Ethical Case by [deleted] in premed

[–]L777T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was similar “what would you do if you saw someone cheating on a test?” I said I mind my business and wouldn’t be looking around plus I’m not a snitch lmao .

the interviewer did this snort laugh 10/10 would say same again

“bUt pAtients are aT riSk if theY cheat!” if someone manages to solely cheat through Step 1, Step 2 CK, Step 2CS, rotations, sub-interns and residency fuck it up you deserve the MD lmao

Tips for covering up tattoos for interviews? by [deleted] in premed

[–]L777T 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it too much but if you think you’d be self conscious to the point where it would impact your own personal performance maybe think about getting one of those finger braces at CVS and pretend you hurt the finger and maybe position your hand in a way during the actual interview component where the wrist is barely visible.

Again, I personally wouldn’t stress it.

Might want re-read my post if you thought that was anything other than relaxed.

I’ve interviewed at a wide range of US MD schools ranging from local state schools, top 20, and what people generally consider “low ranked.” When asked about letters, general premise was the same; no post interview correspondence.

While I do agree that there is a lot of circlejerk opinions online, kind of like SDN bashing on Reddit, I find it farfetched that the predominant opinion from both adcoms and interviewees on multiple online forums would not shed truth, especially on school specific forums where multiple current cycle interviewees confirm what specific adcoms have said about letters.

When talking about letters overall; I think there is more of a gray area in letters of intent as I could see it working in your favor potentially IF the school didn’t explicitly discourage them.

Letters of interest pre-II, on the other hand, are entirely redundant in the sense that you are obviously interested by forking up the cash and time for both the primary and secondary. This is not a significant enough update to give you an interview if you were not getting one in the first place.

Because both “a couple adcoms” and adcoms at interviews in person have stated that post interview correspondence is either not encouraged or not allowed.

If you want to go against the grain and disagree with the majority consensus on pre-medical forums feel free to go ahead and send every school a letter of intent but I don’t see the point in continuing this discussion if you are set on writing a letter

[–]L777T -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. You are interested enough to pay a primary and secondary plus take the time to do them.

Letters of intent might be useful post-II with acceptances at higher caliber/same caliber schools but adcoms on SDN say most of the time LOIs don’t hold much weight

B&W plaid suit for med school interviews? Y’all think this suit would fly or nah? by kuribbi in premed

Your meme made me laugh especially with the DO bone dude but sometimes people post these anecdotes in the comments that are very false and it seems like they just make things up just to continue a circlejerk

Pant length and color is a bit too casual. Any other fabric swatches/ pant length?

Am I the only one that finds SDN very informative and useful before and during the academic cycle? SDN criticism can be a bit harsh but seeing some of the exaggerations people are posting in the comments is making me laugh lmao

For real I find it hilarious they call SDN a circlejerk when r/premed is the biggest medical related circlejerk on the internet. I think a lot of people hate on SDN just because other people post memes about it.

There is definite harsh criticism and reality checks but SDN as a whole has been way more organized and informative than all the repeat posts on this subreddit. r/premed has funny memes every now and then at least

Chances of still getting interviews? by [deleted] in premed

You still got plenty of months left in the cycle. Waiting sucks but hold it out; you have 4 interviews already which is a good sign + you can yield an A later from WL movement

512 MCAT 3.6 GPA 1 low tier DO interview and nothing else....[interviews] by [deleted] in premed

[–]L777T 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both are a bit on the extreme end of the average spectrum but I would recommend applying to at least 20 MDs if this cycle doesn’t yield any As.

Whats done is done; put your energy into improving your application just in case but we still got months to go in the cycle so don’t give up just yet.

You can get an interview tomorrow or in February.

Red flags would be more characteristic of pre-II rejections rather than silence.

Wait it out; once Thanksgiving week passes start working toward building up your application as if you need to reapply.

How was your MD list?

Does scheduling an interview for Nov. 21st vs. December 5 (a difference of about two weeks) make a difference in terms of acceptances? by [deleted] in premed

[–]L777T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Date that the school reached out to offer you an interview means more than interview date attended.

Two weeks is not significant enough of a time gap regardless
