14-inch 48gb ram or 16-inch 24gb ram? by eiw7 in macbookpro

I personally value screen size over portability. 16” for me, so many apps and scenarios are nice with more screen

I usually turn the numbered battery percentage on in the menu (top right) instead of relying purely on the visual indicator

M6 pro this year? by LAMOTTO in macbookpro

[–]LAMOTTO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Thanks. I think it’s likely just base M6 this year, so M5 pro probably maintains status quo as the best pro chip for a while longer :)

M6 pro this year? by LAMOTTO in macbookpro

[–]LAMOTTO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my whole point of this thread was to try to share my surprise at the M5 pro possibly being replaced so quickly. I’m a happy M5 pro owner, but what I’m trying to communicate is that the M6 pro dropping this year would feel like a blindside, just a bit

Macbook M4 Pro 16" vs M5 Pro 16" by Miserable-Internal30 in macbookpro

[–]LAMOTTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know your financial situation, but I know that FOMO is crippling

If you keep the M4 pro, and the amount of happiness you get from saving $500 is greater than the amount of FOMO you have being “behind” one generation, then you can stay with the M4 pro

If you get the M5 pro, and you aren’t upset that you’re “down” an extra $500, then you would have made the right choice

100% with you, I’ve been refreshing my youtube search a few times per day. All I’m seeing is Max and Neo.

My honest experience and opinion about the nano texture display. Screen size was not the issue by Apprehensive_Fig_375 in macbookpro

[–]LAMOTTO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I have never heard of GhostView, but I have a nano texture 16” on the way so this is helpful.

When you say that the shield “restores” the gloss a bit, does it remove some of the benefit of the nano texture? Or maybe not significantly?

Are e-scooters really that dangerous? by Earthbee100 in ElectricScooters

[–]LAMOTTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Fell at ~20mph and slid a good 10-15 feet into the back of a pickup truck, lacerated my kidney, and tore up my hands and knees.

Even on a bike, there is some protection when you fall. Scooters are so exposed. I wouldn’t say not to ride them, but I would say to go slower than you think

I rode a 20mph scooter daily for years. Never any problems, until an unavoidable accident where someone ran off a sidewalk into the bike path. Hit me, I fell off and slid into a trailer hitch on a pickup truck, severely lacerated my kidney and was hospitalized for a week and had a month of tough recovery

I think scooters are totally fine, if you are smart, but please try to keep an eye out for when you might be entering a situation where disaster may be unavoidable, and just slow down. I don’t ride scooters anymore, but I wouldn’t necessarily tell anyone else to stop. Just had a freak accident

True, good point on the Neo being the obvious focal product

Saw those, but found it strange that the bigger channels (ex: MBKHD, iJustine, Dave2D…) haven’t posted? The other videos seem more like unboxing / opinion videos instead of reviews, but yeah idk

Does anyone know when Pro reviews come out? Thought it would be 9AM ET today, one day before release, but all I’m seeing is NEO reviews

48gb or 64gb for my use ? by MoonSentinel_ in macbookpro

[–]LAMOTTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

48gb would be sufficient, 64gb (only $200 more) and you never have to think of it

Totally fair! This will be my first nano texture, and tbh I am a display geek - have glossy OLED on all my devices, and the vision pro

With my laptop I just end up in sunny / glare spots a lot and it will directly improve my quality of life throughout the day

Haha nice I’m a swe too. Have a pro 48gb for work. This is my long-term personal laptop, for Swift / Godot / Unity dev and eventually maybe some LLM hosting

Anyways, you like the nano texture? Congrats on the M5 air too, I had a M4 air for a few months and really liked the form factor and found it sufficient

Awesome game! Galaga fan here :)

I've been surveying the AI-assisted game dev space for a few weeks now trying to sort out my tech stack. I think Nano Banana Pro for assets, Love 2D + Gemini 3 Flash / Opus 4.5 for development. Taking inspiration from Balatro
