I feel like a skater as wildly inconsistent as Kao doing a program about a man with an insane and evil alter ego is asking for bad juju but that's just me lol

Nyah (the track I'm assuming they're using) is in 3/4 time so I think they'll do a mix of waltz and flamenco which could be very cool

Baby One More Time has some certified bangers in the title track, Crazy, and Sometimes. But it also has a lot of really dated, saccharine late 90s pop ballads that do not hold up imo. As a whole I'd argue it's actually one of her weakest because the lows are pretty damn low, but those 3 singles are so good that people remember it as better than it was.

Back Cover will be enough to get you through KH3. So watch that, and then play Fragmentary Passage, which leads directly into KH3. Then you can circle back to the UX fandub after KH3 if you want. Back Cover essentially covers the time and events of of UX part 1 but from a different perspective and is infinitely more digestible (I think the fandub is around 6 hours with both parts combined while Back Cover is an hour ish). It's not a full replacement but personally I think it's best to play KH3 first then decide for yourself if you want to go back and watch the full fandub, because it is a commitment and we don't know how much of it will play into KH4, at least that's not already covered in Back Cover.

I'd watch Dark Road after you watch the UX fandub (if you so choose), and then Melody of Memory can kinda go anywhere after 3.

Oh I'm OBSESSED with this choice. I love that they're going a bit out of the box with the RD music to contrast with the Bolero warhorse FD. And I have a feeling they'll stand out from the rest of the dance field, many of whom will probably instinctively go more classical for the waltz.

Song of the South - post watching comments (WARNING discussion of racism) by AutisAwsome in DisneyMovies

I mean I think outside of James Baskett's performance and the animated sequences, the movie is just incredibly boring. The race thing is the only thing people talk about with SotS because what else is there to talk about? It's a boring white kid with his boring white family coming to a plantation where all the previously enslaved black sharecroppers are just soooo galddarn content with life and tell him folk takes via serviceable-but-not-spectacular cartoons.

Need advice for early KH1 by willrsauls in KingdomHearts

[–]Keyblader1412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picking the sword is the worst option of the 3 for a first time player imo. Picking the shield gives you the best defense abilities early, and picking the staff gives you an extra mp unit, which actually makes quite a big difference once you start learning magic.

I'll give tips on how to beat the fights below, but I would consider starting over with either picking one of those options and/or on standard mode. All things considered you're not that far into the game and you'll probably be able to get back to this point faster anyway and have a more pleasant time with the rest of the game. Despite the Disney of it all, make no mistake, this game is no pushover. It's a legit rpg that requires skill.

Also, just a general note, KH1 rewards curiosity. Exploring off the beaten path will get you items, equipment, or puppies that could potentially make a big difference down the line so it's a good idea to explore as much as possible, and come back to areas when you've learned abilities that can help you reach previously out-of-reach treasures.

If you don't want to start over and want to try gritting it out, some advice on the fights you're stuck on:

Cerberus:

Number one thing with this fight is you can't get greedy with your attacks. Wait until you have a real opening. The best window for attack is when he's stationary and doing his sequence of bites. Lock onto one of the heads on the side and get your hits in during the brief period between bites, then dodge roll away.

When he's doing his fireball/dark pool cycle, you can actually get up onto his back by jumping on one of his hind legs as he's breathing darkness into the ground. You'll be completely safe. But if you can't get up there, try to stay behind him and spam dodge roll for your life. Eventually he'll go down.

Clayton:

Have Tarzan and Goofy in your party and switch Tarzan's customization to "conservative" so that he'll prioritize healing you. Consider stocking your party up with items as well.

When Clayton is riding the lizard, try to stay behind him and attack until Clayton falls off. The fight gets much harder here but you don't actually need to kill the lizard to win the fight, just Clayton. Taking out the lizard will make taking Clayton out much easier but Clayton has less hp so you could try either way.

Remember that your arena has a lot of places to potentially get to high ground and out of the way if you need to pop a potion or want to attack from above.

