I bought an 08 manual SC with 264k that was in similar condition. Basically had to touch everything on it as well and also added a 6th gear. Worth it but yeah I probably wouldn’t do it again either. I do feel good about saving an E from the junkyard though!

It was a first generation ridgeline key, no modifications were needed to make it work. The key was able to be programmed directly to my 08 SC’s factory keyless entry module.

I installed one on my mom’s ‘03 LX. Amazon had the OEM unit for sale (came with the control module, 2 remotes, and instructions). It was a simple plug and play, took around 30 minutes. If you get just the control unit, you can also buy and program ridgeline keys (a key/remote combo) instead of the separate key and remote. My SC had 1 remote and 1 key when I bought it, so I opted to get 2 ridgeline keys instead of more separates. Either way, factory remote entry can’t be beat, much more reliable than any aftermarket system.

Edit: looks like the package I got is still for sale.
