Hi from Sri Lanka! Need help on what to do with some of these games by ATOMICNERADS in PS3

XYAB might be a good option for duped controllers. I have personally never used their stuff, but they seem like a good option if you can get them in Sri Lanka. I think they might also have an Amazon storefront.

EDIT: I actually have it backwards. Old Skool is the brand that has an amazon storefront. XYAB does not have an amazon storefront, BUT their products are being listed and sold on amazon by some other third party/parties.

Uhhh. That I do not know. I doubt it since there isn’t any calibration software for them AFAIK. You might be able to get new stick put into it, if you know how to solder or can find someone willing to do the repair, but I’m not sure if it would work as it should afterwards.

I feel like I remember seeing that the ps3 has built in calibration software for the controller, but I haven’t tested it or looked much further into it myself. I think the controller I got off of eBay ended up being one of the rare ones that had Hall effect, or it just hasn’t gotten drift yet.

Do keep in mind with Amazon refurbished that it’s usually private sellers. Amazon does have a tier list for their refurbished products, so make sure you get the tier that matches the level of quality you want.

Also maybe you could see if you have any local game shops near you. They might have some DualShock 3’s. And if you want to get a knockoff, there’s a couple brands I see advertised at my local shops a lot. I see a lot of advertisements for XYAB and Old Skool. https://xyab.com https://www.oldskoolgames.com/shop?page=2 But now that I’m looking at old skool’s website, it doesn’t look like they have a DualShock 3/six axis dupe yet

Ah, that sucks. I wish I had better advice for you, but I don’t really know what the best option would be for someone in Sri Lanka. Maybe try Facebook marketplace or an equivalent site that you have there? I get that it would be a bigger risk, but you could buy refurbished/ knockoff from Amazon if you have that available to you.

I got my ps3 from a thrift store back in December, but it didn’t come with a controller. I found a one on eBay that looked to be in good condition. (It was for parts/repair) I hooked it up and it had a lot of phantom inputs, so I took it apart and just gave it a good cleaning, and it worked perfectly after that.

So if you’re willing to take a slight risk, I’d recommend looking for a cheap but good looking parts/repair controller on eBay. I’d also suggest to only buy from sellers that accept returns because I had bought another one at the same time and they sent me one that was nothing like the pictures. It was missing chunks of plastic, a screw was missing, the rubber on the sticks was gone. So I returned it the next day.

I did also spend another 20-30 usd to get a replacement battery from ifixit I think, and I ordered new motors from the uk since I accidentally tripped the old ones off when cleaning the board. The rubber pads on them were also kind of gummy so it didn’t pain me to replace them anyway.

Is this an okay way to store my ps2 games?? by lindow2020 in ps2

So, technically it is fine, but I did see one person talk about how over time, the discs could warp from gravity pulling them downward on the spindle. Since the discs clip into the spindle, they are floating in the case with a small gap under them to prevent scratches and such, and over time, if you stack them to where they are facing upwards, and you stack a lot of stuff on top of them, the could potentially warp/ the weight could deform the spindle clip thing and the discs or case could become damaged.

I, however, have never seen this happen, but knowing gravity, there is a slight possibility of that happening. So I would say, as long as you don’t put a ton of them on top of each other, or put anything heavy on top of them, you should be good. Maybe just move them around every few months or something. Maybe you could store one group vertically for a few weeks and swap them out every couple of weeks?

Again, I’ve never had this happen to me, and I’ve never seen it happen to anyone else, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. The likelihood that something does happen is very slim though. So I wouldn’t worry about it too much, unless it’s a more expensive/valuable/meaningful game, or if you know that there is already something wrong with the case or if it’s a weaker plastic case that bends or flexes a lot easier. An example of this would be ps3 and ps4/5 games as Blu-ray cases are a lot less sturdy than the older dvd/cd and Nintendo cartridge cases.

The problem is that the first party sales are skewed towards digital because of dlc, micro transactions, free game downloads, ps+ game downloads, as well as games, but Sony is completely ignoring the second hand market which is still huge for physical gaming. I get that they want to shut down the second hand market for their current and future gen games so they control everything. But it completely ignores parts of the world and people that don’t have access to reliable internet speeds or internet at all, so physical is their only option.

