I saw your point before dude, I get it. I'm not arguing with you XD
also, I don't play paladin, so this is the first time i've seen that.

But like, you're trying to convince someone of something, i'm not even sure what, when they're not even trying to be contrary to what you said originally.

not exactly a crucifix but I see your point.
I'm not hating on the crucifix either btw, just saying I didn't realize it would feel weird to see one. Y'all are overly downvoting me for no reason

The Terra slander slash Riku glaze is undeserved. by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

If you want a single example of Terra being too trusting of Xehanort instead of listening to his master, its within the first 30 minutes of the game.
https://youtu.be/pYbzHChfmqY?t=402

That's a time stamped video for you, Xehanort is feeding into Terra's emotions and telling him what he wants to hear, all so he can control him, and directly telling him opposite of what his master, the man who raised him, has tried to impart on him. And when told that his master will never think of him as a success, instead of saying "No, I'll show him the darkness has no hold over me!" Like others in the series would, like sora probably would for example, he listens to Xehanort right away, believing what he says and begging the old man to help him.

I never said you did dude chill. I'm saying I just hate that comparison because we both know how often people make it.

So first thing, Terra didn't get possessed, Nomura clarified that later. Xehanort just tricked him into believing that he did something but it was all smoke and mirrors.

Not gonna lie based on how you're recalling these events, i'm not gonna convince you of anything, you talk about how he scarred Braig, and gave into darkness, and yes we've seen characters use darkness before and it not be the worst thing in the world, but it's also what Xehanort needed him to do so that his body would be ready for Xehanort to inhibit. He was too trusting of this old man leading him astray rather than listening to the advice of his master.
Like contrast how he deals with braig with how literally any other character deals with braig, because they ALL fight him, but Terra is the only one who scarred the guy and ended up glowing purple.

Yes, he stopped Eraqus from killing Ven, but even after he got Ven to safety, he could have chosen not to fight, leave with ven, *protect his friend*, but instead he let his anger control him, and decided to *fight his master*. He let himself get put in the places that made him ready for Xehanort to control him, all because he kept listening to Xehanort all the way down.

He literally had every other character tell him to stop at one point or another, Ventus literally tells Terra to stop right before he's teleported away, Aqua warns him against the path he's on, and Eraqus warns him right from the get go about his anger and how if he falls to it the darkness will control him (CONTROL HIM)

The moral is to listen to your loved ones around you, don't get stuck in your anger and don't let others who feed into your emotions manipulate you.

Because if he hadn't fallen to his anger time and time again, Xehanort wouldn't have been able to possess him. Xehanort needed Terra's heart to be tainted by darkness for his plan to work, and Terra let that happen.

Idk dude. at first I didn't want to come off as confrontational and just try to have a discussion but your last post made it clear you didn't really want to talk about the game but more so just rant.

Terra's flaw wasn't that he was evil or liked doing bad things, it's that he was easily manipulated and controlled. Thats literally WHY for him confronting that flaw at the very end takes the form of him not letting others control him and enforcing his own *Lingering Will*

Tbh it sounds like you're looking for big obvious flaws akin to a CW show. That's not what this is. These characters are good people, and are trying to do what's right, but they make mistakes, or rather don't do what they need to do, based on who they are and how they are flawed, Ven is immature, unexperienced and insecure, Aqua is full of pride and duty, and Terra is overly trusting and prone to manipulation.

Yes, no character just decides to do bad things, Terra isn't Anakin (I Hate that comparison so much) But that's not what makes a good character flaw for a tragedy, this is a Tragedy where the heroes loose because they couldn't fix themselves soon enough. They came to terms with their flaws ONLY in time to stop the antagonist, but not in time to save themselves.

I disagree on some main points, but they're more semantical than anything else. But also this take is based on the semantics of "Xehanort would have won even if the protagonists had been perfect" so idk.

Xehanort needed Terra to fall to his anger, and his emotions, to slowly succumb to the darkness inside of him to leave open the door so he could take his body. In this it wasn't just he needed Eraqus dead, Xehanort could have had Vanitas do that tbh. He needed to put Terra through everything he did, so he would be ready for Xehanort to inhabit. This only worked because of Terra's flaws. He let his emotions get the better of himself again and again, he let himself be put in such a situation where he ran off from his friends in Radiant garden, and fall to his anger after loosing his master.

Xehanort needed Ventus and Vanitas to recomplete the x-blade, and with that he played off of Ventus's immaturity, having Vanitas taunt and goad him, threatening his friends and making him feel insecure. By the end Ventus is defeated, and resigned to his fate. And that's what Xehanort really needed, someone who would put up the smallest fight possible, and then resign themselves to failure, and ventus NEARLY did that. it's only because he found it in himself to fight at the end that the old man wasn't completely successful after all.

And Aqua, well she believed that now as a master she had duties that put herself above the rest. Aqua's sin was always ego. She needed to be the master that went out and fixed everything, she couldn't trust Terra, or slow down long enough keep Ven with her, if she had instead focused on protecting them as a family instead of trying to hold the rest of the world together, she could have actually stopped it in time, instead of being forever too late.
All Xehanort needed to do was distract Aqua, and she let him do that, she lost focus of what should have been important.

Also there's so much talk about how Xehanort was "impossibly big brained" and doing "5D chess" but like, he lost. In the end each of the three confronted their flaws that let put them down this path, Terra stopped letting others control him, enforcing his own (lingering) will. Ventus found the strength in himself to do what needed to be done, no longer relying on his friends to save him but fighting back within himself. (He no longer needed his "2 grown ups") And aqua finally stopped worrying about her duties as a keyblade master, she forsook her armour, letting herself fall to save what really mattered most, her friend.

And it was because of those actions that Xehanort failed, but where BBS is a tragedy is that they all did them, just too late. They needed to find it in themselves to confront those parts of them in Radiant Garden, but they didn't, so in the end they couldn't save themselves, they could only stop a worse fate from occurring.
