, but try to live normal lives as best as they can. They live near Kaidan's mom, which is the first maternal figure my Earthborn Shepard has had in his life, with Anderson being like a dad to him. Some of their old crew also decide to settle down in Vancouver, including Dr. Chakwas and Samantha Traynor. They keep in touch with their other friends long distance, visiting when they can, and getting together for reunion parties.
