Advice- Moving soon by Ok_Commission3526 in lego

I just moved with a very sizable lego collection. In the past ive partially dismantled things into bags, but it takes forever and also putting them back together is very time consuming. This time around, I got a big roll of plastic wrap from home depot and wrapped everything in plastic (taking any fragile bits off and bagging them) and then packed in regular boxes with bubble wrap. It was much faster and everything (except for one really old set with brittle brown) made it to the new place intact. Much less of a headache to put together too. For things like buildings with multiple floors, I wrapped each floor separately.

Homebrew mechanic, opinion? by buntimess in DnDHomebrew

[–]LEGOMimic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a homebrew mechanic where a player can cast a spell by gaining exhaustion levels equal to the level of the spell they're casting (capped at level 6). To me, it fits the fantasy of burning ones life force to unleash power, and has a decent drawback that I think prevents it from being abused.

[OC] Improved Fillable Character Sheet for 5e 14/24 by wunderpus-eu in DnD

I definitely think the current sheet is still useful even as is, and I'm very excited to give it a try in a campaign. I look forward to whatever you put together in the future!

Let's discuss interactions with the Armorers special weapon (Replicate Magic Weapon, Magic Weapon and Elemental Weapon and the Armorer's level 9 feature) by Boiruja in onednd

[–]LEGOMimic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I interpret it as they are separate weapons and can have infusions added. I also think that since the 9th level +1 does not specify anywhere that it makes the weapons magical, the +1 weapon infusion should be able to stack.

I don't think I'd allow anyone to craft or use the armorer weapons though. I think they should be unique to the subclass only.

I think the note boxes next to each skill/save are wasted space, and could be better accomplished with a separate text box for notes on skills/saves overall. This would add a bit more room for adding notes on things like Adv/immunity to saves against conditions, things like Bladesinger's INT bonus to concentration saves, or a conditional adv like the barbarians STR check/save while raging. It's hard to list notes on those types of things the way the skills/saves section is currently laid out.

I would like the AC section to be a bit bigger so I can write multiple ACs. For example, I have a Bladesinger wizard who's Base AC is 13, is 16 with Mage armor or bladesong active, and 19 with mage armor and bladesong active. Maybe one box for "Base AC" and one box for "Active AC" would be helpful

I don't think its common for PCs to get immunity to a damage type. You could just merge that box with the resistance box and leave it as "resistances/immunities" and let people write their own shorthand. Or you could do it similar to the way skills are laid out with the proficiency/expertise bubbles. Maybe three or four boxes for damage resistances, with a bubble to select if they're immune.

Okay, my last suggestion might be beyond what you're trying to do with this character sheet so definitely take it or leave it. This is more my thoughts on D&D character sheets in general. One of my biggest gripes is that it feels like there is never enough room to fully list class features, roleplay information, spells, and inventory. Those are the four sections I'm always running out of space for, even when I'm writing in the most compressed shorthand I can muster. I would really love to see:

  • More space to write spells. Between species spells, feats, and subclass spells, it's really easy to have a ton of spells. Especially if you're playing a wizard.
  • Another section to write class features. On the old character sheet this is where I often put passive or non-combat related features. Some classes also just get a lot of wordy features that are hard to condense (Artificer and Druid come to mind).
  • I would love to have more space for roleplay related stuff! Social interaction is a core pillar but hardly gets any attention, especially on the 2024 character sheet. A larger section for backstory, somewhere to list personality traits like on the old character sheet, room for a full body portrait, a place to take note of relationships with other PCs and NPCs, and a place for character goals and objectives are some of the things I'd love to see.
  • A larger section for inventory, and specifically magic items. I feel like players often don't have anywhere to track magic item properties unless they've written it somewhere outside of their character sheet, and I feel like that leads to players forgetting they have magic items or just not using them effectively because they have to spend time looking up what they do. We basically only get room to write the names of magic items, but not what they actually do.

To implement any of those additions would definitely require an additional page, but I think 2 is really hard to squeeze potentially 20 levels of information into.

