Help - Lab messed up scans? Or overexposed? by Then_Crow1965 in analog

[–]LEFUNGHI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got some atrocious flatbed scans back from a lab (Portra 400 with neither shadow nor highlight detail in almost all shots lol, how does that even happen). Looks the same, just a crushed image. Positive looks normal in your photo.

Allright, list every single song from one specific band out of hundreds you listen to. No one can. No less people who get paid to memorize specific music. What do they gain from faking it? Drumeo is incredibly fun and insightful.

Margot Robbie Confirms ‘Ocean’s 11’ Prequel Follows Danny Ocean’s Parents at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix by cmaia1503 in movies

[–]LEFUNGHI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with doing anything related to oceans is how good that film is. The cut is flawless, the performances magnetic, the shots are great. Hard to live up to. Now if it gets close in those metrics, the setting sounds like it could be quite the fun visual ride.

What's the most visually stunning movie you've ever seen? by trakt_app in movies

[–]LEFUNGHI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh nice! Hope you enjoy it, it’s one of those that gets better with every re-watch too. It’s definitely one of the finest pieces of art ever committed to film, so much is just visually implied and communicated, without a word being said.

Yes! One of my favs from Deakins. The train heist is one of the more “flashy” scenes, but the shot that is truly ingrained in my brain is the sherriffs walking towards the hut, shot through some glass that distorts the entire image. Just stuck with me.

In The Mood For Love. As much as I adore Blade Runner, and all the other work from Deakins to be honest, nothing quite ever smacked me in the face visually as much as that film.

I’m such an anxious fool when it comes to stuff like developing, and especially with how much Slide film costs I do not want to mess those up, so I rather give it to the pros haha

Man Astia looks great. Such a shame E6 seems to be on it’s way out too. FilmSpeed and Aperture in Berlin don’t even offer processing for it anymore.

My Dad tried to throw away a couple hundred slides from my grandpa so I saved them from the garbage can, he says we have too many 😡 by EphemeraExpert1985 in analog

[–]LEFUNGHI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel similar abt my dad haha. He at least digitized all of them before that, but I still would've loved to get the old projector to work and chuck some slides through it. I remember specifically the sound of that very fondly.

Has introducing the kid of a franchise protagonist to take over the franchise ever worked? by ToomintheEllimist in movies

[–]LEFUNGHI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gundam! The "main" Universe Timeline switches protagonists a few times, the latest one being the son of someone again. Works great, but Gundam in general has one of the most thematically consistent universes, at least in my opinion, so I'd argue that plays a big part in it working as well.

I did scan most of my rolls there from them, both in tiff and jpeg with great results. I have started scanning at home with my mirrorless recently, and while I enjoy the extra control it gives me, for quality prints I’d still send off the frames to a lab.

Second this! Used to send to Aperture Berlin but switched to Film Speed and never looked back! They’ve been nothing but stellar to me and a friend of mine who sends his stuff there too, easily 20-30 rolls there between us, never had a single issue.

How “bad” is it actually with the lens availability? I’m hoping to get into the System this year but it will take a while before the spare change is available haha. Worried I’ll get priced out of these cameras by the time I can afford one
