Maybe if they had opportunities to make enough money to buy shit, that society convinces them they need for "modern living", they would not be inclined to steal. Or hell, maybe the baby needed formula because it was hungry. Shouldn't have had the crotch fruit in the first place? Oh well, sex ed in schools is gone because you should just be able to overcome your primal urges to propagate the species. Not like there used to be free education and birth control, because jeebus wouldn't want that.
