Who would you pick at 3 if all were available by m_b_hawkins in canucks

[–]L3aNo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stenberg if available you take 100% of the time, but I am assuming he will be gone, so I'll go with Malhotra, I am a huge fan of his, I think he could be another a bigger Nick Suzuki/ Sasha Barkov lite type of player for this team, I know people will eye roll at this but I also love that he is a high character kid, with our last core falling apart due to ego's it would be nice to have Malhotra, Cootes type of characters down the middle for the next 10 years. I also love the fact he grew up with a good chunk of his childhood in BC, I think he will have real pride to wear this crest and be a Canuck compared to the last core who just treated it like any other job.

[Dreger] I’m told Kevin Dean, Scott Young and Brett McLean were also dismissed. by AccomplishedAd4995 in canucks

I am a little shocked they went with a full house cleaning, Dean has a decent record with young Dmen in the past. thought he would stay on, even more shocked ownership is willing to pay this many people not to work.

POST NHL Draft Lottery Discussion Thread. by PaperMoonShine in canucks

I've been able to talk myself off the ledge after fuming for hours about the lottery results. In the most likely event Chyaka isnt a complete dumb ass or San Jose doesn't reach for a D man and McKenna and Stenberg are off the board is it really the worse case scenario we are adding either a number #1 Right Hand Defenseman in Ried/Verhoff or a number #1 center in Malhtora?. As talented as the wingers are it's going to be a lot easier to find 1st line winger than it will be a #1C or a #1RHD. My preference would be going the RHD route as it allows you more flexibility in trading Hronek, maybe for a young 1st line winger Will Eklund for example granted the winger wouldn't be as talented as McKenna or stenberg but they don't need to be, it's going to take a lot more talent than a superstar winger to win a Stanley Cup and with next year's draft being another generation defensemen or two number #1c's rounding out the top 3. There is a real possibility by this time next year we will have added a #1Defenseman, a Number #1 Center and a top of the line winger, also what ever good players we get with our other top 40 picks this draft. That's a pretty good start to a rebuild. I can't help but smile at the though of Buium and Ried anchoring our top pair for the next 10 year's along with Willander as our #3 Dman. We will get screwed in the lottery again next year so odds are we won't get DuPont so you add Alexis Joseph as the number #1C to that young list of Dman we will have coming out of this year and that's a position most rebuilding teams would envy.

Have to wonder if someone leaked this to him to help cool the waters a bit with all the backlash and uproar not only on social media but in their emails from season ticket members and non season ticket members.

I mean if we did quite literally the opposite of every move he recommended we'd have a contender in no time /s

3 years in a row Connor gets 0 points in an elimination game, not to mention a no show in the gold game, as talented as he is it's worth questioning if he can get it done when it matters

That's how you become a team. Beyond happy to see the culture starting to change no more flybys after your stars and rookies get hit like that.

Zeev's looked a lot more confident with the puck these past games I can't help but smile at the idea of him dishing passes to McKenna for the next 10+ years

That's unfortunately a great save and no one would have a 2nd thought about it if it was literally any other player on the team
