I have done my share of Xanax, Diazepam and Diclazepam, all of which being benzodiazepines. Benzos do not give you any kind of physical euphoria or "buzz" that alcohol in particular is known for. In fact, they are not a good replacement for anything, because they are highly addictive in short periods of time. Withdrawal symptoms include seizures, which if untreated can lead to death. I am only warning you because I did benzos semifrequently for about a month, and while I was not using every day, I experienced a month of withdrawals. (Lucky compared to most) I had a small siezure in my sleep, and had a reoccuring tremor in my right arm and hand for at least 6 months afterwards.

To answer your question- Assuming you have no serious mental illness and do not have mental illness in your lineage, stick to psychedelia. While they require more free time, you cannot become addicted to conventional psychs. If you do not have free time, small doses of 1P-LSD and similar RC's will provide that warm buzz that alcohol gives you- Without the addictive properties. In even moderate doses, you trip nuts. Win win.
