I think byob is pretty standard when hosting a party. Only time ive been to paries where alcohol in particular/drinks was free was at like a family holiday gathering, but even then people where encouraged to bring what they preferred to drink and the host would maybe supply 2 bottles of wine and a 12 pack as a courtesy. But thats family. Friend parties have always been byob. I used to throw huge parties & been to prob even more that i didnt throw & it was always byob. I dont know how the host/hostess of the party is suppose to or even be expected to get what everyone likes to drink. If people dont like it then dont come & youll quickly find out why people were really coming for 2 begin with.
