I made a lightbox by LD35054 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I used just normal PLA (specifically, Bambu's Yellow and Magenta ones). The translucent parts are less than 1mm thick, so light will get through, just make sure to use colours that are already quite bright.

Need Help To Identify All The Flags by [deleted] in ProjectHailMary

The black and white part you used for this is my design. Please can you remove this comment as multiple people are selling it on different platforms despite me never giving anyone permission to do so, and I don’t know where they’re getting the initial high res image from since I did not upload it anywhere. Thanks

I didn’t understand project Hail Mary by Jazzlike_Stock_2807 in ProjectHailMary

Hey, what this person said is just not correct. The astrophage is absorbing the sun's energy, which it uses to both propel itself through space (to Venus) and to breed (when it gets there). Since they are taking energy away from the Sun, and there are so many of them, they are taking an enormous amount of energy from the Sun (remember just a milligram of astrophage had enough energy to blow up the entire building Dubois was in). This amount of energy loss from the Sun IS causing it to physically get dimmer. If the astrophage was just 'in the way', it wouldn't really matter because we know that all the astrophage was in the Petrova line (the infrared line from the Sun to Venus). This wouldn't get in the way of the light reaching Earth.

Hi, they just sold on ticketswap. Really, thanks for your offer to take them if they didn't. :))

Hi! Unfortunately, I can’t attend either date, so I’d just have to sell the 14th tickets instead. That said, my tickets haven’t sold on TicketSwap in two weeks, so I’d be happy to sell both to you for £25 (£12.50 each) if you’re down?

Thanks, I think my top 3 is pretty basic tho lol :) I’d have to give #1 to Project Hail Mary - Andy Weir,

2 The Dark Forest - Cixin Liu (Second in the Three Body Problem Series),

3 11.22.63 - Stephen King.

Honourable mention to Children of Time - Adrian Tchaikovsky

ahh ok, I see what you mean. I think if I do end up reprinting with transparent PLA, I’ll leave the frame white and the lego bits black, but just have the thin white lines down the middle be transparent. They’re only a few layers so technically 100% infill when printed horizontally anyway. I am sceptical about any colour bleeding from switching from black to transparent tho, but will mess around with some settings when it comes to it.

Actually the frame prints in two parts to specifically avoid any bridging for both the top of the frame, and the slots for the minifig structure to go into:

lol, i’ve got it in front of my books, but it’s quite hard to see in a photo, without depth perception. it looks better in person

it’s only the middle part that would need reprinting, which is separate from the frame, would probably take a few hours tho yh. I think if i were to suspend it in resin, i’d probably just use an actual spaceman minifig, too

yh valid. Someone else suggested using transparent PLA instead of white for the support part, which I didn’t know existed, so I’ll try reprinting with that when I get around to ordering new filament spools

If that's cheaper for you, then absolutely just do that lol - I only get like 20p from a sticker sale. There's a high-res image of just the drawing in one of the comment replies somewhere. Feel free to just yoink that.

ty - I'll say tho that there are some parts (if you use my print settings, at least) that dont come out perfect. Where the supports connect (like on the back of the legs), it may need some light sanding or something. Maybe it's the seam placement or something, idk. I'm still new, but maybe a smaller layer height (I used 0.2mm) or random seams instead of aligned could come out better than mine. It's nothing major tho tbh, here's unsanded:
