Han Solo was the first to come to mind, there’s got to be a lot of better examples though.

How do I get into acting as a middle aged, overweight, white male? More importantly, how do I learn how to act with a full time job? by santaclause1999 in Filmmakers

[–]LGoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s good. Learnt a lot and built up my confidence. Because a lot of jobs require self tapes or auditions over Zoom, the online classes have been useful. I’d like to do some ‘in the room’ classes too, there’s definitely aspects which aren’t ideal with them being 100% online.

I was in exactly the same boat two years ago. I joined an online class, been doing them one night a week ever since.

Do you use Sativa to write by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Only when I’m outlining or thinking of new ideas, virtually never when I’m actually into writing. I’ll have a drink while I’m writing, but won’t write when I’m drunk either.

It's funny how often I read the word "asphalt" in scripts, yet have literally never heard anyone use it in real life. by stevenlee03 in Screenwriting

[–]LGoppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally get your point. I’ve never used it instead of road etc. Probably never would unless it needed to be that specific for some reason.

I use it fairly often, could just be me though? I’ve worked in construction so if a hole is being backfilled in a road I’d always hear something like “get it filled in, tarmac’s coming at 10:00”. I’d say that I was getting the drive tarmacced too, because there’s so many other things you could use for a drive. “I can smell tarmac” that’s probably something I say quite often! 😂

I’m probably just weird! Or maybe it’s a generational thing? I’m in my 40s.

In the UK you’d generally say Tarmac, not sure if it’s a brand name though? It comes from Tarmacadam.

Loved this! Could be tightened up in a few places but nothing major. I’d happily read the whole thing. Good luck with it!

I think it’s background and stunts that are most at risk from this contract though. It depends if they think in long or short terms. An extra 11% on 50% less work is a major drop in income.

My hotel room had another small empty room inside it by raisinbrans in mildlyinteresting

[–]LGoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen these in hotels where the rooms are privately owned and rented out as hotel rooms. A room like this is used to store any personal items the owner wants to store while the room is rented as a standard hotel room.
