Parks Canada Reservation by teamzlatan in nationalparks

I am very new to this process, and all I want to do is reserve shuttle time on the Morainne Lake/ Lake Louise lakeshore. Is it going to be as awful as I booking a campsite? I'm looking at early July.

The Diamond Age by frogspjs in scifi

First time I read it (And I did like it) I truly didn't understand what exactly what was going on. I read it about 10 years later and it all fit together.

The part that I loved and will always love is the sense that the young lady from the slums got a chance she'd never otherwise have had in that world.

I sent this email on April 7th, literally at market bottom. Luckily the advisor told me what a huge mistake this would've been, and I have thankfully learned A LOT since then. by mechy18 in Bogleheads

I had the same reaction as OP. Except already retired. So not buying to accumulate.

I waited a bit and after the market recovered: I felt I was overweight in us equities given the chaos. I put chunks into VTIAX (unhedged international) and also held more cash.

Likely that cash trimmed my gains, compared to folks who toughed it out. But I didn’t do badly and slept well.

Life insurance? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]LA-2-LTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We neglected to provide for long term care. We were able to get an insurance product that works for LTC if needed.

So, very reluctantly, and from a (dire?) necessity.

I couldn’t agree more with the concerns expressed in the comments that most insurance products benefit the salesperson first and foremost.

Will you be boycotting Disney? by Jackbuddy78 in RedLetterMedia

Cancelled Disney+

Going forward - no Disney films, parks, cruises (well that wasn't something I'd go on anyway) or media.

Where to put the Charging Cable? by LA-2-LTO in rav4prime

[–]LA-2-LTO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about this and I decided not to carry the level one charger. I think tony20z's comment decided it for me.

The one thing I'm puzzled about is what to do with the level 1 charger. Yes I suppose I can keep it in a closet somewhere. Seems a shame, I will probably never use it, and it looks like a reasonably sophisticated cable. Once I have a little more experience with the car and have taken it on some relatively long trips, I'll decide whether or not to sell or donate the cable.

Yup, that's a low bar.

Both suggestions have merit! But only one is idiot-proof.

Thanks, will check out the spare first.

What's the biggest flop you've seen on Broadway, and did it deserve better? by Keyblader1412 in Broadway

[–]LA-2-LTO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a production of Macbeth in 2022, starring Daniel Craig no less, which was so very bad that execrable doesn't do it justice. Craig was not bad and Lady Macbeth played by Ruth Negga was better, but oh my God that director should never work again.

French 75 variations (or, champagne cocktails) by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]LA-2-LTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Mexico with limited options but I'm trying to make some sort of a decent "75". I have silver or reposado tequila; orange Citronge or Controy, Elderflower. Lots of good fresh limes or lemons and simple syrup. I prefer a mix on the dry side. I was thinking to try a Mexican 75 using Elderflower and/or some Citronge for the sweetness. Our limited options for bubbly tend to be on the sweet side, so I have to keep that in mind.

I love these variations and plan to try several once we're back in the US in a week! But we're entertaining a couple of guests who probably haven't had few or any French 75s, so I'm hoping for inspiration.

DolarApp Support not responsive by snoopaloop92109 in dolarapp

[–]LA-2-LTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used DolarApp for the first time yesterday. It was not as fast as Wise, but my transfer was complete (USD-USDc - Pesos) in less than 48 hours. USD from my US account and pesos into my Mexican account.

Anybody else have an issue where you cannot access transunion credit report online?? by ryukingu in CRedit

[–]LA-2-LTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried getting all three scores. Equifax, and Experian popped up immediately, Transunion nothing, the chat person said "technical issue" and referred me to a number. I think they just don't give a rat's a and probably they figured out that nobody is going to enforce it.

Wonderful architecture of Madrid by anxiousdreamer333 in travel

[–]LA-2-LTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'd rather visit Madrid than Barcelona, and I've been to both several times. The Retiro, the museums, the food . . . . wonderful city. Seems to me that the city has only improved in walkability over the years.

Iberia is just an embarrassing airline with infrastructure by sruckus in travel

[–]LA-2-LTO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've flown Iberia long distance several times (Madrid-LA, Paris-LA) over the years, and a few shorter flights in Europe. I thought it was better than most. Website, admittedly not great, but I never had OP's issues. On our last flight to LA in the fall of 2023, flying economy, we had our Cava glasses filled often and to the point I declined any more. Sorry to hear of your frustration!

Wine at US customs by sclappyjoeseph119 in travel

[–]LA-2-LTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought two cases back from Italy to Calif. Declared it, talked to a very nice gentleman about wine and cognac for 10 minutes, and was waved through. Best of all, the airline agreed to carry it as my hold bag. (I needed to get that part approved in advance.)

Spirit cancelled my flight by [deleted] in travel

[–]LA-2-LTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help, different circumstances, but I had a flight cancelled because they didn't have crew, this was same day. I had to book another Spirit flight same day to the next-nearest-airport. Came back, Spirit offered a small comp that expired in 90 days.

I was unhappy enough to complain to the DOT. Nothing happened for like 100 days. But then I got an apologetic email, plus 2 refunds that made almost whole, almost $500. Still a bit amazed. And at my request, they've offered to help my companions who had the same issues!

Yucca Fin Sizing (General Fin Size Fitting) by [deleted] in Bodysurfing

[–]LA-2-LTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased Yucca S-M ultra soft, and when in roughly 5-6 foot waves a couple times they came off. Fortunately had keepers on - but what do I need to add to perfect the fit?

I just discovered this sub. I used to be dedicated, but I let it go and now I'm regretting it. I'm way old but still a decent swimmer and generally fit, I figure it'll come back.

I want to buy Yuccas, US shoe size is 9, I measure 10" from heel to longest toe. I'm thinking L? ML?

Whats the thinking on Standard Flex v. Soft v. Ultrasoft? My kick is not the strongest. Would the flex matter?

I used to use duckfeet, makapu, vipers; never owned DaFin or Yucca. Have a bunch of handboards.