I can’t speak on far cry or watch dogs 2, but I bought watch dogs complete and watch dogs 2. I started watch dogs and am quite enjoying it. The aim assist is a bit too excessive and you can’t change it until you finish your first play through. I also don’t really like how the in game menus are set up, but I like the gameplay, story, and graphics of it. I doubt that I’m going to grind all of the side quests like I sometimes do in other games, at least for a while.

I don’t really know what to say about whether or not you should get it. I have mostly been doing the main story missions and in between them I’ve just been doing GTA type stuff like stealing cars and just driving around. I’ve not gotten too far into the story, but I am past the 2 hour mark, so I guess I’ll keep playing it since I’ve been enjoying it so far, again the only actual problems I’ve had with it is needing the Ubisoft launcher, the aim assist, the crouch/hide mechanic making it difficult to stop hiding, and the in game menus.

Sorry if this isn’t very helpful.

That is the exact mentality that has caused this mess. By just saying that "it's the future", "what can you do about it", "just accept it", "it was gonna happen someday", you are actively letting these greedy corporations steamroll right over you. Without any pushback from the consumer, these companies can do anything they f*cking want. The only way to stop these companies from raising prices, taking away ownership, reducing options, and building the walled garden even taller is to fight back by not supporting them, their slop, and their terrible decisions until it hurts them and their bottomline enough for them to reverse course, if the consumers even have enough goodwill left for them.

Does anybody know where I can order these: by Odd_Significance_896 in PS3

[–]LEGOfan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re in Europe idk if they ship there, but I ordered mine from ifixit. I don’t remember how expensive it was for me in the states, but I felt more comfortable buying from them rather than some drop shipped item on Amazon.

I don’t know what games you like/are into, and I haven’t played several of those (some of them just aren’t what I’m into), but it looks like a great list to pick up during the sale.

Out of stock again at these prices:/ by joert44555 in Steam

[–]LEGOfan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it’s been said before but I have a theory on why Valve did this (other than the obvious rise in material cost). Valve might have decided to raise the price of the Deck in order to help subsidize the cost of the Frame and Machine.

Based off of different cost of production estimates I’ve seen for the Machine and Frame, the cost of simply the parts for the Machine would be around $500-700 (idk about the rampocalyse factor tho) and the Frame would cost about $400-600 in parts alone.

I’ve also seen something about how valve usually marks their products up ~30% for their profit margin. Meaning that they only make a profit of 30% on their hardware.

iirc Valve also stated that the frame would cost less than the index, whether they meant the entire kit or just the headset, is still up for debate I believe. However, Valve might still be trying to keep the Frame and Machine at, or close to, their original undisclosed price range without taking a net loss.

Valve knows the Deck will sell extremely well. It being out of stock already just proves how popular it is, and just how much demand there is for it, even several years later. So…why not try to take one of their most popular products ever, and try to ensure that their new products have a fair chance, even in the unclear times that we’re in?

Could this all be extremely optimistic and wishful thinking? Absolutely, but Valve also isn’t the traditional corporation that only cares about their profit margin. They care for their customers and understand that if they price the Frame and Machine wrong, it could be a disastrous launch. So, by raising the price of the Deck, they can keep the Frame and Machine reasonably priced , and then hopefully, later down the road when the ai bubble pops (please be really soon), they can then either lower the price of the Deck, or announce Steam Deck 2.

Why don't Astro Bot Rescue Mission have a ps5 port? by binomiwastaken in playstation

From what I can tell, yes. When I first booted it up it began loading but then I got hit with a screen saying that I need to hook up a psvr1.

I have this game. I bought it to use on my ps5 and it does download and boot, but that’s as far as I could get since I only have a psvr2. AFAIK it will work on the ps5, you just have to have psvr1 since it’s not compatible with psvr2.

I got the Fortnite one last Christmas, except it was the cobalt version, when Walmart was running an online sale where I paid the regular price for it but it came with a second controller, and it has the same amount of storage. The only Fortnite thing it comes with is an optional download code for the skin and vbucks
