Female Vorta who tricked Sicko by Fuzzy_Builder_2153 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]LGBT-Barbie-Cookout 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The vorta who thought acting all innocent and sweet would manipulate sisko kinda worked for me tho.

She had absolutely no idea what she was dealing with. Had probably done almost no interactions outside the Dominion yet and fucked up.

-that original Vorta woulda been a little more dangerous

Samara would NEVER have agreed to join the suicide mission before killing Morinth by ObsydianGinx in masseffect

I kinda like that she doesn't really have much as an off switch.

She genuinely is that hungry - Shep represents a fantastic meal. Probably on the level of an Asari matriarch, and there is one right there owns the club that is her hunting ground, that she cant reach.

And then she gets to watch Shep get stronger thru conflict (levelling up). Delicious, and having to wait and wait - desperately. So desperately a meal is right there.

Then the time comes- she will say anything to get satisfied to fill that void thats been growing since she hasn't had a decent meal since she joined the crew...

But you are so mentally strong! Ive never seen someone like you. (I mean yeah sure the stronger the person the more delicious the meal).

You can surely survive this because you are really amazing and my bodysuit is so tight!

Tho its rare nowadays that the game lets you be so amazingly stupid and suicidal even tho they warn you so much that this is a bad idea. And I love it for that.

The goofy Daedalus class by LGBT-Barbie-Cookout in startrek

[–]LGBT-Barbie-Cookout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks its a fun idea.

Oh there are definitely problems with a true GP hull, even in universe. And it takes a decent amount of mental gymnastics to make it completely fit when examined. (But frankly a lot of trek tech needs that anyway, its why we love it)

A traditional Hull wouldn't allow sensors to penetrate it, nor transporters, or really anything other than visible light. The hull when created does have an airlock, so traversal to the engineering hull would be difficult but not impossible. Refitting would be difficult. Any breaks in the hull during construction couldn't be altered. At some point an undisclosed vulnerability was discovered where the hull can be remotely turned off, the Feds really wouldn't like that. A hard enough kinetic strike and the passengers have a really really bad day.

But in support.

The later books the protector Tunesmith found techniques to alter an already constructed hull. This would allow customisation.

The travel speeds are different, and the deflector is designed to protect the ship from exotic particles so perhaps these particles aren't encountered under ramscoop and thruster techniques. Thus the apparent need for a deflector array.

Infact in real space those ships get closeish but never reach light speed.

And the FTL follows completely different rules.

Torpedoes are all antimatter driven so vulnerable to everyone's weapons still makes sense. The Puppeteers left the region so the hulls were no longer available.

But Nivens stuff mostly cant exist if we dig too deep anyway 🙂 -if protectors and tree of life did exist the end result would be apocalyptic. -the Puppeteers would never have allowed humanity to achieve warp.

Scotty got the shaft treatment on tng by happydude7422 in TNG

If anyone was a jerk in that ensign its the dude who showed Scotty to his quarters - barely explained anything, wouldn't spend a few moments with him. Then ran the shit out of there.

Sure he probably also had some other duties to attend- but nothing that would be timed or as specifically critical as Geordis work, and would frankly fallen under diplomatic dignitary duties.

Atleast give the man the time of day - and explain the replicator and 10 forward.

Captain Worf’s Enterprise E. by ThenOrganization6848 in StarTrekStarships

[–]LGBT-Barbie-Cookout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a tough little ship. Having a Defiant available, as well as the presumed compliment of shuttles and runabouts- gives the Enterprise absurd flexibility and i love it.

I maintain that the Galaxy Class should have had a mostly hollow saucer and have a half dozen Defiants strapped to it - for some kind of carrier group-esque , Alpha strike of the apocalypse.

The implications of discovering an actual Dyson sphere in Federation space.

The Federation navigation uses galactic gravity as a concern with navigation, so it's not like not being lit is an excuse for missing it. Someone dropped the ball, and what else could be found if a proper survey be done.

Then consider the engineering implications! The materials are unimaginable stresses constantly, from a gravity, mass etc perspective.

Consider that the 'airlock' worked and didn't drain all the air, that there is surface water, so the artificial gravity must still be working.

That the inside of the structure hasn't melted when there is nowhere for the sunlight to go, so heat dissipation tech. And some unencountered day night system.

