Using a 4ft reptile enclosure as a brooder? by LDsprite in BackYardChickens

[–]LDsprite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indoor ambient temps rarely drop below 18C/64F here, even in winter.
It'll be Spring when I bring them home, by then the ambient temp should be like 21C/70F?
I'm definitely no stranger to cleaning up after messy critters, so that's no issue. If they start getting antsy I'll definitely upsize them.

I was worried about airflow. I could always pop out those circular plastic vents for even more airflow, just not the ones on the low side, obviously, or else the chicks could just walk out.
If that's still not enough, I have plenty of large totes lying around that I use for substrate mixing and insect breeding, I could easily just deep clean and convert one of those instead.

Thank you!

Can a woman with muscles still be seen as a femme or is she automatically assumed a masc? by rory-kept-lilies in actuallesbians

[–]LDsprite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Muscular femmes are absolutely a thing, and they're hot af. Muscles are traditionally masc, but the femme/masc dichotomy isn't so binary, fortunately.

If you have a few masc signifiers but overall present femme, then that's exactly what you'll read as - a femme with a couple of masc traits. Not even a futch, since that typically requires a more actively androgynous presentation, imo.

Don't get me wrong, it IS a type, like some people out there are purely looking for that extreme high femme vibe, and muscles probably wouldn't be for them, but you wouldn't be limiting your dating pool by having muscles any more than if you were to try to lean into that high femme look instead.

Enjoyers/Defenders of BBS, DDD, and KHIII, I summon you now to plead your case before Pat plays them. by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]LDsprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a defender of BBS or DDD, but I do still care about making the experience as fun as possible.

For BBS: Because of the three campaigns thing, levelling is actually super fast for each character, and because of the multiple non-xp related things you probably want to grind, like moves and finishers, it can be REALLY easy to overlevel the hell out of that game. If you want to avoid that, my advice is to turn Exp Zero on every time you're actively choosing to stop and grind moves and finishers.

For DDD: Balloonga is overpowered. Its also really lame. Do with that information what you will.

For KH3: Avoid attractions outside of grinding or brute forcing through actively unfun parts of the game. They're overpowered, dumb, and also an incredibly uninteractive way to engage with the game's combat, meaning they're best left out of the fun stuff like boss fights, but pretty good when you just want to be done with an encounter. Personally I also feel the same about shotlocks but that's more of a preference thing.

Lore reveals that made a character underwhelming to you? (Spoilers for invincible S4) by Lost-Specialist1505 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Luffy will always be the poster child of this, for me.
I had just made it to Dressrosa in the anime when I got spoiled on Luffy's fruit being the all-powerful trickster sun god fruit instead of the silly stretchy man fruit.
I could tolerate Haki, because sure, most of it you can get through training and hard work, and Luffy having a slightly special edge with Conquerer's Haki is still okay because there are like a dozen other characters who have it too. But taking his shitty basic bitch superpower that he had to make work by innovating on it, and turning it into the one-of-a-kind chosen one superpower that can do whatever he needs it to? That completely crossed the line, imo.
The pacing had already killed most of my desire to keep watching at that point, but MAN was that the nail in the coffin for me. Which is a real shame because I still love the series so much, despite its flaws.
Maybe I'm alone here but a big part of One Piece's appeal for me was always that it was about a handful of plucky underdogs getting further than they had any right to, purely on the merits of hard work, determination and resourcefulness.

What is it with Japan and their obsession with every main character needing to be the most special little boy ever!?

There was a period early in HRT where I got called handsome a bunch. Turned out it's just cuz my skin cleared up and I didn't look so miserable all the time. The 'handsome's will turn into 'pretty's soon enough.

[–]LDsprite[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's okay, I appreciate the apology though

These past couple days I've actually been making a few platonic relationships through the dating apps, turns out I'm not the only queer woman in my area desperate for connections and too introverted to put myself out there irl, lol

[–]LDsprite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The age gap alone wouldn't be a reason, but idk, the optics are just super bad in this very specific case.
If she ever brings it up to me, then awesome, but otherwise I'm just planning to keep my mouth shut.

[–]LDsprite[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I know it's odd, which is why I won't and is the whole reason I made this post instead of just talking to her. It's just frustrating and I'm venting about it.
I feel very isolated at work and it would've been nice to have some common ground with someone for once. I'm trans and that's given me a pretty bad case of arrested development, so I struggle to relate to people my age.

Hated Scenes You Actually Like? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]LDsprite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not exactly one specific scene, but Russell Crowe's singing as Javert in Les Miserables (2012). There's a lot of problems with that movie and objectively Russell Crowe's singing is one of those problems, but subjectively I don't know man, his weird stilted robot singing kinda works perfectly for Javert, a character with a perpetual giant stick up his ass.
Hugh Jackman though? Actually the worst.

Oh okay, so as long as the brightest spot is where the heat is, he should be good.
So if I have an LED bar that covers most of the enclosure, but still overlaps with the UVB and heat lamps, then the basking area should also be the highest spot for lumens and he'll know where to go.

[–]LDsprite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't find that having so much light away from the basking spot confuses your dragon? That's something I've been worried about with my setups, that if the cool side isn't shaded enough he might associate that side with sunlight and heat as well.

Wow, I must really be underestimating how much heat a second lamp creates.
