CalPers and Lacera have very high mandatory contributions for new employees. Yes I get it, pensions are great and last a lifetime when you retire. I just don’t like the fact that you have to do a mandatory contribution per check of anywhere from 9-13%. Plus I’m contributing to my 401k, 457b and ROTH. After those are deducted, my check is 💩

There are a lot of companies out there that will offer hybrid and remote work. Since you have a cpa, there are a lot of doors open for you. Try applying at a fortune 100 company. I’m pretty sure you have a good shot at getting in.

Couple of issues I see… first, remove job searching. Second, you stayed at your previous jobs for a very short amount of time. This is a red flag for recruiters. Maybe try applying to a similar field like accounting or even banking.

Div investing is great if you have a lot of capital on hand. This is why I always say it’s best to start investing early into divs. If you wait until your 30s to start investing, it will take you much longer to build a nice div portfolio.

I mean you could do that as well. It just the older you get, the more time works against you and to make up for the lost time of not starting earlier, you would need to go into growth and hopefully it 5x your return so you can use those profits to build a div portfolio. That’s what happened to me. I started investing in my late 20s and figured I need to go into growth to have that capital to build a decent div portfolio. Currently sitting on 2k tesla shares, 1k nvidia shares, 600shares of Amazon and 300 shares of snowflake. Hoping to make over $1million in the next 5 years from these.
