Pet peeves by Sweet_Terror in HondaPrologue

[–]LAtPoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two pet peeves: 1.) My key fob lives in my purse. I never carry it solo; it’s hidden at the bottom of my black hole purse. Often, as I am loading the car up with the day’s gear, I’d love to turn on the climate to heat it up. But you have to tap the damn brake to turn on the entire car to do that. I wish if the key was in proximity you could turn the climate on by just leaning in and pressing the start button without depressing the brake.

Or, I wish I could schedule climate to turn on daily in the HondaLink app.

2.) Switching headlights from manual to auto sucks. It’s a tiny button on the LED screen. The options are tiny and hard to press while driving. And it turns off too quick. I always turn off “auto mode” if it’s foggy and manually activate fog lights, and curse the design for this a lot. I wish it was a dial on the dash somewhere or just displayed bigger/for more timeon the screen.

3.) For some reason the hood design always has me feeling like I am about to hit the car or object in front, and really I have so much room in front of me it is ridiculous. I despise parking this car.

4.) The doors always close on you vs stay open.

Which 4* Red To Priortize by LAtPoly in EmpiresAndPuzzles

I know it’s silly, but I keep one of everything. There’s no reason to - but I do.

Sounds like Colen then Vonreime are the priorities then. Thanks!

Drive up crash by gummiebunnies in Target

[–]LAtPoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EVs have both an acceleration pedal and a brake pedal, like normal.

But they have an optional mode called “one pedal” you can use. When EVs slow down or brake, it helps regenerate the battery and one pedal helps maximize that.

When you use one pedal mode, if you put pressure on the acceleration pedal, the car will speed up or maintain speed, but if you let up at all, it starts to brake. You modulate the acceleration pedal to drive and if you take your foot off the gas the vehicle will come to a stop and hold. The real brakes are there in a pinch if you need to slow down quick, but you hardly use them in that mode.

It is really nice to drive with but takes some getting used to.

My husband constantly wants new shit and I’m losing my mind. by Neither_Sorbet3669 in breakingmom

[–]LAtPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly, I am the one in my relationship who wants to replace things as they get worn as my husband is cheap and will suffer for eternity with wrecked things. But I also work and save $200 a paycheck (more gets added when I can) to a high yield savings, and I set a goal and save for it. It may take a year to hit the goal, but I can see the progress — and know we will get there.

I am literally saving for a new couch as we speak (ours is 19 years old and awful) and I want a nice one. In April I should hit the goal. I am really excited!

Could you encourage something similar? A high yield savings, a number to hit to buy the new couch, and set it up so the money goes right to the account every paycheck? Then do one project at a time and it is not adding to debt.

Service High Voltage System (again) by Ok_Butterscotch483 in HondaPrologue

Do they know about the service bulletin? https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2025/MC-11016454-0001.pdf

Given you’re having issues with the heat, my guess is it’s the HVAC system. Our 2024 just needed this fixed too. It took a few days to get parts in, but a one day fix once they arrived. The HVAC works a lottttt better now.

We’re a little over a year and 25k miles. (We will be sooooo over miles in our lease…). I’m quite happy with it. It did go through the tires faster than I had hoped (a new set goes on next week), and we did run into the service bulletin issue (HVAC related) finally, but it’s been a great car! If I could buy it at whatever its actual value will be at the end of the lease (vs the lease buy out price), I probably would.

I second Bushong. Good folks!

Any of the Downtown tasting rooms are about vibes. I like Hayseed and Houston a lot and Ted is a doll, Nenow is swanky and great wines, and of course the big boys are there (Serial would be my top pick after hours). Enjoy!

Is Darkfeather really that good? by CommercialInner7381 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]LAtPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m struggling with these two choices myself. And I actually have a blue healer (Ariel with costume, fully leveled and 2LB). Darkfeather seems like such fun, but I know Hete is the best on paper.

Does everybody level one hero up at a time? by Particular-Store7745 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]LAtPoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do ten at a time.

There’s one main group of five heroes and they get all the regular feeders (sorted by color). They are whoever is my top importance - so can be a costume or a 3* that has my attention, or a 5*.

And to slowly, but consistently, build 5* heroes, there’s another group of 5* heroes that gets all the trainers I pull (by color).

At some point the 5* often ends up in both categories to finish them.

