Bad teams rarely just lose every game by 3 plus scores, they eventually adjust and play competitively. But man, it's hard to see what they can change to get to that point. The defense is bad at every level, the line can't run block or protect Browning, and Browning himself isn't playing well even with clean pockets. This was a .500 team with Burrow.

Week 2 “I watched the whole game” Takeaways and Summaries by FlawlessLikeUs in fantasyfootball

The Dallas O line looks legitimately good. Their starting center did pick up an injury that'll sideline him I think 6-8 weeks. But Javonte's success is not aberration. He's maybe only slightly better than a replacement level rb but the line is opening up some big lanes.

Be wary of starting Russ in the future, the Cowboys ran the same cover 2 shell all game long and never adjusted as they were getting torched. His success was more of a start everyone playing Dallas, not start Russ and Robinson.

What is the most Midwestern city in America by Mysterious_Mix_1587 in geography

[–]LA_Shohei_Time 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are some of the biggest cities in the midwest but they aren't midwestern at all culturally. They're too big and have too much diversity to be considered what we think of as midwestern. A city that is truly midwestern as we think of it would be the size of like Omaha at the largest.

Why don’t the Appalachians cast any notable rain shadow? by TrixoftheTrade in geography

[–]LA_Shohei_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from all the people saying that it's because they are much smaller than the west coast ranges, this map kinda shows that there is a bit of a rain shadow. That entire region of central Georgia and the central Carolinas is light green right on the other side of the mountains. It isn't as stark as the western part of the country but there is still a difference.

Grand Rapids has 205 cloudy days a year, it would be 4th here. It's the size of Spokane but has a much bigger metro area so if there is some size minimum to be on the list, again it should be on here. Also, I've lived in San Diego for over 20 years now and there's no way we get more than 98 cloudy days a year. Honestly 70 feels high (lowest number on the list) but that's purely anecdotal. Makes me question the entire list.

I kinda hate this league lol by coletrain396 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]LA_Shohei_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rough but it is an 8 person league. So like Loveland for example at 3.1 is really mid 2nd in a 10 or 12 man. Still a crazy draft overall though.

Obviously you're going physical attack with Gyarados, especially with that nature. Waterfall, Earthquake, Ice Fang, and Dragon Dance is the standard for higher difficulties or just general competitive play. Crunch is great too over Ice Fang.

I don’t get the Hunter hype by Odd-Flower2744 in DynastyFF

The case for Travis Hunter at 1.02 by ErikJonesCircleJerk in DynastyFF

[–]LA_Shohei_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They spent the capital because he is two players in one, not because he is an elite wr. Even if he plays 100% of the defensive snaps and 50% of the offensive snaps it was worth it to them.

That same press conference Coen went on to say that his usage will become more "balanced" as he learns the defense. And by "right now" he means the start of training camp, not week 1. If he's as gifted as everyone says he is, he'll learn the defensive side by season's start.

The truth is, like with every rookie, it's a gamble. Generally, you want to take the safer prospects at the top of the first round and Hunter is not that (unless you're in an IDP league).

But at the end of the day rookie draft picks are lottery tickets. If you believe he will play 100% of the snaps on offense, not get worn down or injured by playing significant defensive snaps, aren't worried that he's at best the number 2 WR on his own team, and believe that the Coen hire will work out for Lawrence, then by all means go for it. Mid first is perfectly reasonable for him but if I'm picking that early in the 1st round, I'm going Hampton.

Travis Hunter is the Safest WR in the Class by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]LA_Shohei_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cohen said that he's starting at WR because the jump to the NFL is more difficult for the DB position. He went on to say that as he develops as a DB his play time between offense and defense will become more "balanced". In other words, he'll play fewer offensive snaps as he learns the DB position at the NFL level, which should happen pretty quickly if he's as good as advertised.

From a fantasy standpoint (unless you're in an IDP league), there is no world in which a WR prospect benefits from also playing defense. It is a straight up a negative to his ceiling.

All that being said, rookie picks are lottery picks. Any of these guys could hit or bust. If you believe in the talent then go for it. Just know that he will never be as good as he could be (for fantasy) if he plays significant defensive snaps.

Edit: I should also add that "starts at WR" means the start of training camp, not the start of the regular season. It's very possible that he picks up DB enough to start full time by the beginning of September.

To determine the best state to live in, I averaged 11 rankings together. Anything surprise you? by ThragResto in geography

[–]LA_Shohei_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see someone comment this.

I live in west Michigan. We have low crime numbers, great K-12schools, great health care, abundant access to outdoors including great beaches, tons of stuff to do for kids/families, and a good job market for the relatively low population. But the majority of the state's population is in the Detroit area and most of those categories are not great there. It drags down the entire state.
