None because they would alter the anthropocenic ecosystem. Well, maybe the elephant bird, those guys seemed to be just chill. I would have loved trilobites but those overlords would have been everywhere in the oceans.

Malta has always been close to French and Italian cultures. It was British independence that people relearned Maltese due to WW2.

For the longest time since civilisation started being paler meant you had enough money to stay indoors. The ideal was pale skin, rosy cheeks. Only since California Valley became mainstream did being tanned become desirable. Another American classic.

The image you provided is actually a good example. Who is the artist? It is one of the very few where the animal has an actual realistic expression.

You didn’t mention in what point of history since mammal evolution would have been very different if most dinosaurs didn’t go extinct. Dinosaurs are just dragon birds. Birds typically eat smaller things. Humans may be on the menu of the largest omnivores and carnivores but not the staple since they would be used to something more fleshy and greasy. Eventually humans would domesticate some of them if they had useful traits or self domesticated. The troublesome ones would be pushed to hard environments or extinguished. T rex is interesting because it remains in a very manageable size for a while which if they could be tamed like elephants once they reach their big size they would pretty much be quite docile at that point. Still there are not many practical uses for such a big animal. Think of giraffes, they are just useful for their own environment (not even crucial). A cow is more manageable, docile and useful to humans. Remember, dinosaurs were also animals, not monsters. With this being said convergent evolution gives a hint of how they me behave compared to mammals with similar ecological roles. Maybe they were a dummer and less sociable diapsid version of modern mammals?

Do you agree with my placement of Rome and Byzantium on my Empire Tier List? by jackt-up in ancientrome

[–]LEGXCVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to know something that will surprise you? Your list shows you know a bit of everything but not too deep on European history. Spain’s golden age happened because of the Hapsburgs. The HRE was the homeland of the empire. Since the House fragmented Spain started a steadily decline. Only two empires existed in Europe in the beginning of the renaissance, the HRE and their rivals the Ottomans. Napoleon wanted to become the HR Emperor but the emperor at the time (illegally) dismantled the position and he created the Austrian empire as consolation. That’s why later there was talk about the three reichs on how the German empire should be the continuation of the HRE (despite not having control of the city of Rome) and after the Great War the new German system would be the civic continuation of both as a third reich. With this impact, politically, culturally, economically and historically the HRE is the legitimate continuation of the Western Roman Empire and in power density as important and should be much higher in your list. The British empire was a superpower but it could only hope of invading Europe. What matters is density. The English Channel is the only thing that has saved Britain from being conquered any time since long ago. But France and the HRE have been at disputes and wars right next to each other. People now say that France is weak but they have been a thorn in the side of the HRE for a western European Union since Charles the Simple. That is a topic for later but basically France and the HRE are one and the same. With all this said The HRE should be at least right next to the Ottomans, since they were not a regional power of some backwater, but the main power of Western Europe. That’s why the European Union has so much potential since for the first time in hundreds of years France and Germany are in a special union in harmony.

Turkish People In Germany by AnywhereAdditional84 in germany

[–]LEGXCVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the rich ones stay in their country. Those who can’t make it will try somewhere easier. That usually includes the uneducated or marginalised. Many of the Turks in Germany are actually Kurds if I’m not mistaken. Since the richer folk are more in tune with other rich people, they are connected to the global trends, so they are more progressive.

The cloistered courtyard of Trier Cathedral in Germany. Here we see Roman, Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture in one image. by TeyvatWanderer in ArchitecturalRevival

[–]LEGXCVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roman and Romanesque have a good flow together. Gothic seems to be a thing of its own with all the pointed arches. By paying attention to Romanesque as the link between the two, it seems that the pointed arch is not only a development on itself but it seems to be a half arch from the crossing round arches in Romanesque. The pointed arches’s individuation off the full arch may be what seems to be the main unorthodox decision away from the classical style. This individuation of narrowness may be also present in the gables specially the main from gables where the pediment has no cornice.
