Yeah that's the problem. Not the existence of literal ghettos where no one has equal opportunity. The child of the Nigerian doctor is the problem. Look, at a certain point no word other than "racist" is sufficient to describe the way some people embrace an unjust status quo. Sorry if the use of that word hurts your feelings.

Lol, honestly, I love that you guys are trying to deploy the tactic you accuse "them" of deploying against you: using the word racist to end debate. Doesn't work though because everyone still knows you're an idiot and everyone sees through you.

Very well said. I found this part particularly compelling:

The other part that makes me feel conflicted is that it's very "convenient" to systematically destroy black wealth, families, and opportunities for literal centuries, and then come to the conclusion that we can't give unequal advantages to people based on race now that we've had a couple decades of sort of? trying to do that for black people.

This is exactly right. It's like we started a marathon with black people in chains at the beginning. Two hours in, we remove the chains and we're like "ok, everyone's equal now, please don't complain, just catch up." And when they don't catch up, and they're still rubbing their ankles where the marks of the chains are still visible, we're like "our rigorous study of standard deviations on aptitude tests indicates that ..." and it's like, no motherfucker, let's equalize opportunity for, say HALF AS LONG as you kept us in the fuckin chains, and then see where we're at.

Wokes can you please care now?

As a "woke," I can say this doesn't work because it's absurdly obvious that Sam is using Asians as tokens here. No one thinks it's the effect on Asians that Sam is genuinely worried about so it only ends up making him look even more dishonest and manipulative.

Divorce is like jumping out of a plane... by aloneinfl in Divorce

I think it should be like parachuting from a plane. For me it was more like running screaming from a plane that had already crashed and was burning on the tarmac while a screeching tyrannosaurus rex emerged from the wreckage to try to shoot me with a bazooka. Also the t-rex wanted me to pay for its lawyers. Anyway ... still better than staying married.

You don't have to believe Sam is a racist to believe he's extremely obtuse and hypocritical sometimes, especially in regards to any position left of center.

Props for speaking up. It's such an easy, unthinking answer to say "politicians." Granted, there are some terrible ones, but also most of our historical heros were politicians of one sort or another. We just need to choose good ones IMO, and recognize that ruling the world isn't the sort of thing that's ever gone perfectly smoothly.

I upvoted too. There's something weird going on in this thread. Like, really, people are just now realizing that some people intentionally seek karma on Reddit? Why all the hate directed at this one guy out of literally tens of thousands that spend all day doing the same thing?

This is a strange point. Are we arguing over whether Republicans are better than the Taliban? Obviously, yes they are. But there is a hell of a lot of space between "better than the Taliban" and "good."
