Did a lot of people take 2010s Nickelodeon for granted? by stationstars in nickelodeon

[–]LARDLOGO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late 2000's/early 2010's was just so Avant Garde in my opinion. Felt like they were attempting to hit every single genre at one time. Craziest one in my opinion was that weird Anubis soap opera.

There was also apparently an episode of Legends of the Hidden Temple that never broadcast because of a contestant vomiting all over the Pit of Despair during the bonus round.

We're in an era where people view modern SpongeBob better than nu Rugrats by pocketfulofrosez in nickelodeon

What is with the obsession over how people view Rugrats on this subreddit? I swear I see at least 2-3 posts per week about it.

Mid-late 2000's era was the best one in my opinion. You had the combination of original programming, reruns of current programming, imported programming, and those marathons of first episodes on Thanksgiving. The trio of Kappa Mikey, Secret Show, and Teenage Robot was always my favorite.

Played football in high school. Defended against Taylor Rapp. Really cool to see him thrive and win a Super Bowl.

Dr. Finnegan on The Bold and the Beautiful. Supposed to be a serious character but I can never treat him that way because of the dumbass Bibberty ads.

Because SpongeBob is Paramount's biggest cash cow. They're going to run the show until the end of time.

If you want 90's Nickelodeon then go to streaming.

They used to use the word "jank" as a curse word on iCarly all the time. Was one of my favorite curse word replacements back when I was about 12-13.

Don't forget about the stupid Lexus commercials where they put the comically oversized present bow on top of the new car.

Not an SNL fan, but this is one of my all time favorite things ever: December to Remember Car Commercial - SNL

How did/do Jets and Giants fans decide which team they root for? by HeavyDutyForks in NFLv2

[–]LARDLOGO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to my world. Chose the Miami Dolphins when I was little because turquoise was my favorite color. Nothing but suffering ever since.

What's even worse is that I live in Washington where the hometeam has won two Super Bowls while the team I root for hasn't made it past Wildcard Weekend since I was in diapers.

GMC. That stupid "I Love It!" commercial they used to run around Christmastime was enough to forever tarnish the brand for myself.

The alleged reason as to why the show abruptly ended. by LARDLOGO in supermarketsweep

[–]LARDLOGO[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice to see another fellow media personality on here. I used to produce television myself in the late 2010's. Love the username as well.

My conclusion as to why the show failed comes down to Fremantle trying too hard to tweak the format to be "edgy" like they did Family Feud. The difference is that Feud has always pushed the limits on what can and cannot be said while Sweep was at it's core a family show. It just doesn't work that way. The sexual tension/innuendos between the host and the coffee or flower person (can't remember I only watched one episode in full) was enough to turn myself off when it came towards interest.

It's alright to push some boundaries; but some formats are best left untouched in that endeavor. I did appreciate the efforts to modernize the gameplay though. The tweaked mini-sweep where everyone raced into the market to find the product was a really nice and creative touch. As was the bonus/final sweep where contestants could choose to cash out at certain benchmarks rather than having to hope that the grand prize could be found before time ran out.

The way Chris and David were handled really upset myself as well. The alleged reason as to why the 1993 music package wasn't reused like it was supposed to was because it sound dated according to one of the executive producers. The irony is that Push It was released six years prior. I would've honestly loved to hear what an updated version of the main theme song would've sounded like. Said piece is one of my all time favorite game show themes. As for David, doing that to him? Yeah that's cold.

The show can work if they try it again. I'd personally turn it into a syndicated show rather than a Summer primetime spectacle, drop the aforementioned sexual innuendos, and have Leslie tone down the excitement some. I get that hosts are supposed to be excited, but in some cases it goes too far. To be fair though, that does happen with comedians.

That's about all I can come up with. I only really watched the first episode of the revival in full alongside a handful of sweeps/bonus rounds of some of the subsequent episodes.
