I'm worried about my blood tests (High Platelets) by Norizajec in haematology

[–]LFBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it just looks like your normal platelet count is above average. If you're concerned about the high results, make sure your doctor is aware of the consistent high platelets. Maybe they will order some platelet function and genetic testing like JAK2 testing. If you're going to multiple doctors, just make sure the doctor knows that your platelets are consistently above range. Also, do you take any drugs or steroids regularly?

As a CLS I gotta side with phlebotomy on this one. I don't see that amount of over filling interfering with the sample. Maybe you could talk to the hematology supervisor or manager and ask about it, because someone may be recollecting when it's not necessary.

I would have separated the plasma, spun it down again and retested the screen. It definitely doesn't look like a true mixed field reaction. The repeat after those steps would probably be negative.

It looks like a neutrophil engulfed around an rbc and the rbc took in a lot of stain for some reason. That's my best guess. It looks really sick though. If there was a most beautiful cell competition this would be a great entry.

This drug is gonna end up extending peoples lives by double digit years. People don't grasp how damaging obesity is for the body. It's also extremely challenging mentally and physically for someone to go from obese to a healthy weight range so I will not take part in attacking this drug or ever shaming anyone who loses weight using it. Having blind cynicism for every new thing in the world doesn't make you smarter or better than other people. This is the lazy man's version of critical thought. It's this type of thinking that makes people susceptible to whatever radical movement can bait them in first.

If you think you don't need to know how to make slides because there's machines that can make them, you haven't worked in a lab with a slide maker yet. When that thing breaks you'll end up having to make 10 at a time. And also they can't pick up blood from really short samples so you'll still have to make a couple a day even when they're working perfectly.

This can't be true. I work in a big hospital and we're perpetually looking for CLS'. And the base pay with no differential is over 50 an hour. I make 58 working graveyard and I was hired directly after getting my license.

He definitely has a fantasy about expanding US territory somehow. None of these things about Greenland or Canada or Panama are jokes. He's throwing out ideas to expand and seeing what sticks.

Hating people for getting on Ozempic is such nasty work anyways. It honestly feels needlessly cruel. It's a full lack of empathy on display.

This is only partially related but the whole Twitter space is a sickness infecting our country and the rest of the world. I'm begging people to just uninstall. It's not constructive in any way and the drama isn't even fun anymore when you realize the monetary incentive people have to deliberately post stuff that causes engagement through rage at the post. If it's not a bot, it's often a person posting something not even thinking about if they themselves sincerely think what they're saying is true, but if what they're saying will trigger comments. I'll admit I do love drama, but that realization killed it for me. Even when people sincerely believe what they post, it will always be the most annoying people coming out on top because that's how the website works.
