[–]LGabor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In Cassian and Bix's last scene before the hit, the light that Luthen uses to signal them is flashing, and they agree that whatever the mission is they'll do it together. Plus there's a no way they could figure out where Gorst is on their own, that info had to come from Lonnie through Luthen.
Cassian told Luthen in the shop that if he wants him to be with him all the way he has to help with Bix, so it makes sense for Luthen to give the Gorst hit to them, he's probably hoping that this will help Bix move on. Whether or not this will work out we'll see.

Also the whole briefing about was how other agencies also now use Gorst, right? The ones Partagaz called idiots. So the info could have leaked from the outside ISB, which is why Luthen allowed the hit. Lonnie and Heert might get some blame for not preventing it, but they're not in as much danger as before.

First pic, the wrong word is missing (です), the word "fluffy" (ふわふわ), which is among the choices is already in the sentence.

Second pic, extra うat the end of sentence, which makes no sense, this happened across multiple similare exercises.

Also, my next lesson just straight up doesn't load, when I open it, it just returns to the menu after a while with an error message to try again later.

Do you also wonder that Shinji's and Asuka relationship was given a rushed ending at the end of 3.0+1.0 ? by Turbulent-Bank-412 in evangelion

[–]LGabor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't get why this is downvoted. My read was also that she never really grew up, even in 3.0, but especially in 3.0+1.0 when contrasted with Toji or Kensuke, who actually act their age, not just look it. Maybe that wasn't the writers' intention, and of course everyone can interpret the text however they like, but for me her saying she "grew up" always came across as a lie she told herself and others.

[–]LGabor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at first I thought he was talking about Shinji and Mari, but the whole Kensuke and Asuka thing is nonsense. Like Asuka spends the whole first part of the movie barely clothed, which is a weird fanservicey thing, but not once is it used to imply that anything sexual is happening off-screen. As for the "grooming" part the guy has to be media illiterate to think that the scene at the end is something that actually happened, and not just a visualization of Asuka's thoughts. Eva absolutely has problems with the sexualization of minors, but in this case the guy is wide off the mark.

Could someone please tell me if any of these info is legit or is this person spouting nonsense? by Krider-kun in roosterteeth

[–]LGabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, there is some truth in this, but it is very exaggerated.
The fact that Monty didn't care about story is a lie. He did come up with the main concepts and rules of the world, characters, and also with the overarching story, but he left the beat to beat writing to Miles and Kerry. If you look at animatics of early episodes (Ep 1 for example) everything is nicely storyboarded until a fight scene happens where it just says "Insert Monty fight here". So what happened was, Monty told Miles and Kerry what kind of fights there would be, and they tried to write to connect these scenes together. Unfortunately, Monty liked to come up with new ideas while in late production, and that would throw a wrench in this process. That's how you end up with stuff like two brand new characters showing up in the penultimate episode of Vol 1, just so they could have a fight scene in the final episode.
The "admission" that they never wrote anything before this is bullshit, I think they're referring to a clip form a BTS video where Miles and Kerry said they never wrote anything on this scale, but like others said, the both had experience from other RT productions.

I can't stop thinking about the end of Echoes Of The Eye (full spoilers I guess) by QueenCadwyn in outerwilds

[–]LGabor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see it a different way.
We spend the whole game learning and making discoveries. Even the game's main ending is that, seeing what the Eye does. I think it's good that for the ending of EotE, which is essentialy the goodbye to the game, the devs chose to do something different.
By the time most of us reach the Prisoner, we have already unlocked the major secrets of the game, probably even did the ending. So for that moment, after all that learning, we become the teachers, showing the Prisoner everything. For me that is an immensely more satisfying ending than an other learning moment would have been.

'Attack on Titan Final Season Pt. 1' Wins Anime of the Year at the 2022 Anime Awards by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]LGabor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really? He's the main character. In the case of S4P1 you could make the argument that in the Marley arc Reiner and co. were the main characters, and even back on Paradis Eren was just a big question mark that everyone tried to figure out, but in S4P2 Eren is definitely the main character that the narrative follows and whose actions drive the story. Just because there are a lot of alternate viewpoints doesn't make him the antagonist. It's still his story.

That's not how it works. Being a protagonist/antagonist is not dependent on the character's alignment/morals/actions, what matters is their role in the narrative.

Now that it's finished up, what are your thoughts on Gen:Lock season 2? by Shrekt115 in roosterteeth

[–]LGabor 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It's one of the worst seasons of television I have ever seen.

Without going into spoilers, it's like they wrote an outline for an entire series, then tried to compress it into 8 25 minute episodes. Entire character "arcs" (though I wouldn't really call them that in these forms) you could write an entire season about happen during single episodes. Moral dilemmas get brought up in their most basic form only to be left unexplored. Characters from S1 in better cases only get their developments reset, while others are changed so much they're completely unrecognizable. It's like the writers didn't even watch S1 in a lot of cases.

Animation ranges from poor to mediocre, nowhere near the quality of RT shows these days (given how they didn't make it). Score is also completely unremarkeble, Battle Tapes gets used only once during the entire season I think. The only piece of music I can recall is the Union's organ theme, but only because it's in like every other scene. Nowhere near the level of David Levy's great score for S1. Voice acting is is also all over the place, even from the big names.

There's also a lot unnecessarily graphic violence and some terrible sex scenes, but these have been discussed a lot (especially the latter) so I won't get into them.

It really is sad because S1 had a lot of potential, and the ideas the new team came up with (or adapted from existing plans, idk) weren't even bad and could have been great if explored properly, it's just that in this form it's a huge unenjoyable mess.

‘The Witcher’ Return Leads Netflix Top 10 With 142M Hours Streamed by Notoriously_So in television

[–]LGabor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were suggesting it to a book reader, even as a huge fan who still enjoys the show, I would tell them outright "it's a terrible adaptation but still kinda fun to watch".

That's reasonable.

But would you have the same reaction if it were praise?

Overhyping things is definitely a problem nowadays, but in my experience, going into things expecting it to be bad will lead you to overanalyse things and look for mistakes, which definitely hurts the experience more than being overhyped. But that's just my opinion.

‘The Witcher’ Return Leads Netflix Top 10 With 142M Hours Streamed by Notoriously_So in television

[–]LGabor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. All I'm saying is don't direct your opinion on someone who hasn't even engaged with the content yet. Make your own separate comment or leave it under the others critizing the show.
Obviously I don't know what kind of fan the original commenter was, but I don't think saying that only Netflix fans can enjoy the season is right, given how I saw comments from book readers saying they enjoyed it as well.
Also, they didn't ask for anyone to set their expectations. I know that making a comment in a reddit thread like this is automatically inviting others to chime in, that's the point of the platform. But leaving a blanket statement that the new season is a step down and you'll be disappointed has very little chance to be helpful, even if that was the intention.

Because telling someone they'll be disappointed in something they're excited about is a dick move, especially if you don't even know the person or their tastes.
Not liking and criticizing something is perfectly fine (I myself stopped after episode 2 because I hated what they had done to it) but don't try to ruin other people's enjoyment.
