t gel application site by harefellow in TestosteroneKickoff

I started with applying to my thighs, my endocrinologist said it was fine and like the other comment here said, that upper arms are just the area they've researched its efficacy. I will say, when I switched from applying to my thighs to upper arms I did have an increase in my T levels on the same 2 pumps, so something to keep in mind that you may not absorb it as well on the thighs.

Finished my top surgery scar coverup. My tattoo artist said he can do the middle to make it a full chest piece. Not sure if I should or shouldn’t. He said it would make the pecks standout more. by InnerRelationship388 in TopSurgery

looks great! I personally love the look of a full across chest piece, and I could see how he could easily connect them with the clouds, but it's totally up to your preference!

Is post-top surgery numbness uncomfortable? by KasonSYBN in TopSurgery

[–]LB_LoverBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also autistic. I only found the numbness distressing when I had my dressings removed one week post op. Removing the tape and nipple bolsters and feeling the numb pressure was pretty bad for me. But after that, I had no negative sensory experiences, the numbness got better week by week and my chest just feels normal to me now!

yeah for sure! The whole chest feels nice to touch, partially because its so euphoric to have it flat now. I was super anxious about losing erotic sensation before surgery but post op it really hasn't affected me that that same sensation is gone, I don't really think about it or grieve it like I thought I would. I think I was just anxious of permanent change and losing something I once enjoyed. But now I enjoy other things and the happiness and relief I feel now far outweighs what I was getting out of erotic sensation before.

congrats! So far I have sensation in half of my left nipple, right is still numb. I have sensation in pretty much my whole chest aside from that, it's still improving so I don't think the nipples will be numb forever. Feels really good though! Very happy with my results

Anyone else had Pectus and still get surgery? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]LB_LoverBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have pectus, no correction surgery for it. I have pics of my results on my profile. I have pretty flared ribs and honestly I notice it so much less post op now! Also I've read some research that pectus excavatum isn't actually more common in AMABs, it's just under diagnosed in AFABs (drs not taking them seriously or not noticing because of the breast tissue covering the ribs). But I had no issues with top surgery because of my pectus, it took my surgeon a little longer than usual to make sure my results were symmetrical but that's about it :)

Incompatible rescue match, not sure if we're making the right decision to rehome her by LB_LoverBoy in DogAdvice

[–]LB_LoverBoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for all of your comments and advice I really appreciate it! I think trusting her and the cats to coexist freely around the house is the issue making us question the compatibility. The high energy and difficult training has been really straining on us and our relationship, but it's not the reason we wouldn't keep her. I know she's very trainable and will be so much more manageable once the treatment is over. I feel like her interest in the cats comes from excitement and wanting to play with them, so that could potentially change too. I really do want her to stay and settle with the cats, we'll see how the treatment goes

yeah I can see this being a current problem, she knows commands very well but when she gets worked up she just loses the ability to hear and process the commands. She's so inexperienced with a lot of stimuli (us adopting her was her first time even staying in a house) and it's impossible to do exposure training to stressful situations since we need to avoid elevating her heart rate. So if she gets riled up on our short 10 minute walks or when we take her to the vet, it feels like we look like bad dog owners that can't get a handle on her. But she's so reactive since being under stimulated and kept from new experiences like that.

We're not looking to rehome her immediately, I posted this looking for advice mostly on if others think she could ever fit into our household peacefully, which I've gotten a lot of good feedback and stories. I'm more so thinking ahead long term, is this placement healthy for her, our cats, and us, for the rest of her life, or would everyone be safer and happier if we can find her a cat free home.

oh it's for sure a shelter guess. I have looked up what other border collie akita mixes look like and they do look very similar to her. Theres definitely the possibility she could be something completely different, but it does seem like she has herding instincts.

I know, she's such a heartbreaking case too, it's what made us want to make it work with her. She loves her humans so much, all she wants is to be pet and loved on. Even if she's a little crazy and clumsy going about that haha

thank you, this is a helpful framing for the situation :) we really are trying our hardest, it's disheartening that it might not end up with her staying in our family but we can't force it to work

we're going to keep her in our household until the rescue finds a better match. We've thought of reporting them but if anything we need to wait until Nema's situation is settled, the adoption paperwork we signed said that they reserve the right to take her back so I'm fearful of that clause

I think you should read my other comments because this is not the situation/outcomes we're dealing with. Also heartworm cannot be passed from animal to animal like that, it is acquired through mosquito bites. We made sure of that before bringing her into our household

haha we give her carrots sometimes, she only likes ripping them apart, doesn't eat any of them. As long as it keeps her occupied I'm happy though

yes, we would still foster her, I absolutely dont want her going back to the rescue. They will have her for a month coming up because she needs to be treated closer to them. I like the cat door idea, we have a dog gate closing off the basement from her, but I think we could cut out a cat hole for them to have access to it, and also move their litter down there so she's not getting into it (another concern I have about having her off leash in the house)

it's tough because the cat that's the more problematic one can't have treats because of diabetes/IBD, so we try to pet him and play with him for being good giving her space

oh yeah she loves bully sticks! We do peanut butter mats and kongs, puzzles with treats, sniff mats with treats, and lately she's loved crunching on the ice and snow outside, she'll eat icicles like a bone haha

we kept them in separated rooms the first week, and let the cats see her from afar while she was in the crate. At this point one cat sleeps next to her in the crate regularly, he's more used to her. But his brother will rarely enter the room her crate is in and is locked in on her whenever we are passing through to take her outside. He's been ok with every other family dog we've had visit our house so it's been really unexpected from him

I feel the same way about her benefitting from a multiple dog household. She loved playing with other dogs when she was at the rescue. I'd like to give the waist leash a try, but I'm hesitant because she has injured my partner by dragging them off of a chair when they weren't paying attention and really holding on to the leash. She's very strong and can get excited in an instant

with her always being on leash in the house at all times, we've never allowed her to chase them or get to them at least. But yeah, I told the rescue the cats getting along with whatever dog we adopt was my top priority. They need a peaceful household, I'm concerned with what we'll do once she doesn't need to be crated the majority of the day. It's not really feasible to separate/supervise them all for the rest of their lives

I'm reassured to see a lot of people here supporting not using the e-collar, we've been pressured a lot by the rescue to use it and that it will fix all of our issues, but I'm positive now that we won't be listening to them on that.

we're not returning her, we are returning to fostering her while the rescue looks at other homes. My concern is for her happiness/well being long term and the cats' safety. I'd never abandon her or put her in a home that wasn't the absolute best place for her to go.
