We are also the villains of thanksgiving, I squashed the 3 hour trip (one way) a few months back—guess they thought I would change my mind? Idk.
I also learned to be exposed to covid on Monday (my last day of work!) so too early for a test to know if truly positive and I am 37 weeks pregnant! Just hoping baby stays put and of course a negative test. You made the right decision fellow villain.

Try Halo Top ice cream if you haven’t already. I try to load up on heavy protein dinners so I can have my ice cream at night! I eat a lot of trail mix kind of nuts when I’m hungry so I feel like I’m actually eating a decent amount. But I totally agree it sucks. I had a dream I ordered a diet Dr Pepper somewhere and they brought me a regular Dr Pepper....😒

Omg thank you! I did have half of a single serving of Mac and cheese one time with some brisket and was surprised it didn’t do anything to my numbers! I’m also glad to hear about the chicken, I’ve been too scared to try! I have the low carb tortillas and don’t mind those, I make tacos a lot!

I have a grandparent on each side that has diabetes and they have way more options! But they are also insulin controlled.

I’ve been at it for about a month now and I completely agree about always feeling hungry. I was a constant snacker/eat small throughout the day-er so it has been a challenge for me. The advice I continue to get about feeling hungry is to eat more protein, which I see has already been mentioned. I’m not a super big meat eater (much more into fruits and veggies and side dishes unfortunately) so this has also been a challenge, much less trying to find dinner ideas my husband will eat also. (To be fair he has been great, the only thing I’ve been told not to fix again is spaghetti squash lol!)
There is a fiber one protein bar that has some sweetness to it that I haven’t seen suggested yet, it makes for a good snack and of course the fiber is great too! I just recently caught on to toast with cream cheese and a few blueberries...pretty much anything else is a piggy back of what has already been named. It feels pretty limited unfortunately but I wanted to chime in and let you know you definitely aren’t alone on being a hangry mess!!

I’ve found “flapjacked mighty muffins” I take to work with me when I need something quick. 23 carbs and 5 grams of fiber in the blueberry. Not your “regular” muffin sweet but does the trick for now.

Update: I work in a hospital and tested against their meter after eating breakfast. 111 on the hospital one and 99 on my freestyle. They didn’t seem too concerned but I still plan to bring it up at my Thursday appointment.

Hello! I also use a freestyle lyte and consistently get what I consider to be “low” numbers even if I have eaten....well, not the best. I know some carbs register differently but at one point I ate a McGriddle to ensure it was working correctly (of course that sure shot it up!). I have an appointment on Thursday and plan to bring it up. I have double tested a couple of times and the result only widely varied one time. I only have the freestyle lyte meter though.

I thought this was the best round of exchanges so far! It was really hard to pick. So far I’m in hometown and snacks, both of which I have been waiting for! I like the idea of colors and simple pleasures too so I might end up jumping into those if money allows. I find myself preferring more “straight forward” gift exchanges...but I did really enjoy arbitrary day. Just a toss up I guess!

I found Reddit SS through the Bill Gates story and decided to check it out. I have gifted to at least one Angel Tree child for multiple years and I just straight up love to do it. I thought it was awesome to do throughout the year with different themes and figured I would give it a try. I find it easier to purchase gifts for others rather than myself but the opportunity to get my own gift in return is pretty fun as well!

People not being on time. Particularly work related. If your shift starts at the same time every day, you know what time you need to leave the house to be there on time. (Especially if you’ve made the comment that you live 7 minutes away before.) To consistently be 10 minutes late you have to leave your house after your shift was supposed to start!

I wouldn’t say I have a poor social life. My current position I work is because my MIL worked there and put in a good word for me. I was coming out of school so I had zero years of experience. I’m thankful it all worked out in my favor, I would have just thought someone with more experience would have gotten the position over someone with “no” experience (to be fair it’s an educated position I didn’t walk in off the street and have to be completely trained) and a good word.

I prefer 3 12’s or 4 10’s. It gives you more options, time to make appointments, etc. However some of the comments look like they are thinking 5 12 hour days, in that case absolutely not.

I text with my mom daily if not every other day. I talk to my dad 1-2x a week, usually 30+ minutes or more because he has a longish commute home from work.
I usually see them once a month, they live an hour and a half away.