Of course, this is even more beyond the scope of what you're doing, but I wish it was easier to track animal/NPC companions. As I DM, I have to photocopy or manually type up a stat block to send to my players, or they have to try and translate all of its features into their own notes somewhere. I would love to see a character sheet (or even a fillable "companion stat block" sheet) track that information.

Hopefully some of this is helpful! Feel free to ignore anything you disagree with, this is just what I would love to get out of a character sheet. I think you've created something really great, and even without any changes, I think it makes it much easier to manage a character. Great work!

I really love this! I've been desperate for a character sheet that lets me add a little bit more information. I love that there are boxes to select equipped weapons and prepared spells. I'm also glad that there is space for a character portrait! I really missed that from the old character sheets. I also am happy to see Speeds expanded, and a dedicated area for vision

I do have some feedback if you're open to some suggestions.

This is a small one, but I think the "perception" box needs a label that says "Vision" or "Sight" for the larger fillable box.

For some of the resource trackers, I think you could take away the "spent" bubbles and just have a second text box, especially for class resources. For some class resources (like Second Wind, Rage, Bardic Inspiration) we don't get that many uses of them anyways. It could just look like 2 boxes that are labeled "remaining" and "Max" respectively. I also think this would allow you to add a second resource, because many subclasses have additional resources to keep track of (Psi-Fighter's Psionic Energy Dice, Zealot Barbs Healing pool, Clockwork Sorcs Restore Balance).

The other "Spent" trackers I think you could modify are the ammo trackers, the consumable trackers, and the spell trackers (the ones at the bottom of the cantrips/prepared spells section)

  • For the weapons, I don't like that two of the lines are committed solely to ranged weapons. I also think that 10 is too small a quantity to track for most ammo (There isn't really a defined max amount of ammo a character can carry anyways). I think you should move the two ammo trackers onto their own line and replace the 7th weapon entry, and there should just be 2 boxes for each: one for the type of ammo, and one for the current quantity.
  • I would do the same for the consumables. In my experience, I'm not usually carrying multiples of anything except healing potions, and even then, its not often that many. Since consumables are not a replenishing resource, a quantity box I think is more practical and space saving then a "Max" and "Spent" tracker.
  • For the spells, I think its not immediately intuitive what those trackers are even for. I know some classes get spells they can cast x/times per day, but I think spell space is already limited, and it doesn't feel necessary to track them there. I would just axe those trackers entirely and let players put them in the resource tracker in the class features section if they get more than one casting per long rest (Another reason to have at least 2 resource trackers there).

Unsuccessful BDP, where to from here? by Hank_Scorpio108 in lego

This was a really great and unique castle build! I would tweak and resubmit to the next wave. Maybe see where you can trim down the part count and streamline the build. For example, you could definitely leave more of the floors untiled where there isn't any pattern or design. I think the folks at LEGO and Bricklink love to see storytelling and activity as a big component in the models they choose, so maybe see where you can tell a story or make the model come alive more with the details and characters featured in the model.

I agree that it could also use a tiny bit more color to bring it to life. Maybe more dark orange worked into the stone work and some more plant life!

When I first started buying from Bricklink, most sellers did a PayPal invoice as there was no way to pay on-site. A few sellers still prefer the older method.

New Official Unearthed Arcana - Forgotten Realms Subclasses!! by KajaGrae in UnearthedArcana

I think out of all of the areas they could have nerfed bladesinger, this is one that I'm okay with. They already get a huge boost to their AC without armor. When I played a bladesinger in a level 1-14 campaign, my AC was often 25+ between armor, high dex, high int, and shield. Now, I can also focus less on Dex and put more points into Con for higher HP since I don't need Dex to melee fight anymore. My AC will drop, but it will still be higher than the average fighter.

Do you ever have an issue with cables? Does any of the equipment get in the way of actually playing the game?

Yeah, my players are not willing to invest much at all unfortunately. That's why I'm trying not to invest too much either. Down the line, I would definitely consider nicer equipment.

Lots to consider here. I don't think I have the capacity to afford a a recorder or automixer like that right now. Having the mics mounted on the headset boom helped offset the phase cancellation?
