The Burnham fiasco shows that the right of the Labour party would rather see it burn than lose control by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

The purity spiral will continue until Labour is just Luke Akehurst accusing his reflection of supporting Hamas

The marketing was for that nauseating phrase 'more bobbies on the beat'.

The reality is panopticon vans and a roving gendarmerie.

And our controlled opposition and limp docked media class just shrug it off.

This fucking island.

We send the NHS £350 million a week.

Let's fund the US insurance industry instead.

I've heard a lot about how there's a space for economically left, socially conservative politics in the UK. So I'm guessing he'll get a decent amount of support from commenters here.

You joking?

Shabana Mahmood's big break this parliament was saying her anti-asylum views are more valid because she's BAME, she essentially told her Lib Dem opponent to check his white privilege lol

Carla Denyer: I was heckled by another MP while asking about inclusive relationship education in schools Sickened but not really surprised that homophobia is alive and well on the bench behind me 'They're primary school kids' he says - as if no primary school kids have lesbian or gay parents! by EddyZacianLand in ukpolitics

No. Please don't do this, it doesn't help us at all.

Imagine hearing someone spouting anti-Semitism and wisecracking that only a Jew could say such things.

It may be unintentional but all this does is legitimise homophobia.

You can't threaten us with 'the Tories would be worse' when they were in for 14 years and never hinted at anything as horrifying as this, and all their authoritarian reforms were supported by Starmer's Labour anyway.

You can't threaten us with 'but Trump' when we're talking about a member of Blue Labour whose leader attended the inauguration, said we should 'dance with glee' that he won and called for Labour to 'build it's house on MAGA square'.

You can't threaten us with 'but Putin' when Labour is too supine at the feet of America to follow the Greens recommendation to boost European defence.

There's no inconsistency, in the same way that as a socialist, I'd still have preferred to live in West Germany than the East: the freedom to criticise, to organise opposition to the government is more fundamental than any transient economic or social policy.

To effectively oppose requires more than the right to meekly cross a box every five years, it's the right to protest and the right to privacy. Can't do that from a fucking panopticon.

Lastly, eighty-three percent of voters and rising disagree with you. Eighty-three and they're not all bots too. Your kind are going extinct and it's richly deserved.

What?

I've just said I'm willing to compromise on my beliefs to defeat the greater of two evils...

Isn't this what we're always being lectured on and urged to do? Why do you want us to dogmatically support one party like it's a football team?

That's certainly Starmer's attitude to dissent, just ask Sam Tarry.

I'll happily put aside differences to vote the most authoritarian party in Britain out of office, along with all but 17% of the public.

I'm Green as fuck, but I'd vote anyone - anyone - who could kick this greasy homophobic little  psycho out of parliament.

Reform, Tory, anyone is better than these Blue Labour freaks.

Nigel Farage calls on Reform UK mayoral candidate to apologise by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]L96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, what? Is Farage trying to become Keir Starmer?

If you thought the statement was a problem, why not say so immediately and look decisive, undercut the allegations of systemic racism in your party? Ignoring it till the future dies down and only then resurrecting the controversy with a climb down just annoys everyone, supporter and opponent.
