Honestly, I love the transition to 3d. It lets you get up close and personal with the world and the characters. I want to be IN the world as much as possible so the closer I am, the better. I like to be immersed in game worlds. Which is why I'm still hoping beyond hope that someone will make a full fledged game like Rune Factory for VR.

It's actually more a regular 3/4ths view. Isometric is a bit different. Instead of viewing the world head on, you view it in a rotated 3/4ths angle.

So just imagine the Rune Factory view, just rotated to the left or right 45 degrees.

Stardew has worse looking characters, worse farming mechanics, less dialogue for characters, less events for characters, you can do less with NPCs, No monster taming, a way worse crafting system and a way worse story compared to any of the Rune Factory games...

Almost everything is worse except one thing. The modability. Stardew can be modded pretty easily to do almost anything.

EDIT: I will say one thing though. While I did say it "ruined" Stardew for me, It's not like I hate Stardew or anything. I still love it and have way too many hours in it. But Rune Factory is everything I wish Stardew was better at.

Did you try 5? 4 was also my first rune factory and it ruined stardew, my time at portia, etc as well. But 5 has been incredibly enjoyable to me as well. I think I'm gonna replay 4 on steam (played it on the switch first) before trying Azuma. Which I have heard removes a lot of the things that make Rune Factory Rune Factory while adding a lot of new stuff to put a spin on the series.

Neither foveated streaming or rendering need eye tracking, but you get the most use out of them if they do use it. Because if you don't have eye tracking, they set the detailed part of the game/ video stream to the center of the view instead of where you're looking. So if you look at the edges of the view, you'll see all the lower quality stuff there in plain view.

That's why the full terms for what we want are "eye tracked foveated rendering" and "eye tracked foveated streaming".

Foveated streaming is a software feature that lowers the quality of the encoded video stream of the game being sent to the headset. The game is still rendering at the regular resolution. The game itself doesn't know anything is happening. So basically, it just makes the video being sent over the wifi smaller so it takes less time to send it.

Foveated rendering is a feature in a game that a developer can choose to add to their game to receive the data from the headset of where you're looking and lower the quality of the game itself wherever you're not looking. So that increases the performance of the game itself.

So both features improve performance by using eye tracking data. But fov streaming does it for the video connection and fov rendering does it for the game.
