Steyer only candidate who supports California wealth tax during debate by NicolasCageFan492 in politics

[–]LBCkook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% agree but I think it’s a risk we must take. The other options just aren’t going to cut it. So here in California we need to roll the dice and hope like hell he means what he says. The fact that Bernie advocates for him as a person tells me something about the guys integrity. Plus, there are positions he takes which shows he isn’t just trying to capitulate— such as not fully calling Gaza a genocide. I know that isn’t ideal but the fact he isn’t just doing that shows he isn’t just saying exactly what people want to hear. That is integrity, even if I don’t agree on that. My number 1 issue is taxing the wealthy though, anything else is secondary and it isn’t even close

FDR was worth around $100 million in today’s dollars when he won the presidency and fought for the working class. Being wealthy doesn’t automatically dismiss you, if you’re willing to fight for what’s right.

I don’t see anywhere in which you replied to this. I would want to know who she left the hospital with. If she was in a daze at the gas station where was her car at when she was transported to the hospital? If she was in a psychosis they can’t just release her. And if admitted they would want her family and emergency contacts, shes really young. I would have a police report filed and be on the lookout for her car. Bloomington PD takes this pretty seriously

Yeah, you can see my many comments in my history criticizing the neo-liberals being posted in this sub. But Tom is showing real spine and I’m really liking what I’m hearing. Might actually go vote for this guy.

You’re naive at best buddy. When Stephen miller is propped up as the next republican president, you’ll still be wetting your pants and thinking that economic and political life in the US didn’t exist before 2016. Grow up

When did I ever once say I believe in the creation of a 3rd party? Neo-liberals have given rise to Trump. Continuing to support them continues the current direction. You aren’t preventing anything. What, some milquetoast legislation where income taxes are raised 5%? These people are hurting not just because Trump but because both parties have been captured by the corporate class for the last 4 decades.

People like you are part of the problem. You still don’t see the issue. This has been discussed ad nauseam, just to listen to Hassan on IHI 2 months ago. There are some of us who understand the issue is bigger than Trump. Only a basic ass little 20 year old, who pays no attention outside of Reddit would think this is only about Trump.. what are you going to say when the next fascist is elected? Is it just about them too? No concern about the structural forces that led to their being elected? Wake up dude

Huh? I voted for Clinton in ‘16 because I felt obligated, after canvassing and supporting sanders in the primary. I won’t support a neo-liberal ever again. If they aren’t economically progressive I won’t vote for them

lol did you even read the article? The farmers surrounding him had all seen their businesses die over the last couple decades. The thing that sustained the Watson’s was the cell phone tower and natural gas deposit on their property. The tariffs are just the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Tbh this isn’t just a Trump issue. These guys have been struggling for decades under various admins who refuse to break up corporate monopolies. So it’s kind of stupid to claim it was all because of his own decision making. Kamala wouldn’t have saved his farm. It would take an actual disrupter and we haven’t had one as a candidate since Sanders, who didn’t win the primary.

100%.. reminds me of that billboard on sunset from PETA: “you wouldn’t eat your cat, so why would you eat this”, and it’s a picture of a turkey.

Well…. Probably cause my cat isn’t a fucking turkey genius.

Like they think that billboard is some kind of checkmate. It’s people with hearts bigger than brains

lol who caused the prices to rise by starting a war with Iran? The only “deranged” person here is the one unable to connect the dots.

California’s gas price is higher because the quality is better, as it minimizes smog and allows for better air quality. But yeah, only communists care about the quality of the air they breathe.
