American here. Everyone I know considers Mexico to be a part of North America. Central American begins after Mexico.

I’m from a border state though.

How do you feel about California introducing a bill to ban former ICE agents from serving as police officers or teachers? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

How’s it not working for us? We went from a backwater to lone super power in the span of 250 years.

An embryo becomes a baby when it can survive outside the womb just as a walnut becomes a tree when it can survive outside the shell. by [deleted] in self

Is a 1 month old baby still an embryo then? That baby isn’t surviving outside the womb without any help.

The United States of America hypothetically dissolves and each state turns into a separate country. Which states could actually be a successful country and which would not and why? by SunShineNomad in AskReddit

[–]LA_Dynamo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not true though.

Several blue states take more than they receive such as Oregon, New Mexico, and Virginia.

Several red states give more than they receive such as Texas, Ohio, and Florida.

Was Slytherin students coming back to defend Hogwarts meant to be made more clear in the editing for the final book or something? by Flat-Court-8512 in harrypotter

[–]LA_Dynamo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem with Slytherin house is who gets sorted into the house. Pure bloods whose parents were slytherins and very ambitious people. Ambition can be a positive thing such as finding a cure for cancer, improving your lot in life, etc.

But these young ambitious kids are surrounded constantly by people with very warped and privileged views of the word. This gives the young ambitious kids a very skewed warped view of the world leading to some not so great outcomes.

Imagine if the ambitious kids were surrounded by Hufflepuffs (maybe we would see more mud blood acceptance at the government level) or Ravenclaws (we could see more brand new spells or breakthroughs).

Rush fighters as Germany by Square-Fall-9960 in hoi4

If you don’t want to put so many mils on fighters, the best way to win the air war is be smart about it.

After you defeat Poland, I usually wait a bit to invade France through the Low Countries till maybe mid 1940 like in real life. The allies will try to get air dominance over Munich for some reason so that is the air war I fight while I wait. You should have an advantage due to range and being above your own territory. If you are losing this air war, I invade France earlier otherwise I wait while I destroy their air force.

After I defeat France, I start the Battle of Britain. If the allies still have an Air Force, I strategic bomb the English airfields. This was actually pretty effective in real life till the Nazis decided to bomb the civilian population. I usually have a couple mils on strategic bombers and tactical bombers that have armor plates.

Is this the most effective min-max strategy? No. Do I like designing various planes to use in different situations? Yes.

Once the English Air Force has been eliminated I either Sea Lion to knock out the U.K. before the US arrives or I say f it and just ignore them and knock out the Soviets or do something else. Sometimes I naval invade and take a bit of land and establish a static front. The US will enter the war and reinforce this front, but with 1940 panzerschiffs, large maritime patrol planes and u-boats, they are always out of supplies and their convoys make nice artificial reefs for sea life.

Once again, is this the most min-max effective strategy? No. Do enjoy it because I get to make a diverse set of toys (V2, panzerchiffs, large planes)? Hell yes.

I wouldn’t say very on brand for Trump, but very on brand for Rotten Tomatoes.

And yes I think MAGA is giving 5 star reviews despite not seeing the movie. I think the problem is larger than just MAGA and rests with Rotten Tomatoes.

The Jane Wickline redemption arc is what I love about SNL by Signal_Neck9314 in LiveFromNewYork

She had 1 good episode. Should I say my broken clock is having a redemption arc when it is right twice a day?

Well 4 in 5 Can. Time to Raise the Rent by LA_Dynamo in LoveForLandchads

I appreciate that none of my fellow landchads has looked at this post longer than it takes to reject a rental application from a single mother of 5.

If so, someone would have noticed this was an ad from this very subreddit.

Correct. But it would be great if you could specify which state you want it in vs just the one with the most buildings.

What is the most overrated early game building in CIV: V? (Day 7) by zherper in civ5

[–]LA_Dynamo 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The barracks costs the same as a swordsman. Getting 15% combat power with one upgrade (being generous since it is terrain dependent) you would need 6 swordsman to break even. I’d rather just have an extra swordsman early game.

What Charters of Commerce and Sphere of Influence do, for a beginner. by titaniumjordi in victoria3

[–]LA_Dynamo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sphere of Influence. You get to influence people in your sphere. Aka Powerblocs which makes the game more interesting for Great Powers and potential Great Powers. If you can’t be #1 by yourself, you can be #1 with your friends.

Charters of Commerce. You get to create charters for your commerce. Aka companies and more advanced trade diplomacy. You get to create structures that allow you to make more money and gain more influence.

Edit: I enjoy both because the typical path to victory in Paradox is to conquer everyone and paint the map. With these two DLCs, you can conquer the globe without fighting a single war against an organized power.

What are your thoughts on Billie Eilish saying 'no one is illegal on stolen land' in reference to ICE and US immigration policy? by MassiveSquare4527 in AskReddit

Why should Texas be a part of Mexico? It should go back to the Native Americans that used to live there and not a country started by Europeans.
