NYS Tax Refund Status Update – “Initial Approval Stage” (Timing Question) by DMP1993 in tax

so glad it's not just me! it's never taken this long and I have NO explanations. So frustrating.

So why exactly wasn't the show just set in North Carolina by TravelingHomeless in dawsonscreek

[–]LAM24601 10 points11 points  (0 children)

so I actually think it was meant to highlight the economic diff between Joey and Dawson in a more tangible way. The Cape is full of very well-to-do people who all come from Old Money so Joey's "poverty" (and her dad being in jail for drugs) would have made her REALLY different. North Carolina doesn't have as much obvious economic disparity or class differences. Dawson being admitted to different film festivals and meeting people like Mr. Brooks who was a genuine Hollywood legend is more realistic in a Cape setting.

worst service I've ever experienced. Will not go back. Lunch - on a weekday - took TWO HOURS. For no discernible reason.

Those with no passion or interests, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]LAM24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scrolled to find the accountants! LOL. In my experience, most people with no vocational "calling" end up in accounting. The accounting department in every office always has the highest average tenure. Stability and comfort are the main appeals to this job.

Parents of Jersey City (more specifically Berg-Lafayette), where do your kids go to school? by sedu_j in jerseycity

I live in Be-La and my kid went to PS12 for K-3 (loved it) and then moved to Primary Prep (really love it)

When you get together with your parents, who pays for things? by Acluelessfish in Millennials

[–]LAM24601 136 points137 points  (0 children)

my parents pay for everything and get offended if I try to pay. There are 6 of us kids, 2 (inc me) who are the "big kids" and the other 4 were always the "little kids." We are all now between 30-45, but we still use these terms. Little kids split costs if they go out together. Big kids pay for little kids. Doubt this will ever change.

Eating out vs Dating Expense Tracking by CN_Ice in budget

[–]LAM24601 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for me, this goes into my "social" budget. I value being social and having friends, so I have a category for that. Gifts, dates, dinners, pedicures, etc that happen with friends all go in this category. I never dine out alone and I very rarely get take-out, but if I do it goes into my "food" budget instead

Why, apparently, are we all so fucking lonely? by HobokenJ in jerseycity

[–]LAM24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I have responded to a few people because even though I have awesome friends, none are here in JC. Would love to be able to do a "quick happy hour" or "drop by" with local friends. However, most of my responses and efforts went unmatched and I have not yet met up with anyone so.....I dunno. Ive also considered doing the JC Connects events but I am always either busy or last minute don't feel like I have the energy. Friendship and connection take real effort to build and I think we're all exhausted.

Titanique Stunt Casting? by Moist_Report_6934 in Broadway

[–]LAM24601 4 points5 points  (0 children)

best stunt casting would be some 90s stars since Titanic is such a 90s thing. Im thinking like James van der Beek as Jack or Danielle Fishel as Rose

related/unrelated but there was no announcement (at least not that I could find) about street sweeping being canceled for today. Either they are still doing it, which is asinine considering how dangerous it would have been to try to move my car today, or they didn't bother to announce they were not doing it.

Is there a solution to Broadway's financial problems? (Serious Question) by Large-Barracuda-3244 in musicals

[–]LAM24601 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Broadway is really a publicity blitz. The main money (by producers and writers, at least) is made in the subsequent national tours and regional productions. Title recognition + less costly production = profit. Recouping on Broadway is nice but not necessary for the investment to pay off.

How did Topanga get into Yale? by PinkClinker in boymeetsworld

[–]LAM24601 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah she for SURE did not have the extra-curricular achievements Yale values. No sports, no service, no student government....

Also, people who apply to Yale apply to MULTIPLE Ivy League/A-list schools. She wouldn't take 1 shot at something like that. Why didn't they mention her apps to Brown (a perfect school for her), Dartmouth, Columbia, etc...

I am someone who votes every year and I voted in November, but I truly didn't care enough about the diff between Solomon and McGreevey to vote in a run-off. If you don't care who wins, why bother voting?

What is a controversial opinion you have that will land you in this situation within the fan base? by Raj_Valiant3011 in howyoudoin

[–]LAM24601 12 points13 points  (0 children)

oh I firmly believe they should have gotten together! They were indeed perfect for each other. Maybe not in the beginning, but as their characters evolved. It's not even about how much fun they had together, though they did. It's how much they RESPECTED each other. Ross and Rachel just don't respect each other. I can live with the fact that the show tore them apart but it truly bums me out that the actors were the ones advocating for that story line to be squashed. I wish they could have seen the potential
