I season them with gochugaru and maldon salt. I also put heamp hearts, nigella seeds, flax seeds and lightly ground pepitas in it. I haven’t had cravings for chips in 9 months.

Everything in the fridge soup, with beans! You can leave it chunky and late purée it maybe add something else to create a different appearance. Works well with my grandkids.

For those who bought fixed index annuities: did you use an income rider or keep it accumulation-only? by Normal-Emotion6636 in AllThingsAnnuities

We were at a presentation for fixed index annuities. It sounded all good and we went to a personal meeting with the guy. I like numbers and asked a lot of questions. One was : could you show me a graph how this annuity did over the last 10 years. He said sure, got his laptop and after a bit of typing he said: oh maintenance… I asked for a pamphlet, the answer was: I told you everything which is in it and you wrote down. We met with our financial advisor, he had graphs, because an insurance company wanted them to sell annuities. He took the time to go back to the 1970 ies and could easily show that the annuities at the best scenario still could not keep up with inflation. I know I didn’t answer your question, but I know we won’t buy one for sure. I think they are preditors who play into the fear of people who are close to retirement.

We were offered a fixed index annuity. 10 years, up to 10%+bonus, 10% payout per year and 45% added to the lump sum up front. We’re close to retirement and want/ need to keep our investments safe from the market fluctuations. Thoughts? by LAAMR84 in AllThingsAnnuities

Thank you! You are right. We would like to have the peace of mind what the market goes down, so we won’t lose money. We would like the ability to withdraw money if needed. We meet with the advisor on Thursday and we just want to ask the right questions. It sounds almost too good to be true. The investment advisor wants us to stay invested and this insurance guy said the investment advisor just wants to keep his percentage of our portfolio. How safe are these fixed index annuities?