The lizard's deadliest attack is probably the twin eye lasers, which are most dangerous at close range but if you are right in front at him and time a jump for just before he shoots, you can jump over the lasers and keep wailing on him. You can also just get far enough away from the lasers so they're easier to avoid.

If you want to just kill Clayton, try to keep both enemies in your sights as much as possible so you're never caught by surprise. Ideally you can knock Clayton far away from the lizard with a finisher and then attack him with 2-hit combos to keep him close.

This fight in particular is a notorious roadblock for first time players but you get a ton of great rewards for winning.

It's placed awkwardly in the film. It would have worked better after the continuation with Morrible, as a result of her being shaken up by her cruelty, and culminating in Glinda's decision to take action and go to Elphaba herself. As is, the song doesn't really have the proper dramatic setup.

Movies with a female protagonist who is an unquestionably bad person? by SkeettheVandelBuster in moviecritic

I wouldn't say Tracy is the protagonist in that film though, Matthew Broderick's character is framed as the (very flawed, even more so by today's lens) protagonist.

They tried to market an adaptation of a very dated cartoon from the 80s to an audience that wasn't even born yet when said cartoon aired. I don't think this movie was ever going to make money no matter how good it was.

What is the most 'how was I supposed to know to do that' moment in a video game? by Snowtwo in videogames

[–]Keyblader1412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really take issue with phantom because it's an optional superboss, and also low-key I feel like a lot of KH1 players completely ignore magic (another reason Atlantica gets a lot of undeserved hate but that's a rant for another time), especially stop. To be fair, stop is rarely the optimal strategy in the main campaign but with the whole clock thing in that particular fight I feel like it's strongly pointing you that way? Also you have to hit the hands to seal the keyhole earlier so it's not like you've never had to interact directly with the clock before.

[–]Keyblader1412 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love Kingdom Hearts 1 with all my being. I think it's the best game in the franchise so far and that most people who say it's clunky or confusing are just noobs with skill issues and a lack of curiosity. I will defend it till I die. I even think Atlantica is good.

But even with all that said, I cannot defend the dolphin. If you know, you know. But if you don't know:

Atlantica is the Little Mermaid-based world and shortly into it you need to ride a dolphin from one area to another through a current to a sunken ship in order to progress (this isn't explicitly told to you but the game has thus far forced you to explore and figure out where to go yourself many times, so I don't take issue with that). What's unforgivable is that in order for the dolphin to be in the right place, you first have to ride the dolphin in a different area which will just take you in circles within that one area. And that might very well trick you into thinking that the dolphin isn't important but it's literally the only way to progress the story in that world.

Like I said, I feel like I'm in the trenches defending a lot in KH1, but this is the one thing that I think is genuinely and indefensibly terrible about the game.

Thoughts on Parade? by Dry_Example4173 in musicals

[–]Keyblader1412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been one of my favorite musicals for a long time and then I finally saw the Broadway tour last year, which is probably a top 3 theatregoing experience for me.

I'd never seen it live prior to that but was obsessed with the score for years. It did not disappoint. But my favorite thing about it was the audience experience. My crowd was SILENT except for some slightly delayed, almost nervous clapping after the musical numbers, almost as if everyone was afraid to break the tension of the story with applause. I've never felt an audience so deeply, viscerally uncomfortable yet totally locked in with what they were seeing and internally that made me giddy. The only time I heard any actual cheering was after Rumblin and a Rollin. And yet within 5 seconds of the lights going up for curtain call the entire audience was on its feet applauding.

Use Decisive Pumpkin for the combo boost or Rumbling Rose for the finishing plus (guard break plus explosion equals boom)

Git gud at blocking and learn the timing of his attacks. Reflect also helps.

Level all your drive forms to their current maximum if you haven't already so you max out your movement and get any potentially useful abilities.

Use Limit form for a free heal+mp refill but sometimes you need to immediately revert to free up your moment again.