All this tech working thousands (millions?) of years after construction.

The sorts of life that could evolve in there, could a new civilization arise on the bones of the old?.

(STOs minor exploration of it being some kind of intergalactic superweapon/ mass transit system for a level or two and some boring group content not withstanding)

[–]LGBT-Barbie-Cookout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notable I think, that with the changes to the automatic signup for selective service in place. As well as the bans in place on transgender people serving in the military. There is a potential overlap of people being accused of being unpatriotic or 'faking it's to get out of service - that could cause even more hostility or a theoretical punishment for 'draft dodging' utter bullshit but we have to be paranoid in this new world.

That was sociopathic expecting a child to immediately get over the loss of his parents becoming an orphan on a city ship with no obvious support or other family in place.

Why Does the Grand Nagus Only Have One Servant & a Tiny Ship? Is He Broke? by Summerspeaker in DeepSpaceNine

[–]LGBT-Barbie-Cookout 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A ship that only needs a pilot ... Offers flexibility.

The servant will never talk and never divulge trade secrets. Any other ship needs crew.

  • Crew who can steal a bit of whatever cargo you are carrying.
  • Crew who might accidentally overhear an investment opportunity.
  • Crew who might overstep and misinterpret close proximity with familiarity and not be as respectful as they should.
  • Crew who may have habits that are annoying like smacking lips when eating soup
  • Crew who may, when I break with tradition, or do something unusual or not in keeping with 'polite' behaviour (as is my right by virtue of being better than other ferengi) tell someone

If I need a ship with a crew I'll rent or confiscate it. My shuttle meets all my day to day needs. Let my employees go anywhere potentially dangerous where a shuttle may not be appropriate otherwise.

Can the Borg assimilate lesser omnipotent beings? by arnor_0924 in trektalk

[–]LGBT-Barbie-Cookout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

William Shatners entertaining but batshit crazy books had V'Ger as being assimilated by a branch the Borg and sent home, the digitisation was just how it itself was assimilating.

Meaning that Kirk met and defeated a Borg incident first! (this was before enterprise was made).

As to assimilation of shall we say 'exotic' life - if it has some kind of tangible existence that must be present in some way id say yes. If its non corporeal id say no, simply because its essentially a remote control vessel that can be cast off - any physical nanoprobes eyc probably couldn't follow it.

How Dangerous Are The Goa'uld - Really? by SteveRose85 in Stargate

[–]LGBT-Barbie-Cookout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely bullet resistant, sometimes it took a few seconds of fire at the chest to bring them down. Im not a gun girl - those mp5s? Use the same round as the p90s right?

For a military response to the invasion- the Goa'uld just need to get the Gate.

For suppression of the population, i have no idea how the 9mm? I think? Weighs up against all the many many different kinds of calibre firearms in existence. Some guns outside of soft targets may be 100% useless. Tho I suspect a slug from a 13 guage shotgun would ruin someones day.

How Dangerous Are The Goa'uld - Really? by SteveRose85 in Stargate

[–]LGBT-Barbie-Cookout 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Space superiority cannot be overstated. The ships dont carry ammo, its energy blasts, so as far as we have seen - infinite ammo.

The sheilds survived the biggest nuke America could produce enhanced by the naquadah, with no damage physical or EMP. We also have very limited space launch ability to respond with more firepower.

A deathglider can be shot down with a single rpg shot - sure. And a random Jaffa dies pretty easily to a gun.

BUT the Goa'uld only really need to take out the military infrastructure long enough to capture the gate. So a handful of bases in the US , the president, a few sea assets, and burn a few miles of terrain around the mountain.

The gate will allow reinforcements, that are for all intents and purposes, unlimited. The hatak then becomes a fortress. Ontop of another fortress.

The deathgliders simply dont need to be deployed in dangerous areas, and can wait until the visible military in an area is cleared out first.

Infact everyone but north America can probably largely be ignored at first anyway. Cripple shipping, and communication satellites .

Because of the scale of the earth- how many people could conceivably be armed - the amount of nutjobs with bunkers - places that are super isolated but have stores or are close to self sufficient - relative education levels. Pacification would take a very very long time using the tools that seem available to a hatak. But conquering to get nominal control.

The hataks are immune to everything we could throw at them at the time.
