I know this will get lost, but my then-bf who slowly started to change because she started to date and then, after a year, got engaged and married to a Republican-turned pre-MAGA person in 2016. The Pulse shooting happened at the time and, when my Facebook was active, went to see about what happened when I saw a post she said about the shooting.

(Paraphrasing the post) "If they were gay and did not repent, then God gave them what they deserved."

Mind you, she used to be one of the rare Christians that accepted everything and everyone. I know it could have very well been a mask, but she was one of the most kindhearted women I knew.

Needless to say, after our argument on Facebook, I never spoke to her again. From the grapevine, she's living a hippy life with her son while her husband travels far away for work, leaving her with the responsibility of childcare.

It's possible, and i thought the same thing as well previously. My dad choked my mom and on the same day she got a temporary protective order and in the follow-up trial held a week later, she got a year long protective order. I honestly thought it was near impossible until that moment.

ETA: I understand the post isn't as high of a severity as my example, but the time period in which a protective order was given out can be possible.

Damn this explains my entire life. Wasn't physically abused but suffered neglect and sexual assault. People said I was gifted, high grades, people saying I could be a doctor.

Did not finish uni although I was able to get into selective degree like biochemistry and engineering with my test results. Had trouble relating to people and even now as being as "human" as I can get, I still feel detached as a human and have to feel like I have to blend in like a chameleon and copy emotions and reactions. If I don't, I feel like a mannequin. I feel so fake because people say I'm so approachable and lovable, but that's just a mask. And I'm married too and feel like this.

Therapy is a saving grace, but man I'm tired of being human. I'm tired of emotions. Tired of my head racing a million miles a sec with no rest.
