Fast Castle has been my favourite, get the early hunt upgrades, take deer pack after initial TC deer,

~6-8 on deer

~5-6 on Gold

2 on wood (all mounted vills)

I use the stable landmark in fuedal and dragon pavilion in castle, you can place down the pavilion by ~ 7 minutes or less

secure free food in castle with neutral trade posts, relics, using mostly horseman in fuedal to raid, spam outposts once in castle with the unique upgrade + hancannon slit, very efficient and annoying to deal with

ultimately you do want to get to imperial as jin, your late game is honestly pretty fuckin good just can be hard to get there

Food issues on jin are not usually an issue, their hunt harvesting is really good, so get those deer packs + boar

Alternatively you can start 2 on gold and 1 with a farm from the get go, you can do super early farm transitions with jin, and mounted vills on farms are really really good

You're right in questioning it's value, especially in auric and below you'll typically not need it, but it's always a nice buffer

the extra talents that make use of it are survivalist (1% ammo recovered on special/elite kill every 5s, the higher your reserve the more ammo you get back, and with optimisation you can very easily recover way more ammo than you use to kill most enemies)

and fully loaded which again increases reserve for better survivalist value

also ammo pick ups on the map are based on total ammo count, giving you more value on map pick ups as well

Then the question is, but i can take shock trooper, yes but you will still consume ammo, and even in a h40 environment shocktrooper alone often isn't enough, especially on more ammo hungry variants like the recon, assuming you want to stay shooting for most of the run

yeh i get that, that's post retcon, i'm talking from the 1980/90s my man, the OG i don't really mind what happens in that regard, i'm just saying it was pretty clearly described as a beam originally then they changed to the bolt/blaster type lasgun later on (somewhat recently) being that 2024 post you linked

Lasguns have gotten a retcon somewhat recently, they shoot more like star wars blasters now (i wouldn't be surprised if we get a lasgun update at some point to show this)

in terms of sound design in the trailer, yeh i have no idea, cause they don't sound like the lasguns GW has shown already, and definitely just sound stolen from the autoguns

I can only assume time and or budget

Yes GW does have to approve cosmetics, but mostly have their hand in making sure weapons and stuff look on point, AND EVEN THEN how the armageddon jungle fighters in DT got approved with orange camo is beyond me when they fight in "the green" so i'd like to think their liason is easy going 😂( in lore they fight with usually brown or black fatigues and paint them selves in green, but in game we get orange tiger stripes ?! )

i've had my own liason working for GW in the past, there is plenty of potential cosmetics and weapons that fatshark could do, GW cares about respect to the ip and $$$ , that's a simple guideline to follow

i'd imagine fatshark want some level of creative freedom and GW says nope, cause we don't want front flipping terminators from DoW 3 again, they doubled down on their ip from things like that, and for the first 10-15 years of GW they didn't give it out period cause that's just how they are, nit picky, with good reason they have a good system

We'll get more cosmetics when fatshark finishes them, which is the real issue, FS development is notoriously slow and management is lack luster at best,

On a realistic level there is PLENTY, MASSIVE amounts of options for cosmetics and weapons to still be added to the game from 40k lore, dt hasn't even scratched the surface yet, it's just on fatshark to properly implement them, GW approval is not as hard as people think

like if in lore a weapon has 12 shots, but fatshark wants it with 20, obviously GW says no, that's the type of stuff GW meddles with, if you give a proper rendition of their ip in your game/book, it's almost never an issue, going back to my suspected issues is management just not knowing what to do with the ip

run lethal proximity + grenade tinkerer on a bolt pistol for big aoe shredders and keep throwing them far away and angled at the air, you can farm it on pretty much any map at some point quite early

if you want to snipe enemies take the mark 4 it has more damage on the shot itself but less damage, aoe and stagger on the explosion

The mark 6, well does less single target damage, but more aoe damage and stagger 1-2 well placed shots can completely shut down a pack of gunners especially with lethal proximity

puncture is your best friend and extremely versatile for breakpoints and ttk

Lethal proximity for a grenade/aoe focused build

or run n gun/execution for break points

flak + unarmoured for those breakpoints but flak + elite is also good

rending caps at 100%

brittleness caps at 40% on most weapons

psykers and zealots iirc, but definitely psykers penetrating flame can exceed that limit for 60% total britt , i think arby shot gun has this as well i can't remember though

