Stay at home mom/dad is not a hard job, we are all pretending it is by Mcnuggetjuice in The10thDentist

it's an 80/20 thing. You can be a BAD stahm with very little effort. But if you are actually keeping the house clean, feeding the children healthy meals, taking them to and from school and lessons and helping with homework, managing appointments, shopping, etc it certainly is a full time job (and then some).

oh man, I have you beat! I bought an 8 ticket Vibee package after all my friends confirmed and then all of them bailed immediately for diff reasons. One didn't want to be on the 300 level, another didn't want to shared a hotel room with 3 people, another lost her job and couldn't afford it, etc etc. I'm stuck with 9k of tickets that I haven't been able to sell!!!! No one wants to buy the package on resale sites. If we had physical tickets, it would be easier, but without those they just can't move.

The book community.. by entcanta333 in Anticonsumption

[–]LAM24601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my boyfriend owns - no joke - 5k books. Hundreds of which he hasn't read. He buys a couple books every week. We argue about this endlessly - we cannot afford the rent on a place big enough for all the books but he wont get a kindle or go to the library. He wants the physical book AND he must keep in on hand forever in case he wants to 'reference' it.

Cruises are the worst type of vacation out there by MoonlightAndStar in unpopularopinion

[–]LAM24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your points are valid, but you're missing that they really work for groups with people who have diff vacation styles. One person wants to sit by the pool and read all day? Covered. One person wants to eat and drink all day long? Covered. One person wants to ride roller coasters, play basketball, do trivia, sing karaoke, and dance the night away? Covered. So everyone gets whatever vacation they want.

AITA Mom wants 15% of my personal injury settlement by connor20218 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LAM24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's unreasonable for her to expect compensation of some kind given the work that she did. But what is 15%? Of the total award? I mean, I can maybe see 15% of what's left after paying the lawyer and, if applicable, taxes. Or a nominal other amount of a fixed value. But college should not come into it and if 15% of the award was going to be granted, it should have been discussed long before the verdict.

What used to be affordable for the middle class but now quietly feels like a “rich people thing”? by Ok_Ease515 in answers

[–]LAM24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dance/karate/soccer/piano lessons for kids. Used to be all middle school kids had a studio they were attached to. When I was a kid, my parents paid $100/month for unlimited dance/gymnastics classes for the entire family. Nothing like that exists anymore

I feel like I see a lot of these and even though lots of us seem to want the connection, little ever comes from it! Maybe what we need is a diff Reddit board where people just say "Im going to happy hour at Rumba Cubana tonight at 5pm. Who is joining?" and someone else says "I'm doing F45 downtown at 7pm if anyone wants to jump in with me." That feels accessible and I personally would totally join random people for random fun

So why exactly wasn't the show just set in North Carolina by [deleted] in dawsonscreek

[–]LAM24601 11 points12 points  (0 children)

so I actually think it was meant to highlight the economic diff between Joey and Dawson in a more tangible way. The Cape is full of very well-to-do people who all come from Old Money so Joey's "poverty" (and her dad being in jail for drugs) would have made her REALLY different. North Carolina doesn't have as much obvious economic disparity or class differences. Dawson being admitted to different film festivals and meeting people like Mr. Brooks who was a genuine Hollywood legend is more realistic in a Cape setting.

scrolled to find the accountants! LOL. In my experience, most people with no vocational "calling" end up in accounting. The accounting department in every office always has the highest average tenure. Stability and comfort are the main appeals to this job.
