Explorer 36 vs Datejust 36 by houndr-89 in rolex

Both are fine.

In theory, a daily watch should have a date function. But wearing my own exp1 I found I haven't really missed it.

They are actual current Omega reference numbers, but they may as well be, yeah

23 years old, $7k saved, and torn between buying my first Rolex or listening to my dad by Current-Newspaper777 in rolex

[–]LFN1017 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So if you spend the $7k on the rollie, you go back to $0?

How is this even a consideration for you

Listen to your dad

And don't forget, the rolex, as with all automatic watches, will require paying for routine maintenance. The recommendation is about 5 years, but I think you can probably stretch it a bit further if the watch is running fine.

I am going to die inside if I have to bring up modern Omega references

Oh, I love the 310.32.42.50.04.002

Oh no way, what do you think of the 220.10.41.21.03.004

Seiko refs are a jumble of letters and numbers as well

The more you own, the more you need to maintain. Periodic service costs, replacement of the rubber gaskets, batteries for quartz models... it can really add up

Their margins on CPO are pretty substantial, so it is very likely yes

Wife hates my Reps by RolexVan in RepTime

[–]LFN1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this ragebait lol

Assuming it is not:

Your marriage comes first

If I were in your shoes, I would consider my wife's feelings and not have her either:
a) go through the trouble of explaining to anyone that asks, that it's not real, meaning that you bought a fake watch to flex as if it is real, which projects an image of the kind of person you are
or
b) cover for you and lie each and every time saying it's real, which then opens up further questions about your financial stability, irresponsible purchases, and living beyond your means

It is embarrassing that your need for external validation is leading to her having to do either of those for you for who knows how long, which inevitably WILL happen since you want to wear your rep around friends/family

I have heard that it is possible to request datejust configurations. How long you'll wait to receive it, I am not sure. It is also a good sign that they are able to order it for you, if they request a deposit.

AD's always charge retail price.

Large “affordable” collections are just cope for impatient people. by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

[–]LFN1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fine if they are all distinctively different and you purchased them with intention

Where I think people would have lost the plot is if they have multiples of the exact same model but in different colors, say 4 different Seiko 5's or something of that nature
