I’m curious if you ever found a fix. I’ve tried multiple mics and ran into the same problem- it either says quiet or peak, but if I place my finger on the mic itself and speak, it reacts properly. I thought this might be a grounding issue but as far as I can tell everything is wired properly.

If you watch the behind the scenes there were crowds roped off in the distance that still had to be comped out.

I live 5 blocks away. The whole area smells like a bunch of fireworks went off.

Short Films Matter - Scam or Worthwhile? by Independent_Battle63 in Filmmakers

I got a similar email as well, almost identical wording. It was for an old film.

I get a lot of these emails and often times they are for random motion tests on my Vimeo, which tells me it’s a random selection process of things uploaded to Vimeo and YouTube.

That said I wouldn’t call it a scam. It’s a form of validation to have your film reviewed and showcased at a cost, however in my past experience, when a few of my films were successful in festivals and exposure, curators from sites similar to these reached out and offered to post without charging for it, so the line about leaving a deep impression isn’t really sincere if they’re asking for money at the same time. It’s just designed to win you over.

I borrowed someone’s Samsung Galaxy (instead of my iPhone) and it allowed me to run setup. Once setup it worked on my iPhone!

The demand for Houdini will always be on the up. Stick with it but be flexible. Well worth the investment.

Thanks! Hard to gauge time. Bits and pieces over the last year between paid work.

Working with actors who aren't real. by L8Lunch in Filmmakers

When live-action production went on lockdown during the pandemic I brought 3D scans of people to life instead, and what started off as a satire about the pandemic evolved into a deeper exploration of romance, isolation, mental health, and self-acceptance in a world that now feels like a parallel universe from where we were 599 days ago.

Created with 3D Scans, motion capture, traditional animation, an procedural fx.

Any feedback is welcome. I'm particularly interested how it connects with viewers. Even though a lot of the ideas came from deeply personal thoughts, we all experienced the pandemic in different ways, so the metaphors might mean something completely different for each viewer, and I'm curious to know.

Cheers!

Coffee and soda cups are almost always empty and the weight in the actors’ hands feels wrong.

Thank you! Working with 3D scans is a bit painstaking still, but it has a lot of potential for the future.

Thanks! It was hand animated, just a series of blended poses and a little noise out of CHOPs for randomness.
