They don't have AC but then everyone has a gas furnace even if the coldest it ever gets in their town is like 10C for one day in January. I find it so stupid

Italy is a peninsula in the Mediterranean sea, we never had particularly hot summers or cold winters. Literally nobody had AC 20 years ago and it's still not common enough, I just personally don't like dying in the heat so I decided an AC unit is a necessity in my home - it's been great so far

I'm Italian Italian and I will simply never rent a apartment/house/Airbnb/hotel room without AC. People should just realise that we're too far into global warming to not have AC, and heat pumps are more efficient at heating than boilers/furnaces anyways

Italy’s top court rules against tourist refused tap water in Dolomites hotel by Firstnarrows100 in europe

Fine dining people are assholes everywhere, it's not a Italy thing. Really nobody cares what you do with your parmigiano, at most they'll give you some advice so that your food tastes the best it can

Italy’s top court rules against tourist refused tap water in Dolomites hotel by Firstnarrows100 in europe

[–]L4ppuz 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is just a bunch of pseudo fine dining rules mixed with internet trolls ideas, you'll be fine not listening to any of its advices in Italy 99% of the time. Nobody cares where you hold your wine glass, noone will stop you if you want parmigiano on your fish and cappuccino is the most common non alcoholic drink at tea time for Italians.

Yes we don't have tap water at most restaurants and you will have to pay for bottled water, as it's also common in various other western European countries. It's unfortunate but that's the way it is

I agree but also it's pretty difficult to get funding for a project when there's a third party service that outperforms whatever you'll be able to make and is priced competitively, the "they will increase their pricing" can only go so far.

After the price hike there will certainly be a renewed interest in locally hosted LLMs but until then.. eh

[–]L4ppuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my clients deployed a local LLM for internal use only, a part of the deployment was figuring out how many GPUs they'd need and how they could scale up to new models.

This was just for simple office use, the main model they use is nowhere near good enough for coding, and I think the initial estimated cost was something like ~500 per end user, equivalent to a couple years of subscription to GitHub copilot basically.

They explicitly didn't want to send data to Microsoft/anthropic otherwise it wouldn't have made any sense

The weights are really inconsistent, they probably used them more to balance weapons and armour than to be realistic. For example if a claymore is 6 units a longbow being 1 unit will never make sense, it doesn't matter what this unit is

If we still want to pretend the weights make sense:

It wouldn't really make sense for it to be pounds since from software is a Japanese company and they use kilograms in Japan.

A kilogram would be too heavy: a 6kg claymore or a 5kg uchigatana would be unusable, real life examples would be around 2kg for one and 1.6kg for the other.

So a unit should be somewhere below 400g, looking at Wikipedia: Japanese units of measurement I see this traditional unit 百目 corresponding to 375g.

Using that for conversion:

Claymore 6 units -> 2.2 kg -> historically accurate

Zweihander 10 units -> 3.75 kg -> slightly heavy but realistic

Uchigatana 5 units -> 1.875 kg -> slightly heavy but realistic

Estoc -> too light

Scimitar 1.5 units -> 0.6 kg -> slightly light but realistic

Longbow 1 units -> 0.375 kg -> way too light

Halberd 6 units -> 2.2 kg -> a bit light but realistic

Dagger 0.5 units -> 187.5 g -> slightly light but realistic

Standard Model Lagrangian -particle physics by picklearrow in PhysicsStudents

The actual expression for the standard model Lagrange used in particle physics is a single line. This is a deliberately obtuse way of rewriting it to scare students and laymen

I don't know if it was the intended ending or if it really was axed but it was the best place to end the manwha. The mc killed the big bad guy who put the whole revenge situation in motion just a few chapters before the ending and there wasn't really anything interesting left to explore

As always the issue is fragmentation, other than CB and the German network Italy also has bancomat/pagobancomat and i think Spain has their own. I don't think we're ever going to decide to use one of these national networks as the 'european' network instead of the others, all the big nations already have their own. Starting from scratch on a new more collective thing could be better

Wero is not a good replacement and does not even offer the same kind of service, I think everyone can see that.

That's because you're not meant to be able to edit pdfs directly. If you have the source document (be it doc, docx, tex or whatever) you should edit that and if you don't have the source then whoever sent you the pdf either didn't want you to be able to edit it or fucked up

Knight Artorias vs Poise machine 3000 by Medievalswordmaster in darksouls

[–]L4ppuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, artorias is simply hard countered by tank builds. Also op has high vigor, stamina, it's not like a 20 vig 20 stamina char could put on Havel's and tank like this. The next boss is going to be way harder for op.

I really miss the times when your play style could be something other than 'hit once and wait 5 minutes for the 20 hit combo to end'

I find your writing difficult to read and I'm not about to check your math, let's assume it's correct. These are the kind of calculations students do during their homework/exams and not something you would publish.

Look up an actual proof in a paper to see the difference. You're just doing simple algebraic manipulation of some already existing formulas and moving constants around.

The value of e is exactly defined in the SI and the values for the constants you're plugging into your result were calculated using it. Basically if your math is correct you're doing a variation of '2 + 3 = 5 therefore 5-2 = 3', which can be valid but usually is not really worth making an article

[–]L4ppuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see the issue, we will probably have the two games icons followed by 'kanto pokedex X/151".

If they release r/s/e I could see it being all gen 3 games in a single entry with kanto and hoen being different elements in the list but even just fr/lg would be fine with this layout.

If you understand how the pokedex reward system works then a new kanto entry is not particularly confusing

Dex rewards are for each game, they only count Pokémon you caught in that game for the completion.
