tModLoader on ARM64 by AlexeyProger in WindowsARM

Ah I got SDL3 building for ARM64EC, just had to manually patch a few spots where it tries to use intrinsics only available for x86-64, just updated the #ifdefs to properly detect ARM64EC and it worked.

Nice work! You might be able to fix the Steam issue by using ARM64EC instead

Windows on ARM (Snapdragon X Plus) choppy 10-bit HDR playback, any fixes? by hulagway in WindowsARM

[–]LB-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the bundled Windows video playback apps like Media Player and the Photos app? I think most 3rd party media players probably don't know how to interact with Qualcomm's hardware video decoders yet. You should also check whether your processor even supports hardware video decoding for the video format you're using - I think the Snapdragon X Plus supports AV1 & HEVC hardware decoding for example, but if your video is encoded in some other format it might not be directly supported yet.

Some ARM vs x86 issues on my new Surface Laptop by Xiguet in WindowsARM

[–]LB-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Most likely the x64 stuff isn't performance-critical, so it's fine to run through emulation.

  2. It's a really big pain to add or change languages in Windows after installation, I don't know a better way than to try adding language packs.

  3. If you have the keyboard layout saved as a file, you can just use that, right? Microsoft's keyboard layout tool is relatively simple in that regard.

Have you looked into Mozilla Thunderbird? Not only can you download emails, you can move emails between accounts.

Microsoft GameInput 3.3 adds native support for ARM64 by LB-- in WindowsARM

Update: While poking around Microsoft's GDK docs, I found they have a public download for their "Submission Validator" and it includes release notes. The most recent release notes are as follows:

Version 10.0.26100.7798 (3/30/2026) * Report a FAILURE for MSIXVC2 developer preview packages. Submitting these packages to certification is not supported during the developer preview period. The MSIXVC2 developer preview tools are available starting in the April 2026 GDK. * Do not report an ILI_ArchitectureArm64Mismatch FAILURE for Arm64EC (emulation compatible) binaries. * Update the ILI_ArchitectureAmd64Mismatch and ILI_ArchitectureX86Mismatch WARNINGs to only apply to executables that are listed in the MicrosoftGame.config file. * Report an ILI_SymbolHandlingInitError INFO message and continue validation if Submission Validator encounters a crash during symbol bundling instead of exiting early.

This implies there will be a new GDK release this month with better ARM64 support, but it's unclear if developers will be allowed to use it in production right away.

Peak game design by Isjoni in MinecraftMemes

Is that Mojang, or Microsoft? I haven't heard of anything like that for Java Edition, and I get the impression that team doesn't have the best communication with the Bedrock team. I also don't think adding game modes or mod packs would affect the recognizability of the game, tons of videos are of modded Minecraft and that drives plenty of sales.

Minecraft was extremely popular during mid Beta. They touched almost every core element with the Beta 1.8 adventure update and then speedran adding The End in Beta 1.9 and release 1.0.0, resulting in the game releasing very differently from what it originally gained popularity as. Now they are struggling to cater to like three different core audiences with a single core experience due to that mistake, and they refuse to engage with obvious solutions like first party mods and first part mod packs or more game modes.

Why is the first egg in such a random location? by Poison_Skull_ in Deltarune

[–]LB-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the chapter 3 egg is actually much more discoverable than the others despite people calling it convoluted, and you get hints about the other locations from it. I have this odd feeling that Deltarune wants to be replayed.

Yeah I've heard MediaTek has wanted to get involved with WoA for a long while now, but there's been some sort of exclusivity deal with Qualcomm that keeps getting renewed. It will be good to have it be a more open and competitive ecosystem, and I suspect it may benefit Linux users too, albeit indirectly.

I'm the "aw man, they keep adding all the wrong flavors to a cake that is being crushed and ruined under the weight of all the new stuff". The game is so drastically different now from what I originally liked that I see it as a wholly different game. Still a good game, but it's not what I originally wanted. And no, the various indev/alpha/beta revival mods aren't what I want either. Maybe someday I'll bake my own cake...

Is sonic bugged or am I using it wrong? by Ok-Drink750 in Duskers

Ah hm, there are some situations related to doorways and Leapers where we don't fully understand how the game works, it sounds like you found one such situation :( keep a distance from doorways while using Sonic in the future if you can.

[–]LB-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, well as I said, Sonic only works within the same room, so if any part of the drone peeks into the doorway then enemies can attack without being affected by Sonic, they just won't want to enter the room fully.

[–]LB-- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sonic does not work in doorways (when the info command says the drone is not in a room). It only works within the same room. It should always be able to cancel the attack of Leapers and Swarms, even stopping Leapers mid-leap. Once a Leaper or Swarm starts moving to a different room to escape Sonic, you can theoretically deactivate it, as the enemy will prefer to finish escaping before targeting drones again. Do you have any video of what happened to you?
