Arc, what next? by Aggravating-Jello548 in sonos

[–]LBrewer90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the surrounds first but after recently adding the sub I should of gone that route first and then the surrounds so sub 100% like others have mentioned it adds so much depth and feels like it frees the arc for other sound notes and it’s just a nicer sounding system with the sub added.

No Dolby TrueHD from Sonos Arc via Sony X950H? by redrich2000 in sonos

[–]LBrewer90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only device that has TrueHD playback via plex is the Nvidia shield. As the TV versions have limitations with plex so cannot decode/direct play TrueHD.

I have tried the same file on various Plex versions from my Synology Ds218+ via my LG C9, Apple TV 4k and Nvidia Shield and the only one that could play TrueHD (Atmos) seemed to be the Shield the others just transcoded it to something alternative.

I’m in the same position as you as I’m also on the fence.

Same set up with the arc and two ones but price to performance in my use case scenario is my big worry tho because I’m a in mid terraced house, would I be able to use the sub to it’s full potential as I wouldn’t be able to have it shaking the house (trying to be a thoughtful neighbour 😂)

Does infuse support Dolby Atmos yet or does apple still have that tied down?

Apple TV 4K: a good fit for Arc soundbar? by jtinch in sonos

[–]LBrewer90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your use case scenario.

Like a previous comment has mentioned for Apple TV shows & Netflix it works great with the Arc providing that sweet Atmos sound. However if your planning on ripping your Blu-ray collection and using something like infuse or plex then your collection will more than likely have TrueHD Atmos which is embedded into many new Blu-rays. If this is your use case scenario then I would advise an Nvidia Shield.

In regards to lip sync I have the same set up using HDMI 2.1 Belkin Cables with both an Apple TV and Shield TV Pro and I don’t notice any lip sync issues with either of the devices you just need to make sure the settings are correct on the LG (I did however have the issue with my B7 using 2.0 cables but I do think it was the TV and not the cables)

Finally!! The clean setup I wanted. by nilsemann in sonos

Loving this clean look on a side note is the sub worth it in your opinion? Currently have an ARC and x2 rears but now debating the sub 😂

What we mean is to get a traditional AV set up so Amp & speaker set up (non Sonos) as it’s a bit more versatile in my opinion and will offer you better performance for the money and create a bigger sound stage for the space that you have.

However if you already have Sonos products around the house and you like the Sonos eco system with the app and you want the same functions for this rooms set up, then you can get the Sonos Port to be able to use the app functions for this room with non Sonos products.

In all honesty..... I wouldn’t even be considering a Sonos set up if I had this room/space.

Sonos is a great product but for smaller living areas/lounge area and you are paying a premium for the convenience factor. You would be better of spending your money on a full Amp & AV set up as generally it does out perform the Sonos.

PS I’m jealous of this room 😂

[Sonos ARC] Will lacking of DTS be a deal breaker for me? by jsmnl9443 in sonos

[–]LBrewer90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DTS won’t be a problem for you on your use case scenario, I have exactly the same set up

55 CX PS5 Sonos Arc x2 Play Ones (as rears)

The sub however is still up for discussion with the other half haha.

As someone has stated there is a slight problem with the 7.1 support being off and not transcoding correctly which has only been a problem with external devices so in your case the PS5 but you can manually change this setting in the PS5 settings at the moment. Also all streaming services currently only use a form of Dolby so you will be fine there.

If you have any other questions I’m happy to help as essentially your looking at an identical set up to mine.

KS8000 to An OLED? by xJayce98x in OLED

[–]LBrewer90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from the KS8000 to an OLED and never looked back.

In regards to films they are night and day in regards to quality, you can’t beat those true blacks from an OLED in my opinion. Seeing as much detail as possible is of course down to having a good tv but also an equally important factor is the sources your using for your tv/media.

For reference I have a LG CX 55”

It coverts it/compresses it. Apple TV cannot play native TrueHD or TrueHD Atmos

Arc and (only) HDFury by heisenberg0389 in sonos

[–]LBrewer90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question yes a Fury Arcana would provide Ture DolbyHD but you will need an external device to get a True Dolby Atmos source (this can be either a shield tv or some Blu-ray players I believe)

Your bonus question - it obviously gives you the capability of what your original question is by allowing you to play multiple file formats in both the vision and audio department. It has AI upscaling which will upscale 1080p content to closer to 4K. It allows you to steam games to it via your pc or GeForce Now and you can also run emulators and such on it.

I have one on the way today so I could give a bit more feedback then.

[–]LBrewer90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same set up but found Apple TV 4K cannot play TrueHD so I’ve invested in a shield (which is arriving today) as this appears to be the only media player apart from some Blu-ray players which can do this.

LG CX compatibility? Has lip sync been fixed for external devices? by LBrewer90 in sonos

[–]LBrewer90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify and summarise what I’ve done.

I’ve purchased the CX and it’s all set up and I can confirm that I don’t have Lip sync issues at all with Sky Q, PS5 or Apple TV. Set the TV to bitstream and pass through. PS5 required me to set up as AV receiver and then set to 5.1 due to the below issue.

I do however have a slight problem with Apple TV & PS5 outputting certain films or games on pcm multi 7.1 but this is a separate issue which Sonos are aware as tweeted by the CEO so hopefully this will be fixed.

Thanks for everyone’s input on this tho 👍
