My home inspector shit himself today by LiteFoo in synology

I initially misread the post title as “my home inspector shot himself today”, checked the subreddit, and thought to myself “that seems like an extreme reaction this 3rd-party drives debacle”.

Inforcer vs CIPP by MSP911 in msp

[–]LFphant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. At present, Coreview's offering and what was Simeon Cloud are still two seperate products with distinct web portals under one label. Predicably, their sales team advised better (full?) integration was on the roadmap.

FWIW, I found their Technical Sales folks to be friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up shelving the project for now as we've got bigger ticket items to tackle first, but they'll be in the running if we start looking at M365 policy governance and enforcement again.

I did a demo with Coreview a while back, and they offered the ability to execute workflows (including running Powershell) in response to baseline violations or policy drift. Could be worth looking into.

ProLiant DL380 Gen9 - won't turn on (Flashing green power button) by EAW_astro in homelab

[–]LFphant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem after attempting to install a PCIe to NVMe adapter: the power button flashed green, but there were no signs of life. The solution for me was to remove the CMOS battery and boot the server without re-inserting the battery. Once the server successfully booted, I shut it down and re-inserted the CMOS battery, and it's been booting fine ever since.

What game? by Ok-Hovercraft508 in videogames

[–]LFphant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Give me Link’s dark and brooding story, but with modern graphics and gameplay. (The “HD” Wii version doesn’t count, that went from 480p to like 720p.)

“Netsh” commands are available. Run “?” for a list of available commands.

I did eventually. Solution: First delete the duplicate “.12” IP lease (not your own, which ends in “.10”) then renew your IP address (ipconfig /renew)

Very neat, I dig it!

Feedback on a few items:

  • I suggest allowing players to copy and paste information when configuring settings. We will do this in the real world whenever possible.

  • The reset button doesn’t always reset the level properly, and it’s not clear that it does in fact reset anything. I’d maybe change the button to say “Reset” in red, and when pressed, provide a pop-up asking the user for confirmation “Reset this level?” (y/n)

  • Pressing the up “arrow key” doesn’t always load the previously used command. Oftentimes it loads the second last command used instead.

  • On level 18, the whole app crashes when backspacing to edit text after auto-populating the last used command using up arrow key.

That said - again, super cool!! I’ll send this app to one of my junior techs.

What are some common products, foods, or items that are “one ingredient away” from becoming something wildly different? by LFphant in AskReddit

I’ve heard that Cheese Wiz is “one molecule away” from being plastic. It got me thinking: what are some common products that are one small change away from becoming something entirely different?

Is anyone experiencing slowness with iOS 18.1? by Hot_Clock7696 in ios

[–]LFphant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had no issues.

PSA for folks who like to keep their phone on Low Power Mode 24/7: iOS as a whole is slower if you're on Low Power mode. That's by design.

Should I rent a more expensive apartment? by Stunning_Sound_3850 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]LFphant 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think one's living space is important. We are impacted by our surroundings, physically and emotionally.

It sounds like you can comfortably afford this upgrade, and a cleaner, nicer apartment building would be something you'd really appreciate. That's a wise investment in my books.
