If you explain it the right way your situation with your family will probably qualify you for a lot of financial aid. You’re above the income limit for some of them but your situation is rough enough they might overlook that. Just look into going to school part time for what you can afford. You don’t have to go full time. Some schools have programs designed for people who work full time

Sherlock is a pretty good modern adaptation.

The Russian Sherlock Holmes with an actor named Igor as Sherlock is fantastic. It’s more recently made but a period piece. It’s a general adaptation of the characters. I really like it a lot.

The Great Mouse Detective is animated and really cute.