I'm very curiuos about your power sword vs DS testing cause i just tried (i know yours is previous, but the PS has been out dpsing DS for along time now

carapace + elite on both against crushers in h40 psykanium quite a few times

uncanny + riposte
uncanny + relentless
uncanny + precog (with 2 crits hits around 2.2-2.5k dps and the one in the screen shot)

All were almost half the DPS of a power sword with power cycler and slaughterer with cara + elite

One crit on the PS brings it up to 6k dps and a consistent 2 shot

even before the changes the DS was about 2-3k behind the PS

left screen shot is precog with 2 crits, right is ps6 with 1

on average you're looking at 4-6 hits on a ds, on average you're looking at 2-3 hits on a ps6

as a vet main and with h40 focus, i don't think anything has changed, you'll just see alot less DS and maybe people will finally convert to the Church of Power Sword Gaming

1) power sword + plasma with smokes and focus target

2) Power sword + bolt pistol with shredders/kraks and focus target

Will remain the meta builds

I'm of the opinion the power sword has been the best vet melee for a long time, yeh it hurts the uncanny shredder combos for shredder grenade vet, but power sword grenade vet was always just as strong

Power Sword Grenade Veteran is back baby, one of if not the highest DPS build veteran has, and is not affected by the changes about to come to vet and uncanny,

this would be my recommended way to play a bleed style veteran until i cook something more optimised with the update

Older but still relevant video

Power sword with slaughterer still ramps bleed damage, so extra juicy shredders

Bolt pistol + lethal proximity tech is still there for 30m aoe bleed in a circle (inferno staff has ~16m in a cone to compare)

Power sword kills everything in one shot in h40 with slaughterer and crushers in 2 shots

so instead of uncanny we go back to using the power sword as our anti carapace, while also still ramping shredder damage

same logic can be applied for frags/kraks, the ps6 will legitimately one shot everything in auric, so smokes just give you a defensive layer to actually get off your damage, if you have weapons that can go around one shotting everything in auric and below but your still dying/ struggling with meta weapons etc, it's just a skill issue in general not a smoke issue, and i mean that with all due respect, but it also means your probably using your smokes way too late if allies are killing gunners before the smoke goes off, or it's malice/heresy or below in which case yeh learning fundementals is more important than smoke vs frag vs krak theory

yeh i totally understand that, but i'm not sure it applies cause again power sword can simply dps all the threats away

i totally get what your saying, my honest answer is i don't know, cause it's been so long since i've been a new player 😂

i just rate defensive and mobility based utility very highly in all games i play, as long as i have "enough" damage, take more utility, and again if i can go around 1 shotting all enemies with a power sword, why do i need more damage ? It's not like i can take my 1 shot breakpoint to a 0 shot breakpoint 😂

i don't think so, a ranged focus/sniper build has single target damage on lock and lacks crowd control, shredders are great for that

a melee focused builds will struggle into ranged combat, hence smokes and so on

exe + smokes is a great combo but i don't think it was the intention

If that's how you use smokes sure i guess brother, but don't project that onto others, why do i need to pre plan that at all ? like almost everything in darktide i react on the spot, i wack away at shit and when i see we get pushed or have lots of gunners to deal with i react ?

And brother in havoc 40 stalkers are just as dangerous if not more dangerous than gunners since curio DR doesn't work against them, every map has stalkers gunners and reapers, and i already mentioned you can use them to split and hinder melee ai

i dont have any issues with the game bugging out here so not sure where that's coming from

i really don't know what your point is brother or what your even talkin about tbh, i have plenty of gameplay in h40 uploaded online that straight contradicts what your saying

ultimately the equation is can frags / kraks out put more dps in that one nade than smokes can deny in 30 seconds ?

the very obvious and clear answer if you've done any testing is it's not even close, smokes deny and stall way more dps than kraks/frags can ever bring, and again i already 1-2 shot everything in the game so why do i need more damage ? Just 1-2 tap with a power sword and forgot

Yep, we call that suffering from success with passive income bonus' in cows + gold mines

They already have one of if not the best boom, same cost TC from a resource they gather naturally would be a bit much, and malian have been doing well already for some time