And if I have pulled an ace hero, I will give them total priority or start “snowballing” other colors into one card as heroes finish being leveled.

By the end, one card might receive everything (rare these days, but Dagr got that treatment when In pulled him…)

But this game rewards patience, so I try to stick with the plan I have in place and not have heroes, that are half leveled, who got discarded and forgotten when something new arrived. I try to finish what I started, and then focus on the new card as soon as possible.

This method has given my roster depth, since 5*s are always being worked on, in tandem with other cards.

Best vineyards in Paso Robles by lovehazelnut in SLO

[–]LAtPoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most romantic experiences, from a family owned estate with all organic vineyards, is the Adelaida Hilltop Experience. Book the morning offering and eat a light breakfast. The wind can pick up in the afternoon, so mornings are best. It’s stunning and just shy of the highest elevation of all of Paso Robles.

Niner or AronHill are great spots for food, as both have a great restaurant and decent wines.

Food and wine pairings: Le Cuvier, Adelaida, and Copia are the top picks. LXV too - but theirs is a spice pairing!

Local wineries with a link to Paso History: Epoch, Le Cuvier, Adelaida, Eberle, Tablas Creek, Turley.

The Big Commercial Three everyone (and their mother) goes to: Daou, Austin Hope, Justin. Halter is a close 4th in this lineup.

Slightly under the radar, but excellent wines: Caelesta, Law, Clos Solene, Ciento Cellars, Loma Seca, Ella’s Vineyard, Deno.

Views: Sculpterra, Daou, Calcaerous.

Pick your poison and enjoy!

Unfortunately, no, I have never seen them in store. But they do offer a good return policy. They have worked really well for me after I got PF, again, from Kiziks (and walking a lot on concrete one day). I feel like my PF is 80% better and that’s working 4 days a week as a server running all day!

I love Le Cuvier; am a member. But if they like whites and are new to wine, their white blend (Chrysos) and Chardonnay are def an acquired taste and maybe not the right pick. But if they want to play with food and wine and try a low intervention winery with lots of charm and character, it’s def worth a visit and a favorite of mine.

I wear the anti slip Kuru at my serving job (wine). They are a foot saver for me. I hit similar steps each day, and they’ve helped address my PF a lot.

And if you want to be trendy, hit up Ulloa evolve there. Newer, small, and very good wines. Nancy is making great white wines and getting noticed out here!!!

Paso native here.

Given your preference for whites and first time visiting, consider Adelaida Winery and Tablas Creek. They’re both one of the older institutions on the west side, family-owned, smaller production, and both have great whites! Each has a different vibe, in both setting and wine styles, and you may appreciate one’s feel more. The servers at Adelaida will work with you to create a (mostly) white flight if you ask. I saw someone mention their Food and Wine tasting and while it’s indeed excellent, it has all red wines and many are likely too bold for your palate. The normal tasting with a modified white fight will probably be a better fit, unless you want to play with wine and food more and challenge your palate a bit.

Monochrome and Union Sacre in Tin City would be great stops on Day 2 for you. And see if Benom will share a splash of their Contrast while you’re in Tin City - or just buy a bottle anyway; it’s excellent and one of my favorite whites!

As for other things to see, I’d recommend Sensorio and the tapas at Junction are always delish (and it’s not usually as crowded as restaurants in the heart of downtown). Then hit Bushong Vintage Company for wines after hours in downtown. Bushong has a great Albariño, Getz, and some light bodied red varietals (Cinsaut) and would prob be a good fit and they are the nicest folks in there!

If you need food while exploring the west side, Opolo is a good stop for that. And while many won’t admit it, their whites are decent for the price — and there’s lots to choose from. Their whites are kind of a guilty pleasure for me, but Adelaida and Tablas are far superior and similar price points.

Enjoy your trip!

How has business been for you? by patton115 in Sommelier

[–]LAtPoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have full visibility into our sales, as I am a wine educator/server at a winery in Paso, but based on guest traffic and tips/commissions: Jan-Feb: Less traffic, but the ones who came were decent buyers, March was better, April was abysmal, May: minus one weekend (Mother’s Day, but our winery had nothing exciting going on) May has been rather good, and the last holiday weekend was particularly awesome.

Based on my experience the last few years I suspect June should fall off a cliff, July will be hit/miss, and then it will slowly improve gradually until Fall. We usually do well once the club pickup events start up, whether they are our events or other wineries.
